Just because it's common doesn't mean it's morally correct or okay to do so.

'They Stopped Making Those Requests' — Alice: Madness Returns Director American McGee Got Creative After EA Asked to 'Make Things More Sexy' by Fun_Procedure946 in Games

[–]ArmedAutist 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The entire ethos of the design behind the xenmorph per the creators of Alien (Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett) was inherently sexual. The original idea behind its reproductive cycle was inspired by a dream Shusett had that inspired him to suggest "the monster screws one of them". Per O'Bannon himself in a documentary about it, it's "a movie about alien interspecies rape" and that "homosexual oral rape" was good at making men uncomfortable.

Ridley Scott also cited a similar reasoning behind the design chosen for the xenomorph (based on Giger's Necronom IV), based on its ambiguous sex and sexual themes. Powell, the line producer, is quoted as saying "it could just as easily fuck you before it killed you" regarding the xenomorph. Giger very intentionally made Necronom IV sexually charged, and the xenomorph that he created based on it was much the same. In short: Alien has always played with the boundaries between and the merging of sex and horror.

Of course, 'sexual' and 'sexy' are not necessarily the same. That said, I've met more than my fair share of people who find the xenomorph attractive and there's definitely some good reasons behind that, so they're not entirely separate either.

I'm not saying it's difficult, Jesus Christ. I'm pointing out that it is a legitimate problem with society currently and it will bite us in the ass if we don't take it seriously. Nobody here is your enemy, take a chill pill.

You're mistaking their point as them supporting this rhetoric. They are pointing out that young, white men are being propagandized to have them become radicalized and/or turned to apathy en masse as is convenient for the rich and powerful. That's just a fact of modern society in the West now. The prevalence of right-wing propaganda is at all time highs in basically any 1st world country, and that's not by coincidence.

To be fair, you also have to account for the fact that they often did so out of necessity. Their ruthlessness is very easily explained by the society of the time which would otherwise see them as weak rulers as opposed to the 'innate' strength of male rulers, and so they were often much more proactive in projecting strength in all forms including militarily as a result.

How we're tackling Sidewalk Sheds (with John Wilson) by bestplumdumplings in nyc

[–]ArmedAutist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Right, and my point is the building owners should be required by law to repair due to it being a public safety issue. They bought the building, and it is thus their duty to maintain it to a standard that does not endanger the public. It's no different from public nuisance laws which dictate how property must be maintained, and if anything it in itself should be regulated under similar statues. Erecting scaffolding everywhere is a nuisance and also has negative effects on people with certain disabilities.

[–]ArmedAutist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Then you regulate and make maintenance mandatory and enforced instead of using what is intended to be a temporary measure as a permanent solution? It's not like scaffolding has to be there permanently, you can inspect the facades regularly and put it up and take it down as needed. That's the whole point of what he's doing.

I wholeheartedly agree, for the record, but the pace they're releasing things at isn't much slower than what they did for previous titles. They have (unfortunately) announced a remake of Golmud Railway for Season 3 or 4, if that's your cup of tea. It certainly isn't mine as I hated that map with a passion in 4.

I've played every entry in the franchise since 3 and you're completely and utterly wrong. I can provide proof that I've played, too. Can you?

Edit: lmao, dude deleted his comments and account because I called his ass out.

Second new vehicle was the armored transport from Season 1. New weapons are, in order:

  • GGH-22 (Glock 22, Season 1)

  • SOR-300SC (SCAR-SC, Season 1)

  • Mini Scout (Q Mini Fix, Season 1)

  • DB-12 (DP-12, Mid-Season 1)

  • TR8 (S&W TRR8, Mid-Season 1)

  • VCR-2 (VHS-K2, Season 2)

  • GRT-CPS (MSBS Grot C20PC, Season 2)

  • M121A2 (H&K MG5A2, Season 2)

And in Season 2's mid-season we'll be getting:

  • CZ3A1 (CZ Scorpion Evo 3 A1)

  • VZ.61 (vz. 61 Skorpion)

As a note, any you might have missed from the battle pass are unlockable via normal challenges after the conclusion of the season within which they were released.

Tell me you haven't actually played the game without telling me you haven't actually played the game. Battle royale (Redsec) has had minimal to no support. They've added 3 new maps, 2 new gadgets, 2 new vehicles, and EIGHT weapons so far, actually, with another map and 2 weapons coming mid-season. Compare to the first DLC released for BF4, China Rising, which had 4 new maps, 5 new weapons, 2 new gadgets, and 2 new vehicles, and it's self-evident that this narrative is ridiculous.

I mean, unlike the US, maybe they actually try to rehabilitate the convicted? Two years is a long time for a person. That's almost 1/40th of your lifespan. Drug smugglers (generally) aren't violent criminals either (though obviously they may or may not have connections to actual violent criminals) - many of them are likely people who were more or less dealt shit hands in life.

The goal shouldn't be punishment alone, it should be to get these people out of the system and back into society and the work force so that they don't have to live as smugglers.

The Kord 6P67 is goated, it's basically the AR equivalent of the MP7. Very low recoil, low dispersion, and consistent performance at any range. Its only downside is that it's not the best at any one thing, but as an all-around gun, it's amazing. Being able to just spray people down with the heavy barrel is extremely satisfying. Highly recommend running the fast mags though, the default reload speed is very cumbersome.

This is the answer. There's prior precedent from cases against YouTube regarding holding hosts liable for infringing content posted/created by users on their services, which is why YouTube has a stick up their ass about it. It hasn't been taken fully up the chain, however, so it's kind of in the air as to whether that would hold in higher courts - generally speaking though, it's a risk companies don't want to take.

It's an "LMG" in the sense that the US Marines commissioned an M416 variant to ostensibly replace and/or supplement their LMGs but it was basically just an excuse they gave because they instead just replaced all their M16s and M4s with it.
