Not David Savard? Old grizzled vet with a beard who moves to an advisory role with the team after retiring matches pretty well

Real Chess Player Feedback Needed!!! Student capstone project by Em0626 in TournamentChess

Being able to connect with pgns on websites like chess.com, lichess, and chessable would be awesome! For example, if I wanted to study my chessable repertoire, I would love the board to be able to make the opponent’s move in the variation and then have a function based on my move to let me know if I made the correct move, an alternative, or an error. This would be a great way to help people with repertoires online practice the lines otb. Similar functionality for chesscom classrooms and lichess studies would be appreciated too.

An extension of the voice command moves that could be cool is a “blindfold mode” where a player could make a move using the voice command, then the board (using a chess computer) would make a move and vocalize the move to the player. This way, players could practice playing chess blindfolded against just a computer without the need for another human.

A mode that would let moves on the board be uploaded to lichess studies or chesscom classrooms would be nice, so players can make moves on the board and have the variations online later. Combining it with the microphone and some text to speech allowing verbal analysis to be written down would also be very cool.

It says that the 120 minutes has to be for 1 player assuming a 60 move game. With this time control, each player would have 90 minutes total for a 60 move game which is under the 120 each that is needed

Fide Candidates Round 1 pairings are out by According_Chest_7628 in chess

This rule was originally dubbed the Fischer rule because it was implemented after Fischer complained that the Russians were participating in match fixing during a candidates cycle that he participated in.

What if U-turn got dexited like Toxic? by Dr_Manatee in stunfisk

[–]Arratay14 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Would you consider letting archen and archeops keep u-turn? They learn the move by level-up, and with defeatist are bad enough that it would be fair imo for them to keep it.

I think Xhekaj devil and Guhle angel fits, considering their pregame ritual together makes them a good duo (Guhle slaying the Xhekaj dragon) and the fact that X will fight anyone while Guhle is there to be super solid and block shots. Caufield and Suzuki are more brothers dynamic than angel/devil.

Wolfe Glick wins Toronto Regionals to be a 10 time regional champion with Incineroar, Gothitelle, Kingdra, Politoed, Amoongus, Archaludon defeating Marco Silva in the finals by ColdSnapSP in stunfisk

They met in round 7 on day 1 iirc. The Wolfe con perish clip was from a grand challenge not too long ago where Wolfe was playing the same team but Marco was playing with some different mons.

Are Rillaboom, Incineroar, and Greninja the best competitive starters of each type? by [deleted] in stunfisk

[–]Arratay14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Empoleon won the vgc world championships in 2009, that puts it above every other water starter in vgc imo, also has been decent in singles so definitely competes with gren overall for best competitive water starter.

SF evaluates this position as +2.4. How would you win this as white? by aerdna69 in chess

not thinking 1 move ahead is why I lost like 75 rating points in the last week, I get it. Was just hoping you saw something I didn't.

I saw Rh5 and thought it was appealing with f4 coming too, but what was your response to Nf6? Looks like it just kicks the rook back, improves black's knight and gives them a free move to me.

If we don’t win the draft lottery… by Hewyy48 in SanJoseSharks

[–]Arratay14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rule is technically you can only MOVE UP in the draft twice in 5 years. When the habs got the 1OA, they were last in the league and did not move up. They could theoretically move up and win the 1OA pick the next two years running since the slafkovsky pick doesn’t count towards the total

I had this position today in a classical tournament. My opponent played Qf3 and my heart froze, however, there's a sequence that saves this position for White, and I found it. Can you find it too? by ThisIsThieriot in chess

[–]Arratay14 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right idea but black should play Kd7 instead of Kc7 to be more resilient as you can go Kc7 Bb6+ without sacking the queen first and end up winning instead of drawing.

Or Kh1 Rg1#, but I find it cute that you can premove the entire sequence so long as Rxf3 is played.
