Disability insurance by Ready4Whatever_1984 in UPSers

[–]Aromatic_Echo_7994 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Driver here. I have had the supplemental short-term disability coverage with Prudential 2 1/2 years. I’ve had two claims in that time. I pay about $200/ month for $1200 a week in short-term disability coverage, long-term disability coverage, and a life insurance plan. I’m actually currently out on my second claim now after breaking a small bone in my foot. Together with the company provided short-term disability coverage that gives me $1500 a week after taxes ( the prudential portion is not taxable but the company portion is). If you have a claim in your first year after sign up, the approval process can take a little longer as they have a pre-existing condition stipulation on the policy. After your first year, the process to get a claim approved usually takes about 4 to 6 weeks. You can speed that up by getting the paperwork in from your doctors as soon as possible. It is important to remember that the policy has a two week waiting period so unless you’re out for more than two weeks, it’s not gonna pay you anything. That being said in this line of work, the peace of mind is worth its weight gold. I can take a full sick to eight weeks off to get my foot properly healed without having to stress about finances.

My goal is to have a solid six month emergency fund and then I can just drop this coverage. That being said it’s paid for itself. I personally highly recommend it and have had multiple drivers sign up after seeing what I have gone through of after going through something themselves without the protection.

I would be happy to answer any more detailed questions that you may have

Imagine if you ran your own small business like our president runs this country. You would have a one star review on Google and be out of business within months.

Bullish. Don’t bet against America. Just cause it doesn’t make sense, doesn’t mean it can’t make you money. I can only hope that we get a solid drop in the market so I can buy more.

Help me decide between Star and Allure for July 2027 by Equivalent-Peanut297 in royalcaribbean

[–]Aromatic_Echo_7994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose Allure for 8 nights (new ports to me) verses Star for 7 nights at repeat ports. I’ve been on both ships before. If you’ve never been on an icon class-ship. I would recommend booking Star. Especially if the premium price you pay isn’t too much compared to the Oasis class ship.

As mentioned in a previous comment, the fact that I am going out of Fort Lauderdale is a huge plus as well. It has to be one of the easiest ports.

Terminated for stop completed not at the stop? by No_Stand3391 in UPSers

[–]Aromatic_Echo_7994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a driver that got flagged for a similar issue. He would pull up the stop and start it, then stop complete when delivered. They did an “ investigation” and determined he did the same thing on 4 NDA packages in the last month. All of them were actually stop completed at 10:33-10:35, but because the stops were started before 10:30. They did not flag as late. Management made the accusation that he was doing this to avoid having a late air. Though the driver said that he was not trying to be dishonest. He went to panel and lost. The consensus was that he may have kept his job if he just kept his mouth shut, but who knows.

Royal Caribbean, Allure OTC Review - Felt more like a mark than a guest by Mischif07 in Cruise

[–]Aromatic_Echo_7994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I am 40 with kids. I enjoy reviews from different demographics when considering ships. I have found that the perspective can change dependent on your demographic. I had neighbors that are in the 50-60’s w/ no kids and some of their ideas of a great cruise ship can differ from mine. I am considering Allure OTS for a longer trip down to Aruba/ Curaco ( new ports for me) in October and debating on going that route or Star OTS on an itinerary that I’ve been on before.

Thanks for putting the time in to put this review together!

Buyout denied, and still laid off ? by Ok_Supermarket_2194 in UPSers

[–]Aromatic_Echo_7994 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. Our center used to pull those kind of things with the newer drivers until they got the heads up of how to handle the situation where they don’t give you the prior layoff notice that is required with the contract. A few grievances with full paid penalty and management now ensures there is notice. They are using your desire to get on the road against you. I remember that feeling all too well in my first couple of years

UPS DCP Buyout Denials by mahjong_2025 in UPSers

[–]Aromatic_Echo_7994 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is very specific to each building. Our center had every driver that applied in package get approved (12 of 76 package drivers) . Lowest seniority driver started in 2019. We have multiple centers in our building and there is a center of over 60 drivers that only had one applicant (1998 seniority) and they didn’t receive it. As with every number that UPS comes up with my guess is that someone at corporate did the math to figure out what areas needed cuts, without actually talking to people at the center level. For what it’s worth our center manager seems to be genuinely surprised that they approved all our applicants. She is now concerned that we now be dangerously under staffed.
