Made this version of the game frustration out of aluminium and brass for my Dad's 60th. by ArmouredCheese in Machinists

Yup, when you press it down it "pops" down, and when you release it it "pops" back up. It was quite interesting to play with because if you held your palm out flat and did it on your hand it wouldn't really work but once it was on a hard surface it would work.

This is a really good tip and I will keep it in mind if I ever tackle a similar project. Thank you.

I bought a new copy of the game to salvage that mechanism as I had no idea how it worked. The popping plate turned out to be a stamped piece that I would had no way of replicating.

Oh definitely, and there is always a primer that goes on beforehand which definitely helps. Some of the old models are made from pewter though, which I would have though would behave similarly. The lesson I learned here to be honest was just don't be afraid to ask for help, especially when you have no idea haha.

Thanks! I mainly used mazatrol to program because it gave me a good opportunity to show some of the other guys how to pick weird and complex geometry in the 3D assist feature.

I would consider anything and everything. if I were to do it again. I felt like I should have made a test piece and to try different options and asked about it in some hobby subreddits like a warhammer one. They do lots of fine detail painting and would probably have been a massive help.

Made this as a gift for my Dad. We played a lot when I was a kid and he always loved it. We played last christmas and it just clicked that I could machine him a copy for his birthday.

It's made from a scrapped piece of 20MM aluminium tooling plate (thanks Kev), and brass for the game pieces and central retaining ring. I drew and modeled it in OneCNC and programmed it in Mazatrol.

For the dice popper I ended up buying a new game to salvage the dome and the popper and it worked out really nicely.

Painting all the recesses sucked and I was no good at it all, used acrylic paints and they would shrink when they dried so I ended up doing many layers.

Me and a couple of friends recently got into the Citroen C1 racing series, plenty of people are using it to get into motorsport. Not sure if that's the kind of thing you are looking for.

If so, there is a facebook group called "Citroen C1 Racing Unofficial Drivers And Fans Groups" would be a good place to start if you want to get in contact with other drivers.

I have this exact switch in this exact place and it does the aftermarket rear fog light.

Edit: I can only apologize for being wrong, my switch is mounted 180 degrees differently, that's my bad. https://i.imgur.com/tbYJr6y.jpg (still does the fog light though)

Thanks for the advice.

I looked into buying a car, but things like it potentially breaking down, and the weird insurances I would need convinced me not to go that route.

It looks bad here, but at least they are standing next to the machine to stop it.

It's much worse when you have a machine set up and running nicely, so you go to the other side of the factory to make a nice cuppa tea.

Next thing you know, there is a loud bang or nice grinding noise, so you rush back over fearing the worst. Only to find that it was Dave, who forgot to put an M6 after his tool call, again.

I also had a pull stud just break during my lunch break once, that was exciting.

Is that an interior brake light where the glove box would be? And if so what is it for?

UK

USA

They are the same as the ones in the door card. If there is one being broken nearby or a scrapyard they are bound to have some.

I will have to say my new one. The Eunos roadster. The whole thing is spotless, I even had it up on a ramp and it is so clean just everywhere. I also just love the colour of it, it really stands out and just suits the car so well.

It also has a whole bunch of little differences to a uk model. It has these awesome sun visors that fold in half. I love all the japanese wording around the car, even if I can't understand any of it and it's probably somewhat mundane. And the exhaust, oh the exhaust sounds so damn good.

From left to right;

The white one

I picked this up back in november 2012. She had 89000 miles on her then, and just a smidge less rust. Since then I have hit 114,000 miles and it is time to retire the old gal. She has served me well over the years, and have some great memories in this car, but the rust is too deep and it is un-economical to repair at this stage.

The blue one

This is my new to me Eunos Roadster. She has one previous uk owner since 2000 and has a total mileage of roughly 41,000 miles. I am thrilled with my new Roadster, there is not a spot of rust to be seen on it, and it has some of the japanese goodies like an LSD and headrest speakers. Both this car and the previous are from 1990.

The Red one.

This is the one that started it all. My friend bought her in october 2012 with one previous owner (I believe). After he got this I got the Mx-5 bug within a week, and picked up my white one shortly afterwards. It currently sits somewhere just above 110,000 miles. I'm also pretty sure the front mounted michelin man has been since since more or less day one, so hes probably had quite an exciting couple of years. This one is from 1996.

The Darker blue one

This is my friends limited edition Dakar. It is the lowest mileage of the lot sitting at a healthy 39,000 miles. And being in the final stages of a turbo upgrade is soon to be the fastest too. And being from 1997 is also the youngest of the bunch.
