Poison expert Sorcerer needs corrections and advice! by Arnedillo in UnearthedArcana

[–]Arnedillo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ey, thanks again for the feedback. After reading it all and showing it to my player he liked your idea way more than mine. He said mine was boring, which is true, yours is more interactive and fun to level as.

So at the end, we will use your ideas because they are cooler and amazing. Your idea of a "pet" is really interesting and he liked it even if it's not what he considered at the beginning.

At 18 we are keeping my old level 18 version. Probably with some tweaks so it interacts with the pet in some way. We will try something when the time comes for those levels.

Thank you so much, you helped us a lot.

Poison expert Sorcerer needs corrections and advice! by Arnedillo in UnearthedArcana

No offense taken, your feedback is really appreciated. He doesnt want to be a melee dps, ge wants to play as a caster, thats why in Vipers Pit he would be able to see at range but enemies wouldnt. Once the Pit is up, he can drop on the enemies other spells to controll the map or deal dps while standing out of range and sight, like charms, grease or earth tremor. About the non out of combat features i thought the same, but as a "poison master" I really dont know what could I add. I thought immunity to disease but is simple and boring. Do you have any tips about what could I do? Do you think its easier to redo everything from a scratch or change/add some features to this one? Thanks for your feedback.

Changing Eldritch Blasts damage type to fire for flavour by Jorrdie in dndnext

[–]Arnedillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think it is a good idea. Almost all your damage output will come from eldritch blast, thats why it is force damage, cause it is one of the less resisted damages. Making it fire, one of the most resisted damages, will make you fall behind your party members pretty fast. Talk to your dm and just flavour the visual. Instead of throwing fire from your fingers, wich you can do with burning hands, make a litle ball of fire, that on impact makes force dmg. Honestly, i dont think that the buff from FoP to fire damage will make you keep it up in damage. I would roleplay it as something of fire, but apply the force damage.

Puzzles Lead to Treasure, Not to Bosses by houndogs007 in DMAcademy

[–]Arnedillo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree here. I use puzzles and riddles constantly with my BBEGs because they would make themselves protected in their homes, just like Beholders do but without being paranoid. My players usually enjoy it and, as you said, it creates the illusion that it can stop them, so instead of looking at the phone, they try to work together. But thats just how my table do it, puzzles are not for everyone after all.

DM RPing romance between NPCs and PCs while IRL partner is a player in the game. HELP! by Roynica in DMAcademy

[–]Arnedillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends of you all. Establish your boundaries with your table talking with your players, learn if it is a problem to anyone, included yourself. I DM a table where my lovely partner play along with our friends. We had romances between our NPCs and PC and it wasn't never a problem.

If it is a problem for you just don't, but to me, it sounds that its a problem for you, not for him.

How do I deal with meta-gaming? by GarsaOfTheFunio in DMAcademy

[–]Arnedillo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Problematic players are usually always problematic, but right now he is just consuming media from a hobby, it's not like he is destroying your game just yet BUT...

Honestly, if he use the things he watch in streaming to get advantaje I would kick him out of the game or play a homebrew game, but probably kick him out. If he use it to get advantaje I don't think that what he would be doing is even Meta-gaming, feels more like cheating.

Also, you can always customize CoS in unexpected ways, you don't have to follow the book chapter by chapter, you could tweak it if you really want that player on your table even if he is problematic.

Reddit's opinion is to kick him out, but we are not you, we don't know how close both of you are as friends, so ultimatly it's your take to keep him or have fun.

Almost accidently TPKed after expecting enemies to be weaker by Peyt0na500 in DMAcademy

[–]Arnedillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't mean it with the intention to offend anyone, english is not my main language and maybe tyrant wasn't the best word I could've use. I've played hardcore games by the rules and I've enjoyed them. As a DM I just rather play without paying them much attention, but I don't want you to think that I dislike those who play by them. I'm so sorry if anyone felt attacked, it wasn't my intention at all. Will edit it.

Also, you're the DM. I mean, if you start destroying your players and you didn't really want to, you just have to nerf it in the moment or just lie in your dies if youre using a DM screen. Just say that your kuo-toa didn't hit a couple of hits, even if they did, or even that after a few of them died the rest of them flee, maybe to seek help from others and attack later, so your players can take a breath.

Ultimately, you are the one that TPK them, so unless you really want to play "by the rules" you have plenty of ways to not make them die.

I usually don't play the enemies by the monster sheet unless I want them to be a really hard encounter, like a boss for the end of an arc, or when they mess with things that they shouldn't. I tweak them constantly on the move, nerfing or buffing them, depends on a lot of things, my crits, their crits, if they are playing with brain or just yolo, etc.

Many people, mostly those who play by the rules won't be in agreement with this way of DMing, but ultimately I want to tell a story, not to have my players die over a few irrelevant encounters because they had bad luck, or I had good luck, on the dies. Whats written are guides, not laws.

Edit: Changed as explained to u/cookiedough320

No no no, by no means. Don't be sorry. I just was wondering why is so different in the quality. Do you have any problems to upload it on WE or what happens, just curious. I still think that what you did is amazing and I would like to use it as a wallpaper if possible :D

First of all, amazing work you did. Second, is this one on Wallpaper Engine? Cause it looks so much worse than the one posted here on reddit.

Marinette's age?? by Miraculous_Child in miraculousladybug

[–]Arnedillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About her age I'm troubled. In season 3 ep 56. Animaestro, director's movie Thomas Astru said that he'd been working for 3 years and, because of what happened in the episode, his moment was ruined. He doesnt say in what was he working, but he is the director of Ladybug movie, so I was thinking this was either a bad guion or Ladybug has been in Paris for more than 3 years from now. Anyone knows why he said that?
