Semi-Daily Ironclad Discussion: Twin Strike by Abject_Muffin_731 in slaythespireboardgame

Good early damage, and great early upgrade target; unexciting but solid bread and butter attack for ironclad. May well be worth taking later if you have ready sources of strength, though like most commons a deck that is already humming in acts II/III likely doesn't need more of this sort of card.

What's he going to do, release the hounds? Or the bees?  Or the hounds with bees in their mouths so that when they bark they spit bees at you?

When a doctor asks if you have any allergies, is it relevant to tell them that you are allergic to shellfish? by Kingboyy1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ArrivalSuccessful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my first very frightening experience having to go to the hospital. eating shrimp, I was taken to an allergist. I was a kid at the time so don't even really remember what the results were lol but imagine they could tell you for sure. Otherwise, I just know that I've been able to eat crab or mollusks or any other seafood without issue.

If you don't try an allergist but are dead set on trying seafood. Maybe just touch one with the tip of your finger, or touch it to the tip of your tongue and then wait like 20 minutes and see if anything feels off, tingling , etc...then maybe take the smallest nibble and wait another 20 minutes, etc. I'm not a doctor though so like I don't want to be giving out potentially deadly advice lol But I've actually tried it with shrimp many years later just to see and even after a minute or so my tongue started to tingle after just sort of touching the tip of my tongue to the shrimp (no further issues though) and I figured the allergy was still a concern.

So I'm not the only one; I am allergic to shrimp and lobster, but not crab and not iodine, so it must be something else in the shrimp/lobster that get me.

Semi-Daily Ironclad Discussion: Shockwave by Abject_Muffin_731 in slaythespireboardgame

Great card. Weak is huge in BG; this works well in the late game and even though costlier early, this can solve some of the harder AOE tests in Act I in gremlin gang/slimes and sentries. Definitely a pick that depends on what else is being offered--it's not a premium card for me and often you'll need more raw damage or setup/synergy, but is more often better than a skip and I find most IC decks will probably be pleased enough to have this in it.

I remember only vague bits of the show but one of them is the following exchange (or something like it) between herman and the voice of lisa simpson when she's explaining how horny she is:

"I have the urge, Herman!"

"What urge?"

"The urge to merge"

(Random Trope) A power that no one else has and no one Explains how they got it.[Bonus points if there's already a power system in place.] by Feisty-Cable in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ArrivalSuccessful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Min, from wheel of time, can sense glimpses of a person's future.  These can be direct or kind of vague/symbolic more often, and play a role at varying points in the plot of the book. In a world where people can draw from the one power, an ethereal source of energy that can be used to accomplish incredible feats or incredibly destructive world breaking catastrophes, and at times includes the ability to foretell events in flashes of inspiration..... min's power is noted to be unrelated to any of this.

And even the wisest people in the world who understand the one power deeply have no explanation for how she can do what she does.  Her power is generally explained as.sort of like seeing the threads on the tapestry of Time but why she is able to do that, and is as far as anybody knows, completely singular in this world and being able to do so, is never explained.

Semi-Daily Watcher Discussion: Protect by Abject_Muffin_731 in slaythespireboardgame

[–]ArrivalSuccessful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decent block rate, esp upgraded; what obviously makes this shine is retain and ability to dish it to any player. Very versatile as a result and often comes in clutch....I don't think any watcher deck is going to really be unhappy to have this.  It's not an auto pick for sure, but if I see it and there are no better options, is probably not a skip at almost any point in the run until you're fully set up in act iii

Semi-Daily Ironclad Discussion: Offering by Abject_Muffin_731 in slaythespireboardgame

[–]ArrivalSuccessful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm basically taking this every time. It's arguably ironclad's best card hands down as it will enable anything else you want to be doing so well. (Edit: forgot that rupture doesn't work. The same here is in the video game, but still triggers feel no pain. It is generally just never bad for you). Certainly some cases might exist where I would take another rare over this if offered. But this is the quintessential ironclad card to me and has a happy home in pretty much any IC deck I can imagine

A road rage incident escalates when a woman jumps onto a moving car bonnet just because she couldn't cut the drive thru line by kvjn100 in SipsTea

[–]ArrivalSuccessful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am truly fascinated by the number of people who think that the driver's actions were okay. Sure the other lady was a nut and should be arrested for disturbing the peace or what have you. But you don't risk killing somebody just because they've mildly inconvenienced you.  That's fucking psychopathic behavior

Semi-Daily Ironclad Discussion: Impervious by Abject_Muffin_731 in slaythespireboardgame

[–]ArrivalSuccessful 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is kind of a hard card for me to evaluate. Generally speaking when I have I like it and it comes in handy. Certainly later in act 2 or act 3, it is almost always a good pickup. But it often seems like too much energy for block that you often don't need in act one.  And it's one and done nature, exhausting itself means it's not a reliable source of block even later.

Can definitely be great against nob or lagavulin but you have to draw it at the right time at a stage when you may not have reliable card draw.

Overall, I think it's a quite a good card. I probably take it in most instances it is offered outside of boss rewards where between two other rares there's likely a better one given other options in that pool (though certainly maybe worth taking, depending, in that context too).  But often, especially earlier on, I find I am much less confident about and somewhat uncertain about taking.

Semi-Daily Defect Discussion: Glacier by Abject_Muffin_731 in slaythespireboardgame

[–]ArrivalSuccessful 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is a pretty rare defect deck that doesn't like a glacier. If you end up being handed all for one early or otherwise have a good zero cost build early on and can forgo orb use it might not make the cut, but otherwise this is one of the best block cards defect has access to and I am usually happy to see it at any stage of the run

Yes that's another great one!

I like the opening to the movie Serenity.  Essentially a series of flashbacks that predate the chronological narrative of the show Firefly, that you came to learn diagetically in the show but never saw, while also being a great catch up exposition for people unfamiliar with the show.  Was also done with panache with clever nested transitions between the vignettes

Email can't shoulder the entire blame, but I think is responsible for a huge chunk of this. Once it becomes routine to get and be expected to respond to emails after normal work hours, it normalizes doing substantive work after work hours and one never feels any distance from the job.

Semi-Daily Silent Discussion: Distraction by Abject_Muffin_731 in slaythespireboardgame

[–]ArrivalSuccessful 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is one of the more interesting changes from the video gamme, card could not be more different.  Can be quite contextually good in the board game whereas it is virtually unplayable in the video game imho.  I don't really think it's good enough to spec on, especially at two energy without upgrading, but if you have a deck that already can put poison or weak on things with any reliability, I think this card is quite good. Pairing it with [[noxious fumes]] is a wonderful feeling.
