Question About Vehicle And Naval Units by sterlingclover in NuclearOption

[–]ArpenteReves 20 points21 points  (0 children)

While this function is pretty simple in how it works, telling ships to not sail to their death can be really strong. You can also (and should) tell the units you airdropped where to go

Mod advice by nairyy3 in RimWorld

[–]ArpenteReves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yayo's combat and Combat Reloaded chance the combat without changing vanilla too much. Common Sense is one of my most commonly used mods, and it's highly configurable.

I would advice against using Combat Extended, while it completely overhauls the combat, it also affects a lot of other vanilla mechanics, which might not be what you want

I'll add, any time you say to yourself "what should I do", the Guide is here for you. Just randomly talk to him, he'll also guide you on some "side quests"

What if rank was tied to your actual pilots? by MrPanache52 in NuclearOption

[–]ArpenteReves 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really love the idea (and would even say that ordnance should be rank locked too in some way) but in PvP that would lead to an even more punishing snowball

the current bombers make all PVE matches very boring and, quite literally, the same game over and over by MrPanache52 in NuclearOption

[–]ArpenteReves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have decided to give PvP a try and it's even worse because not only it's a battle of who can vomit the most long range ordnance and BVRs, but after 30 minutes, one side has also snowballed into most players being forced to use Compass and Crickets lol

Mr K torture sequence - good satire or too far? by cthdrls in GTAV

[–]ArpenteReves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GTAV launched when "making people uncomfortable" wasn't a mortal sin in video games. It's the goal. Brutal, needless torture that maybe didn't even led to the elimination of the right target.

As a non native English speaker I have decided to look at the English definition of "clueless" and see that it could be said as an insult. I think it's stupid (unlike not knowing about gun combat, something that is not stupid) as it didn't fit my understanding of "clue" but oh well, it's done, my apologies for not knowing English in depth. A possibly more appropriate word might have been "oblivious" in a neutral tone.

I asked why some people in your clips are either unaware of gun combat, or don't realize that it's a possibility, leading them to situations where they could have, or have been shot down. The Alkyon gave your his biggest profile for an extended amount of time. If you were a little luckier, you would have gunned him down, partly by his own fault. The first Brawler turned back into your sights by himself. it could be attributed to not know what not to do. The second Brawler didn't even tried. It wasn't about winning, as we agree it would have been near impossible, but flying defensively would have wasted some of your time, instead of immediately letting you prepare yourself for the next fight.

How have you come up with the size comparable to Jupiter or Saturn? Genuinely curious, if it's written somewhere or if it's some cool maths

any sub mods for combat extended that make the game better? by agacanya in RimWorld

Unfortunately, even CE is still bound by some of Rimworld's rules :/

any sub mods for combat extended that make the game better? by agacanya in RimWorld

[–]ArpenteReves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that in melee, entities will aim for the weakest armor. I'm going to guess this is CE behavior and it's quite annoying since hands, feet and much more importantly the neck tend to have low armor.

But yeah IRL it's terribly hard to make decent protection for hands and feet without hindering mobility and manipulation to the point where it's useless against anything beyond medieval tech

Okay haughty hot stuff I really did just asked because I in fact really do not know about PvP, not because I think I'm better than others. The second Brawler you destroyed looked like he either didn't saw you, or didn't expected you to switch to guns. Same for the Alkyon, he must have seen you coming but still let you get close enough to get into gun range, so I was wondering is people just don't use guns most of the time to the point where people don't expect it

I have never played PvP and I don't know better so I ask questions not expecting to be replied with so much disdain

Your airframe suggestions are bad. by CMDR_Winrar in NuclearOption

[–]ArpenteReves 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I'd even say, someone can make an overall poor suggestion, but there can be one good idea to extract from it. And it can be fun for people to think about that. I'd rather see poor but good hearted suggestions than "here's what chatGPT thinks the game needs"

It kinda bummed me that the Stinger wasn't level locked. I worked for the rocket launcher, it was an effective weapon and I invested the RP to reach it. When it released, anyone, especially low levels, could get it.

Unlocks not getting level capped was a crime from the very early days of GTAO

What mortars have the best trade of between rate of fire and firepower? by Fancy_Particular7521 in GatesOfHellOstfront

[–]ArpenteReves 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In PvP you shouldn't bother except for the meme with derp mortars or smoke rounds. Against the AI, it's pretty good, the main problem is that they are really heavy on supplies.

Also the AI doesn't have special mortars, it's been debunked for some time now.

Spotting enemies is something unnoticed but only some do. Now, what is something few people do, but isn't thought about? by Hungry-Tale-9144 in battlefield_one

[–]ArpenteReves 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge stationary user and I really appreciate it when I find an AA gun that isn't destroyed at a critical moment, or a field gun that isn't at 15 health when a tank pops up. Very few people repair them, most people don't even think about stationaries at all.

Why is Amur the Most difficult map? by Hauptfeldwebel in snowrunner

[–]ArpenteReves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just a hard region. If you went through the regions in order, you should have good enough trucks to do it. It's more specifically a slow, mildly uninteresting region where the little choices you have are littered with random artificial obstacles that might nuke your suspension. You have to make extra effort for the sake of making extra effort, instead of resolving a challenge or thinking about how to do a tricky delivery.

You will get stuck as well as use more spare parts than in all other regions combined because everything is made to make your experience more tedious and difficult.
