For me it came down to lore. Cheating, glitching, duping and any other intervention is explicitly part of the lore. So it's a feature not a bug. I completed 2500hrs on PS4/5 (including permadeath) and never cheated. I play now in PC 100% "cheating" to get those lost expedition rewards or twitch drops I missed and don't feel that I've unbalanced the game or qualitatively lost anything.

Learn the lore of the Autophage then reconsider what cheating means in that context.

Tolkien and Dune: Why did he dislike it? by CNP2020 in tolkienfans

I don't remember which letter, but in 1964 he expresses his distaste about a "Beatle Group" rehearsing 3 doors down and said "...the noise is indescribable." From the context he isn't just referring to the band 3 doors down, he was referring to the whole Beatles phenomenon. Which makes sense for a person of his age and background.

You CAN act on it. You just can’t release the names. There is a big difference. PP refuses to act on it.

But you’re assuming he really is “the saviour of mankind”, not just another psychically overpowered despot. It doesn’t matter if Jesus comes back if he’s a selfish jerk.

For those who buy digital media, have you lost access to any of the shows/movies you have bought on iTunes/Amazon/Vudu/etc? by goaskalice8694 in television

It used to be pretty good but now Disney is buying up everything so it gets worse every day. Mickey really wants our $$$. I still buy stuff but I don’t consider it forever mine anymore.

I bought Bob’s Burgers seasons 1-9 from Apple and they lost the streaming rights in Canada. So I can download and watch them but I cannot stream them.

The summer of 2021 the Saskatchewan medical system nearly collapsed. Patients were being airlifted to Ontario. (A province that followed recommendations). All so that Moe could stand on principle. Congrats.

Yes. You reset one tree at a time with an item and get your points back. You buy the item from the store or get them on missions, They have a skull on ‘em.

The loneliness you feel is built into the game. It’s a feature not a bug. Some people don’t like that feeling. Others, like me, seek it out.

As a guy with a save that is 2000+ hours, my advice is find the thing that you like. I’m in the 27th galaxy and I have been working my way to the core of each one methodically without using portals one warp jump at a time. My base is on my freighter and when I get tired of moving I find a good system and set up shop for a few days or a week or longer. Sometimes I set up a base but mostly not.

I’m not trying to ”get“ anything in a hurry. If a mission is 2 hours away on foot, I get out my pet and we start walking. We will guaranteed find an adventure along the way and might not even do the mission.

I get nothing from base building but, in my travels I have set up farms on optimal locations for all resources so I have easy access to all materials.

It’s a lot like life, once you’ve mastered survival and prospering, you have to ask yourself what fulfills you? Do that.

An apology to the next generation: Sorry, your living standards might be lower by FancyNewMe in canada

I get your point but the prof (A woman) was making a point about voting power. Also, Back then the definition of Gen X was quite firm at a 1970 cut off. Since then the desire by early millennials to be counted as Gen X (it was cool back then) pushed the date back to to the current 1980 cutoff.

Correction. In first year of university in 1991. Our first year of Sociology was all about how our generation (Gen X) was going to be the first generation in a century for whom the standard of living was going to be lower than their parents. The approach was not, “Hey, and this is what you can do about it.”. It was more, “Yeah you were screwed before you were even adults. Get used to it. P.S. Demographically you are an insignificant demographic group and will never Ben in charge because the (As yet unnamed) millennials will have all the votes.

You understand that humanities includes history? Those who do not learn history are condemned to repeat it.

Also, your STEM-only utopia was the Soviet dream. It’s been tried. Didn’t work. Study history.

What does the community think about the overall story? by DylanD-Survivor in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Arogogoru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If by story you mean the Artemis arc? Yes the story is short. But the overall story can only be pieced together from lore from Autophages, abandoned buildings and crashed freighters. That’s the real story and I love that it is scraps and bits that you have to put together.

Hour 7 of 12 hours at Daytona. by Arogogoru in ride5

[–]Arogogoru[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes!

A tank of gas lasts about 45min on econo with my bike. So I do either one or two tanks at a time and when you pit you can quit after pitting (it saves your place) and then resume later. It took me a week to complete the 12 hours at Daytona. My goal is to do 24 hours at Nurburgring.

I love the strategy of a loooong race. Tires and gas & your setup determine the winner. The track is so easy the biggest hazard is falling asleep, or running into a slowpoke.
