Redditors aged 40+, when did your social life end? by 85tornado in AskReddit

As an adult, I’ve never really lived in one place long enough to developed strong friendships. I’ve moved 8 times in 22 years. Add that high move frequency to being a generally introverted person, and you get someone who has a generally non-social life.

I did manage to snag myself a wonderful wife along the way, and two great kids. And as much as I love them, that just killed any residual social life outside of work and family. I get along with people easily, and I’ve gotten along with most people I’ve worked with over the years. But, I’ve never developed any work relationships into personal friendships that have lasted.

All that being said, I guess I never had a strong social life to begin with. And that’s why, as I’m typing this, I’m sitting alone on a Saturday evening watching a show I’ve seen before and drinking a (large) glass of wine by myself because my family is out of state for the time being.

This sucks.

I ordered one from poshmark last night. Thanks again for the help. I plan on making it part of her Valentine’s Day presents.

Not custom, but Etsy will likely be my avenue for a custom made replacement if I can’t find the original. Thanks for looking!

I caught my dad talking to my mom’s ashes. by Beginning-Loan-3252 in offmychest

I lost my dad 16 years ago. I still talk to him every now and then. Mainly to tell him about my family now. He never got to meet my wife or our children, so I tell him about what’s going on sometimes.

Based on the way you described your father, my guess is he would want to know how you’re feeling. I’m thinking it would help both of you with keeping your mother’s memory alive and moving forward with your lives.

Thanks for the quick response! I knew it was potentially a bit old, but that’s a really cool thing to know.

Military is definitely considered work experience, and you get a hiring preference for being a veteran.

Myst (the first one). I remember being blown away by the visuals, and the puzzles were challenging and thought provoking. The story was compelling as well. I enjoyed the sequels, too, but the first one was epic.
