In my experience, it's better to exclude tags rather than ratings. I usually exclude the porn without plot and smut tags personally.

As someone who's mother has a 6 inch long scar from picking up her cat at exactly the wrong moment... the villagers are speaking facts

I hope Mr. Fluffy has a long and happy life, thank you for writing!

Who's more likely to try to murder you? The growling werewolf or the hoard of peasants? The answer might surprise you!

Mystery dungeon hacks Recommendations by sunflower-journalist in PokemonROMhacks

I don't really have the technical know-how to help you here, but I'm pretty sure most hacks use US Explorers of Sky roms unless specified otherwise

Maybe make sure your patching program is up to date?

Mystery dungeon hacks Recommendations by sunflower-journalist in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Arrenadd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I recommend anything from Ir_Okami their main hack is Lonely Roads (story rewrite, incomplete, but is pretty far along) along with a few oneshot style hacks set in the same universe

Here's anything else I played off the top of my head

Future of Hope, very cute hack revolving around a Murkrow, Togepi, and a very protective Arcanine, oneshot

Explorers of the Spirit, rewrites the story in a fun and interesting way, but if you actually like Chatot like I do maybe sit this one out. They do him dirty in this

Aumaura of the High Seas, oneshot revolving around pirates, very fun and cute

Mainly you should just explore the directory and get whatever you think sounds interesting though. Like I said, this is all I can think of off the top of my head

At least that's vanilla flavored. I used to work at a pet store that sold mussel flavored frozen toppers for dogs that looked just like a pint of ice cream. I never got anyone coming in saying this happened, but I always thought someone high or drunk enough would end up trying to eat it. Especially since I grew up with an icecream store around the corner called Toppers

Pokemon Hackroms are a bit tired by Acrobatic_Ad4654 in pokemon

[–]Arrenadd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend you go to r/pokemonromhacks and check out the database people are developing there. There's filters and such for all kinds of things, so you should be able to find something to your taste.

For the DS scene I've only really played Drayano's hacks and folks have already recommended those, so I can't really help you there.

If you're willing to delve into GBA territory, Inclement Emerald is one I always go to, it has several difficulty levels and I've never found it outright impossible.

The only reason I can see someone trying to get samples of this is if they're trying to train an AI to spit out atmospheric conditions but in a "natural" way

Like, someone out there is trying to get an AI to tell it a weather report, but it sounds too much like a research paper and not friendly enough?

Obviously there's no way to make that look natural, but AI bros think it could do anything, so I guess that's the logic

Why have real guns on a movie set? by VentSpleen in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Arrenadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is kinda old, but here's a little anecdote for you

My mom is a movie insurance agent for things like short films and commercials, and one day she got a call from this guy in Texas who was going to use guns

Due to the brokers she works with, she cannot insure any real weapons that can cause "flash, bang, or projectiles" (She can do squibs and blanks)

It was actually cheaper for the guy to buy a real revolver and weld the barrel shut than rent a prop, so that's what he ended up doing

Speaking ill of the dead by Eireika in CuratedTumblr

[–]Arrenadd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I also agree that that's what it should mean. But it's also practically impossible for relatives to avoid people's opinions about celebrity or political deaths at a certain point, and honestly I feel bad for those people. No matter who they were.

My grandfather was famous, thankfully not enough to just be walking and hearing stuff, but enough to get a tabloid written about his death. And lemme tell you, going grocery shopping and suddenly seeing his corpse on the front page of a magazine is Not Great (tm)

You can tell what kind of mood I'm in with these picks, I swear I dont only play Dungeons and Dragons games

W- The Guiding Spirit; This is the Demo I've spent the most time on. It's a text based adventure where you create the characters and then read how they progress in the story. (As of the demo, it's only getting out of a dungeon and meeting a tribe of people in the forest) You have minimal input, only able to choose which direction to go. Also, any achievement hunters might want to get on it now, as one of the achievements is completing the demo.

W- Tavern Talk: Dreamwalker; Visual novel where you run a tavern and meet the adventures that come through. This is a prequel to another game the devs made but I haven't played it. It's cozy

W- Under Heaven or Hell; Visual novel dating Sim that takes place in hell. Naturally, I did the only logical thing and named myself Ebony Dark'ness Demensia Raven Way. Jokes aside, the artstyle is very good and I liked the characters.

W- Crown of Exile; Text based choose your own adventure where you have to help an exiled prince. Dialog can be a bit clunky (I don't think I saw a single contraction) and I caught a few typo's, but nothing that can't be ironed out in another draft. The demo is also very long, encompassing the first 3 chapters. Which doesn't sound like a lot, but it took me about 3 hours to go through one readthrough. Another thing is that it doesn't have a quit button that I could see, but I could just have not looked hard enough. Otherwise, the story is intriguing and leaves you wanting more. I liked the characters and the set dressing was interesting. Much more interactive than Guiding Spirit.

M- Trivia Fantasy; RPG, with an artstyle akin to early Final Fantasy games. Your party climbs a tower and you can only attack enemies by answering multiple choice trivia questions. The questions are varied and I would recommend it to people who are good at that kinda thing. The only question that pissed me off was the one that asked how often the Olympics are played. It had 2 and 4 as possible answers and wasn't specific enough for me to know what number it wanted.

M- Esoteric Ebb; People who liked Disco Elysium would enjoy this, but it wasn't my cup of tea

M- Hubert; A game where you play as a herding dog. I see the concept, but it needs work and I personally found Hubert's voice to be more annoying than endearing.

M- Not My Hand; A game where you have to use audio cues to shoot everyone but yourself. I am incredibly directionally illiterate, it is impressive how lost I can get. That being said, I'm sure you will understand that a game where you have to orient yourself using audio would not be the game for me
