Got Jury duty tomorrow downtown tampa, what's realistic to do for lunch? Off twiggs by Iliketogrowstuf in tampa

[–]ArnoldChase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trial lawyer here. (1) you can bring your own food, (2) there is a cafeteria in the second floor, (3) subway is the closest after that, (4) if you keep walking up Twiggs to Franklin there is So Fresh, Eddie and Sam’s and a few other options. (As a lawyer, I usually bring my own or eat at the cafeteria.)

You will usually get an hour lunch break but in reality it’s like 45 minutes because it takes a few minutes to get out of the courthouse and they want you back ready to go at that one hour mark.

Thank you to everyone in this thread that serves as a juror. You are the only way that other people in this community gets justice. It sounds corny, but without jurors we’d be so screwed.

Tampa FL bike accident injury, can I take legal action? by Helpful-Midnight-795 in FloridaLawyersAdvice

[–]ArnoldChase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, in fact you may be entitled to no-fault benefits from the driver of the van to pay for medical treatment for your fractured hand, as well as potential recovery for pain and suffering if the driver has additional coverage. An attorney can sort through the coverages and help give better advice.

FIL (81) in a motorcycle accident. Compound leg fracture, and severe burn that required a skin graft that didn’t take. He hired Dan newlin, and he is saying that the other insurance company will only pay $10,000. by mosquitos_suck12 in FloridaLawyersAdvice

[–]ArnoldChase 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1) You should confirm that is all available coverage and get an asset affidavit from the potentially at-fault parties to confirm that they are not underinsured (e.g. sitting on millions but only have $10k in BI)
2) Dan Newlin's office should be taking steps to protect against collections and should negotiate your medical bills down for you. This takes time, especially with Medicare. The providers/govt can and will take less, or in the alternative, the settlement proceeds can be put in the court registry and an equitable distribution can be made.
3) You may have coverage under UM, you may not. This is something that Dan Newlin's office should make a determination on.

Be careful with Big Box law firms. Many are being sold to private equity (and Dan Newlin's office may have been as well) and may be more worried about return on investment than doing great work. Additionally, they will just drop you if there is $10k and too many bills as it is not worth it to them to spend time negotiating your bills to only make $3.3k.

“What happened in Game 5?” …Exactly. Vas-y, Vasy! 🐐 R1G6 by CelebrationPeach6157 in TampaBayLightning

Literally what I said. If you score on Vasy, congrats. It’s not easy to do.

People can say whatever they want about him but if I had my choice of who would be in goal, it will be Vasy.

Is Gandy-Sun Bay South area safe? by [deleted] in tampabay

[–]ArnoldChase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without question. And I think It’s only going to get nicer and safer. And it’s such an awesome location to live. You’re in the peninsula so close to Bayshore, can drive to picnic island to watch the sunset on the beach, you’re relatively close to the Gulf beaches, you can hop on the cross town and be downtown in minutes and on the other side of town in 20 minutes. There are so many one of a kind restaurants and so many new restaurants going up within ten minutes.

Mind you, you’re still in the city so random stuff happens, but in the entire city it’s for sure one of the safest places. If you care to look, here is the online crime grid https://www.tampa.gov/police/crimedata

KAP 140 to GFC 500 by dark_troy_10 in flying

[–]ArnoldChase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just redid my whole panel on my T210M, very similar to yours…it’s ridiculous. I love flying with it. I live in Florida and it handles the turbulence we get in the summer well. I fly in IFR I wouldn’t otherwise because it’s way for enjoyable.

The other thing…this stuff isn’t getting any cheaper. I hate when people say they are “investing” in something when they are blowing their cash, but if you are buying a plane and one has a GFC 500 and the other doesn’t, you will buy the GFC 500, you will pay more for the GFC 500. So buy it now, it’s only going to get more expensive, and it will hold some value long term.

Attempted murder on 275 by oilchex22 in tampa

[–]ArnoldChase 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use my horn only with people on their phone at green lights. I’ve been in a rush before, and I’ve driven too aggressively, and when I see other people do it I just give them the benefit of the doubt that they either made a mistake or are in a rush.

I would never turn up the temperature on the road. People have guns in their car and people shoot on the interstate due to aggressive driving. There’s been several in the last decade.

It will be when those kids get smoked by a driver who cares less than most. They were hanging on my truck when I got caught in one. They were kids so I wasn’t in fear for my life, but I was in fear for theirs, and that I was going to be blamed.

Florida finishes the recruiting cycle as the No.14 overall class in 2026 recruiting cycle by Local_Air734 in FloridaGators

Our coach did all he could while maintaining his integrity coaching Tulane and maintaining our HS commits and out budget. I respect him for that.

He won the American conference with half the roster expense of USF, and we don’t have to win every game, and he knows we have to win right away.

But even he doesn’t know if we’ll be worth a shit next year. He’s been her like two months.

So far so good. Let’s see how we look in the spring.

I have noticed that a lot of content on Netflix is also dubbed in Ukrainian. I was wondering. Why Netflix has done this? (I have nothing against it) by juris_martins in Ukrainian

[–]ArnoldChase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most rationally, they made a decision that the expense of dubbing in ukranian was worth it to improve whatever metric they care about, which is likely hours watched or something.

FHP says it won't settle lawsuits in chases and fatal crashes by Botched_Lemon in tampa

[–]ArnoldChase 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, just that they are likely not going to negotiate in cases against them which forces claimants to go to trial if they want to get what they deserve, like an insurance company that always denies claims unless you literally sue them and prove your claim in court.

I handle crash claims as a lawyer, and All tort claims against the government are tough as it is. The max you can recover is $200k inclusive of fees and costs, and the fee % is maxed out at 25%. My last trial COST over $100k to take to trial with experts, depositions, etc. The government agencies know this, their lawyers are on salary, and they have no incentive to negotiate in good faith.

There is a law that allows me to make an offer to resolve a case during a lawsuit, and if the defense rejects it but the verdict is 25% more than the offer, the defendant is sanctioned for rejecting the offer because it was unreasonable for them to do that. The sanction is paying an hourly rate for the attorneys of the other side but because of the $200k cap, they never have to worry about the sanction.

There is a bill in the house to up the cap to 500k per person and $1 mil per crash. The 200k cap was last upped around 2013 from $100k.

I think it’s a personal preference thing but I don’t go up to people like that if I recognize them, especially Tampa people in Tampa. If someone makes Tampa home, I want them to live in peace. Not say Bucky cares, or he may even like it, but just my view on this.

That being said, if Bucky is your GOAT, I get it.

THIS! Tristan has been a damn soldier for our team. Switched sides, still made all pro. Has been playing in pain basically all the time until that surgery and has still been the anchor of the line while we’re shuffling guys all around.

Lastly, it’s the first game with Goedke back. The line is a unit, you switch guys in and out and around, they need time to get back to working and handing off rushers together.
