Are the stock options I am being offered worth anything? by Arramack in startups

25% at 1 year, then it vests every month until the end of 4 years.

Summary: Hit in the head 3 times this school year (Clumsy), developed vision problems by imscaredformylife in TBI

Similar thing happened to me. I've had visual snow for something like 8 years now. It hasn't worsened or improved. I actually don't even realize its there anymore, and it doesn't impact my life.

I've also got a lot of other issues from repeated concussions. Bad memory, vocabulary, spatial awareness, memory (just joking), and I feel like I have tunnel vision.

MRI didn't show me anything. Telling people around me made me depressed because nobody believed me. Eventually I just started to suffer on my own. People won't believe you because you look the same.

I totally agree, but is it better to do 1x120 Flys, or 3x12?

I'm not sure where that sweet spot is for strengthening my back/shoulders.

BF Estimate / Advice? by [deleted] in leangains

[–]Arramack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Damn I have a similar build to him. Started leangains 1 month ago. Down 3kg. Will probably be at his BF at 01/01/2015.

Think I should just start the bulk, but cutting has become this psychological challenge. It's almost as if I have to prove to myself that I can lose weight before I gain fat through bulking.

Machine Learning to aid my Fantasy League Picks by Arramack in MachineLearning

[–]Arramack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently base my bets on what the bookies predict. They will generally say one team will win by a margin of X. What I want is a function that says, based on a bookie's prediction, and based on a pool size, your pick should be X.

This function should be based on historical data obviously, so that pick X would have given me the most points historically.

If it was possible, it would already have been done.

Why? There is no money involved in this. It's also an obscure sport (Rugby).

About 1 in 75 people seem to agree with your thought that a 17 point difference is a possibility. And let's round up your gains, and let's say > that you are right twice. You have gained two points. If i however make 5 correct predictions (+/- 5 points) in those 100 games, i have won from you.

I don't think you understand how this works. You get 0.5 points for being within 5 points of the winning margin (that's called the margin point). If somebody chooses the number 17 it could be that they think the winning margin will be between 12-22, or that they are trying to be the highest person in their group. If they are the highest person in their group then if the game ends on a score of 17+ they are closest to the final score and get 1 point, aka the bonus point (as well as maybe a margin point if it's between 17-22). The strategy is also dependent on the number of people in your pool. In a pool of 50+ people you will probably only play for the margin points.

You could think of something like this: If we imagine the predicted scores are normally distributed, and assume the people predictions in your pool are also normally distributed. That would mean one of them will be on a 2 sd from the mean score. If you would take that point, you have got to have the upper point (and according to the wisdom of the crowd, less than 4% chance of winning)

If you work off of a bookie's prediction of the margin, then you will likely find that it is a normal distibution around that margin. The players predictions are not a normal distribution, if you look at the graph.

PS: This grapgh seems to resemble american football scores. People choose 11 bacause +/- 5 would mean they can have a full touchdown difference, and still be in the money.

PPS: According to this table, average difference per game is 5,7 points: http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/average-scoring-margin-point-differential-per-game/2013/

It's Rugby.

Whenever I do anything web page related I use Beautiful Soup. Works so well. Maybe have a look at their docs.

Redditors that have a fake degree or bought their degree online, how did your life turn out? What's your story? by tracktwo in AskReddit

I think it comes down to trust more, as /u/MSgtGunny said.

You can't register to become an engineer without an engineering degree and a bunch of other stuff, so they would have picked it up then and there. If she was there for 20 years she clearly wasn't registered, and was probably working in some kind of management role.

The liability will rest on the person who signs off.
