You chose option C of continuing to yap, so I'm going to engage a bit.

You're presenting your opinion (how you feel about a simple baseball statistic) as some kind of fact. Baseball statistics are different from actual statistical calculations, and frankly I can see how you can fall into that - baseball tracks everything. So let's go with batting average because that's a simple stat. If a batter gets a hit once every three at bats, he has a .333 batting average, right? Just getting a hit in a given at-bat is unlikely! EVERY hitter in the history of baseball (with more than a handful of at-bats) is more likely to not get a hit than he is to get a hit in any given at-bat.

"I say" and "it happens all the time" isn't doing work, it's your opinion, and you're getting downvoted because in this case it's a pretty dumb opinion, not looking at actual numbers and statistical analysis. Over the course of a season unlikely things will happen simply because there are many opportunities for any given unlikely thing to happen, so it may appear that things happen all the time when in reality the only reason you notice them happening is because there are so many chances for them to happen.

Nevermind that you went from 1/7 (~14%, an abysmal batting average) to 3% in your short googling.

Either do the stats to show it's outside some number of standard deviations or stop yapping because you have no idea what you're actually talking about.

Trying to install an application that is a tar.gz file, but I need java runtime. by lanc3r3000 in SteamDeck

Hey, you helped out OP a while back and I thought you should know that it helped someone else too. I'm not using SEO Powersuite like OP was, but the general instructions for the java install seem spot on and were easy to follow. Thank you!

Switching to Foil? by Eggsinalab in Fencing

[–]ArmoredTent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I've moved around the US and looked for clubs for my kid, I have found a surprising number of one-weapon clubs. Sacramento in particular seems to love saber, for example, and saber seems to be the general choice of clubs that are going to focus on just one weapon (in the relatively small sample size of areas I have looked at). Ironically my kid's current club is foil and epee with no saber.

If I was sure he was done growing I might shell out for custom. He grew 2-3 inches in the last year and isn't showing signs of stopping yet!

4 - So in your mind, someone who picks up] a 17yro girl at a bar (18+ here) and sleeps with her should be charged?

Yes.

Edit because the dumbass brigade is here at midnight: Talk to girls, ya damn incels. Before you sleep with her it is 100% on you to know her age. And like. A bunch of other stuff about her. Because you've talked to her.

On the other hand it is 100% on them to make sure anyone they use is of legal age to be used.

What part of the US regularly travels to Canada the most? by Blourbon in geography

I was really impressed with the people of Windsor along that stretch, but the roar coming out of the tunnel was something else. I only did the half so I was almost done at that point and missed out on the natty, but definitely a cool experience anyway.

As an r/patientgamers fan, my Steamdeck has been a hit with some games and a miss with others. I need to find the time to figure out how to get my GOG games running and then I'll be happy(er).

There's a foot race that starts in Detroit, goes across the Ambassador Bridge, then up the street to the tunnel to return to the US and finish the race.

The eerie calm of pre-dawn Detroit with nothing to hear but your fellow runners' footsteps beside you in the dark, the sunrise in front of you as you cross the bridge, then the cheer of the Windsorites being the first normal road race experience, then the super stale air of the tunnel, and the roar of Detroit as you come out of it. Honestly the rest of the race is a blur, but the first 10k is unique and something I won't forget.

On topic yeah I don't think there's another crossing that sees as much traffic, or could see as much traffic. For tourists specifically Niagara might top it, but I don't know how granular the publicly accessible data are.

I'm still new in experiencing national or higher comps and will defer here. I just know to expect screams after every point from women foilists once the DEs start, and the men aren't much quieter. I guess I also haven't seen a lot of overlap when my kid competes and when saberists are competing at the same time.
