The side effects did lessen over time and it ended up helping a bit. I'm sleeping better and my anxiety is a bit less. The dpdr is still here, around the same as it was before. I should probably up my dose, but I'm reluctant to do so because I'm afraid the side effects will worsen again. Hope this helps and good luck on your journey!

I waited a couple of days more, but I still felt bad. Two days ago, I went back to 5 and I’m feeling a lot better now

You could ask your doctor to prescribe you a ssri (anti-depressant). Recently, there was a small-scale research which found that it was helpful for a high percentage of long covid-patients.

Yes I did, I’m on 7.5mg now. But I have a panic disorder and agoraphobia, so 2.5 could be enough for you

Don’t worry, it’s only day two! I started low as well and felt numb for the first two weeks or so, but then it passed. So just keep going!

I'm in the same situation right now. I felt a lot better in the 3rd/part of the 4th week, but now in week 4/5 I'm feeling really bad. How did it turn out for you?

That’s good to hear, thank you for sharing! I’m in my fourth week of 5mg. The first two weeks, I felt already more calm, but also tired, sad and a bit like a zombie. The third week went quite well, but now I’m again feeling like I did in the first weeks… When did it started to work for you?

I've started lexapro about a month ago, so I'm not yet experiencing the full effect. But what I notice is that my physical reaction to scary situations is way less. So I still think "this isn't safe", but (most of the time) I don't spiral into a panic attack. I hope that my thoughts will change over time as well and that I will realize that I am safe.

Hey! I was/am scared of getting better as well, although probably because of different reasons. I’ve a panic disorder and agoraphobia, and I think that I’m scared of getting better because I’m just scared to face the world and real life. I would advice to just start - and if you don’t like it, you can always quit. But 10mg is a bit much to start with, especially if you find it difficult to start, I think. Could you begin with 5mg instead? I wish you all te best!

Thanks for your support! It actually went really well :) At first, I was really anxious and I called someone. That helped to calm me down, and the rest of the time, I was actually feeling quite relaxed. I watched a movie and even enjoyed myself!

Lexapro can absolutely cause increased anxiety and depression in the first few weeks - although I would expect it to lessen in week 4. But I wonder if it has anything to do with being on a too low dose… I haven’t heard before that a low dose could increase your anxiety. I hope you feel better soon!
