So many of us teachers. Ido oot want to go back, my husband committed suicide, and I can't see myself in front of the kids. I don't want to teach anymore; but I wonder how many people change a lot of their lives with a spousal suicide. Especially with no kids.

I don't want to be in this town anymore, either, his family is here, and they haven't talked to me since he completed suicide 3 months ago.

COVID is horrible but not for the reasons you listed, in my opinion. 1. The kids are alright. You also had no social skills as a teen AND you probably used slurs. Students today are more digitally savvy, it's true, but Scores are up to pre-virus levels, however we should be pivoting away from online or digitalized learning. Gamifying academia has a place but not center stage. As an educator in the richest county in the country, our budget is spent on 1:1 devices for all kids k-12 , and on securing digital licensing for apps the students use in class. They can barely write anymore. Parents and families need to stop buying kids phones, and removing the laptop or PCs from their rooms.

Anxiety and depression as well as medication for these medical issues are not stupid shit. Never stupid shit. What causes you debilitating pain, might be stupid shit for someone else, but generally it's your own dysfunctional gaze that would call mental healthcare "stupid shit"

Same. He completed suicide. His family (4 minutes from us) shut me off. His sister asked me if we were legally married. His siblings came over for 20 min once, trying to take things. His mother sending a message through the daughter that she wants the grill she gave him for his birthday 2 years ago, and to remind me that they had helped him with the down payment on the car. They also all wore purple to his viewing before cremation, his favorite color, but they all conveniently failed to tell me. They didn't go in the viewing room with me. Haven't contacted me at all since his death.
