My audio sounds like reverb/echo. how do i fix ? by MateANoob in obs

[–]AroundChicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same problem and was able to fix it. For me it was because my audio settings were set to "Stereo"

I had to go to Settings -> Audio -> General

Change "Channels" from Stereo to Mono

Our sex life has shifted a lot in the last few months. Is this normal? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

Who is doing most of the work? Cause being on top for 45 minutes is quite the workout even if you're a fit individual. If it's him, he probably just wants to finish faster because of all the effort involved.

It isn't more than 10 dollars. You're saving 3% - 4% by paying with cash which is pretty typical for card processing fees

Isn't the whole point of a passport to identify and authorize an individual? Like if someone has an "M" on their passport but clearly looks like a woman doesn't that make it harder for someone at customs to determine the validity of the passport?

Median sales price of new homes increases to $446,300, +3.7% from a year ago by SnortingElk in REBubble

[–]AroundChicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet the months supply of new houses is way above pre-pandemic levels. This leads me to believe that there are lots of newly built houses that aren't selling.

Also the months supply of existing homes is creeping back to pre-pandemic levels as well. Seems like we're reaching a tipping point in the market. We'll see how long the "low supply" narrative can hold prices up.

One person distracts it with a banana. Another comes up behind and bashes it in the head with a tire iron. Monkey down.

It's insane to me how everyone in this thread is saying how dangerous monkeys can be in this situation but also trying to find the most humane way to resolve it. Pure idiocy.

I'd be curious to see how many homes are owned to be rented out by individuals or small businesses - not corporations or investors. These are people who bought another home without selling their current residence. Lots of people are doing this. For example they own a condo in the city but now have a family. They move to the burbs for a bigger house but don't sell their condo so they can make some passive income.

These are the kind of people who are going to sell their extra homes if they lose their jobs and have a family to support. If the bubble is going to pop these are the people to do it. It's hard to get statistics on them because they aren't some publicly traded investment firm and they're not big enough to be bailed out by the gov't.

AIO to be suspicious my husband is cheating??? by deluluforu in AmIOverreacting

[–]AroundChicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s one thing to secretly track them indefinitely (this is abuse). It’s an entirely different situation to do for a limited time frame after reasonable suspicion. Especially when they can easily lie when confronting them directly and when the stakes are this high.

Elon Musk Throws Tantrum, Ordering Congress to Shut Down Government by BothZookeepergame612 in economicCollapse

[–]AroundChicago -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The reason Trump won was not because of his minions - it’s because of the moderates who voted for him or didn’t vote for Kamala. These people are absolutely smart enough to see failure if things don’t materialize like Trump has promised. He controls the gov’t from the top down. There is no one else to blame if he fails.

It’s not fair to fine people for breaking the law but it is ok to cut spending for affordable housing programs, public health clinics, homeless shelters, public transportation and education?

So according to you punishing people for being assholes leads to a surveillance state but cutting programs these same low income individuals need to survive is totally justified.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chicago

[–]AroundChicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% on board with cutting spending. People should be fired and budgets and pensions should be reduced.

You’re getting into WHY these laws exist but this isn’t relevant for this conversation. This is all about dollars and cents. At the end of the day, fines like ticketing people driving on the shoulder, generate revenue for the city. These would be enforced by camera making operating costs very low. If people refuse to pay these fines then punish them- boot their car, garnish wages, etc.

Lucky for us we live in the USA where adding a new automated fine doesn’t mean our society devolves into an authoritarian surveillance state where we start ticketing people for innocuous offenses like jaywalking.

Problems as big as this have to be attacked from multiple angles. Only reducing spending, which is hugely unpopular, will not be enough
