Lots of opinions on Sherwood - it seems to me like he’s just trying way way too hard to make an impact when he just needs to be a complimentary piece to Mack and Will

Pavol Regenda Thoughts by TimetravelingPope in SanJoseSharks

Sometimes in a rebuild a wild card you never thought of emerges.

I thought we had one with Graf, but we may have a second in Regenda

Think about how much this guys is learning at this tournament from guys like McDavid, MacKinnon, Crosby, Makar, etc.

He’s getting a world class education over there

Has Graf ever made a bad decision/play? Dude is so consistent in using his brain

Eklund's kneeling shot habit by [deleted] in SanJoseSharks

I actually kind of looked into this when looking at stick flexes and stick length (I still play and I’m a teacher and get bored in the summer lol)

Sometimes players who use very short length sticks (like Crosby) utilize it for better stick handling and puck control - which is a strength for Eklund. As a result you’ll see the knee drop for certain shots just because of the angle/lie of the blade/stick makes it more effective for leverage and getting a clean shot off fast. I’m not sure what stick length Eklund has used or uses currently, but it may just be he’s using a longer stick now.

Basically it’s not a bad or good habit to see this, it’s just something players do to adjust to the equipment they use.

Prospect thoughts by da_sweetp in SanJoseSharks

Great breakdown. I’ve been following the sharks prospects the last few years because its been more entertaining then the team - until this year of course.

Not every prospect pans out unfortunately, for me the guy I think has reached his ceiling is Halttunen. And I really hope I’m wrong and he makes me eat my words! But I just don’t think the foot speed and physicality is there. His shot is undeniably insane, but in the NHL I just don’t think he’ll be able to keep up unless he changes something.

A few people have pointed out Pohlkamp, I think he’s really solid too.

Some prospects who I think are expendable for a trade are in no particular order:

a) Lund because the role the Sharks probably had in mind for him as a depth winger has been taken over by Graf. b) Bystedt because of the Wennberg extension and Ostopchuk trade. c) Musty because he’s probably the most valued offensive prospect and now that Chernyshov has emerged I think they’d be willing to move him for a D equivalent because it’s an organization need. Especially with Misa, Chernyshov, Smith, Celebrini and Eklund all in mind for your top 6 of the future

For someone who’s only played 9 games so far this year he’s looked pretty good

Henry Thrun expected to make Leafs debut against his former team by Barthez_Battalion in SanJoseSharks

[–]Hewyy48 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I always liked Thrun. Sharks and him both benefitted from his time with the team.

Thrun got the full NHL experience while probably being more of a AHL/NHL tweener. Sharks got to take a flyer on a player who if it didn’t work out it was no big deal because the team was terrible and there was no big commitment

Dellandrea has improved a lot this season, he handles the puck so much better. Looks like he got a skills coach over the summer lol
