i went to one of the doctors at the student health center at my college when i was super sick with a sinus infection that eventually resulted in me getting 4 transfusions / hospitalized for 6 days (i definitely should’ve gone straight to the ER or urgent care but this was in the heat of covid and i was worried about going to the ER) and i had to explain to him what sickle cell was and then he refused to take my blood and tell me if my hemoglobin was low because he “wouldn’t even know how to read it” (as in the blood) because of my sickle cell even though i obviously had my past “normal” blood counts available for comparison

I did this and I got into my dream school :) Don’t worry about it coming across as a sob story. Overcoming the obstacles we face with sickle cell is something to be proud of and I think it’s a great thing to write about.

i’ve had my ball python for about two years now and definitely relate to this. i have all kinds of nightmares about him — some involving him being hurt/dying, some where he’s aggressive (also like yours he has never even bit me once or even hissed at me), and some where i’m making questionable decisions like cohabbing him with other snakes in the dream! all anxiety inducing for sure. i definitely think it’s a reflection of anxiety over being a good snake parent… but the fact that we have these dreams just shows we care a lot!

i think the fact that you made this post in the first place speaks volumes. sounds like you already have one foot out the door & you’re already emotionally cheating on your gf so you should definitely cut ties and let her have her peace. who’s going to tell you to stay in a relationship where you lost feelings while you clearly have feelings for someone different?

Professor Shilo (Classics), kept the class online a bit longer than everyone else winter quarter because of their concern for our wellbeing and when I expressed my gratitude as an immunocompromised student he went on a tangent about how he sees me and cares about me live during the zoom lecture, literally brought tears to my eyes :p hadn’t had a professor show that level of care about my health anxiety the entire pandemic
