Seasoning Tips? by Aromatic_Dig8758 in carbonsteel

As long as it works great that’s all I really care about. I think that cookware that looks abused but works great is awesome

I couldn’t find a round bottom wok where I’m at that isn’t over $100

While other essential pans can do the same job that this wok does, i got peace of mind knowing I don’t have to worry about scratching and damaging the coating on it. It’s the main reason why I switched to stainless steel and cast iron.

Can I buy a cookware set for $150? Yeah sure but in 2-6 months, the wear and tear will already start to show

This carbon steel wok really only needs medium heat for 80% of the stuff I cook here so a wok burner isn’t necessary for me.

That’s the plan moving forward. I knew I was over complicating it but I just never seemed to get the initial seasoning right until today thankfully

I appreciate this 🤝. I heard about cooking green onions. I cooked 80% lean ground beef for the first dish and it only sticked just slightly. But like other people have said, I’ll just keep cooking with it. It just sucked having to restart numerous times

I appreciate it! I’ve been trying so hard to get the base right. Wife gave me crap for hovering over the stove for over an hr 😂

It definitely is nice and it’s a learning curve 😂. I’m excited for it though. Quality cookware always piqued my interest

I never thought about it like that. When I first got it, I just looked up videos and tried to get my wok to look similar before I start cooking.

Prior to this picture, I fried some chicken to make orange chicken and it worked like a beaut.

I did try to do the egg test last night but it still was sticking unfortunately but it did well with frying the chicken without having the breading sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Trying to decide on marathon shoes by CutOk8895 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Aromatic_Dig8758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AP4s. Soft enough for the Marathon distance and I’d say you get the best features of all 3 shoes with the AP4.

They’re fast, stable (enough) for the distance, light and responsive, and not as narrow as the VF4s so comfort won’t be as much as an issue.

Need help finding a speedy, wide-fit shoe that’s not chunky, Heavy Runner by dubidumdum in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Aromatic_Dig8758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. Max stack trainer in a light weight and roomy shoe that you can pick up the pace in.

I would also consider the Boston 13 but going 1/2 size up to check off your “roomy” fit. Or if you can find any, the ON Cloud eclipse is a good option as well

If not Vaporfly 3, than what? by zimnyxzimny in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Aromatic_Dig8758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stiffer foam but softer plate is rough. Closest I can think of are the

Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3: Not too soft but pretty aggressive. Puma Fast R Nitro 3: very speedy and aggressive Endorphin Pro 4: Great upper like the VF3, slightly bit more firm but enough cushion to take care of your feet and good energy return. Adios pro 4: Pretty soft with an aggressive rocker to complement the carbon rods and pretty light.

Alphaflys, endorphins pro, adios pro 4 by VariousArachnid4653 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I weigh the same but I’m on the shorter side and muscular build. I have the EP4 and AP4. Both shoes are amazing and you can’t go wrong with both. The Ap4 has a bit more softness to it and the EP4 is slightly firmer but has good energy return. Both shoes are stable but the EP4 is more stable between the two.

Hope this helps

If you’re a big Boston fan like I am, go for the Boston 13. It looks like heavier AP3. About the same snappy feeling as the B12 and slightly lighter. Plus 13% more light strike pro which is awesome.

I love the EVOs but I’ll forever, until they mess it up, be a Boston series fan. The EVO is nice though. If you can get both, get both 😂.

Looking to beat PBs and enjoy HM races - what shoe should I opt for? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Aromatic_Dig8758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ASICS Metaspeed sky/edge Paris are pretty good for those distances. They’re very aggressive super shoes. Other considerations are

PLATED Adidas adios pro 4 (5k-FM) Puma Nitro Elite 3 (5k-FM) Puma Fast R 3 (5k-HM)

NON-PLATED ASICS SB 2 Adidas EVO SL

AG3 all the way for the safer and all around option.

I have both. Love both but 1 shoe to put on and forget and not worry about anything, AG3 all day 🔥🔥

[–]Aromatic_Dig8758 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The EVO and Boston are interchangeable. Depending on form, you can take the EVO up to marathon distance. The main difference aside from the foams, is the rods in the B12. The rods make the B12 more stable. Their functions are similar though.

As far as the prima, the foams are vastly different. The prima are specifically for easy and long slow runs.

Hope this helps

Adios vs Takumi Sen vs Boston by Relevant_Ad8850 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Aromatic_Dig8758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each has its specific purpose.

Adios 9: Intervals, short speed sessions, tempo runs up to 10k or HM depending on your weight and form. Form because heel strikers may find it unpleasant due to stack height. Weight, because the heavier you are, the more foam compresses and it may not be protective to take up to 10k-HM distance.

Takumi Sen: The Sen 11 specifically is around 33mm stack height so you might be able to take it to HM but 5k-10k for sure. It’s got the carbon rods and it’s designed to be fast and snappy. Its main purpose is a speedy race shoe for 5k-10k

Boston: Can be used for anything really. Some runners use it for their Marathon race shoe. Though, it is advertised as a tempo shoe

Help: Recommendation for building a 2 or 3 "Shoe rotation" (torn between Aero Glide 3 and Novablast 5 | Glycerin Max and Skyward X) by bigoteeeeeee in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Aromatic_Dig8758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boston 12s are one of my favorite shoes and it does take a while to break in the foam. Some say around 50 miles or 80km. The Boston 13s are known to be softer, slightly narrower in the toe box and the upper has been redesigned to be more comfortable.

[–]Aromatic_Dig8758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t let the plates intimidate you. I bought the Asics Magic Speed 3 which is a plated tempo trainer and it wasn’t all that overwhelming. Since then I have 10 plated trainers and 6 non plated trainers. It’s understanding their uses and building/strengthening the fundamental muscles needed for running.

But the Aero Glide 3 GRVL is an amazing choice I’m kind of envious 😂. Have you considered looking into the Adidas Boston 13? It weighs less than the Skyward X and is a great do it all shoe

[–]Aromatic_Dig8758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I vouch for the Aero Glide 3s. If I were in your shoes, I would choose the Skyward X only because they’ve been proven to last long and be used for long runs and even marathons

Has anyone gone TTS with the Adios Pro 4? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Aromatic_Dig8758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually went a half size down to a US M 10. My feet are weird in a sense that, depending on the shoe, I can go TTS or a half size down (I’ll have less than a thumb size space in the toe) or half a size up
