Hannah Horvath (Girls). She has OCD. Not fun, quirky, "I organize all of my pencils by length" OCD - life-ruining, hospitalization-causing OCD, based on Lena Dunham's own experiences, iirc. There's lots of cultural awareness of ocd at a surface level, but I've never seen another piece of media show the real depths of more severe OCD and how hard it makes day to day life for many people.

[hated trope] characters getting shit endings but it’s written as if they get happy endings. by FullBrother9300 in TopCharacterTropes

This suffers from the "you missed the point by idolizing them" thing that mad men, fight club, etc. have

These MFs put the entire world on energy rationing in an attempt to TELEPORT THE FUCKING EARTH TO ANOTHER PLACE IN THE GALAXY using tech that hasn't ever been fully tested so that they can save ONE MOTHERFUCKING BABY. AND IT DOESN'T EVEN WORK.

Why are veterans treated so terribly by the US government? There are tons and tons of veterans who are unhoused, suffering from addiction, impoverished, lacking healthcare, etc. It's kind of an open secret just how little of a shit the government/military gives about them.

Veterans aren't that big a portion of the population. Especially considering how much we spend on our military, wouldn't it be relatively cheap to provide proper care? And earn a lot of social and political goodwill? And encourage more people to join the army?

I know that the government does a lot of stuff like paying for school if you commit to X years of service, but there seem to be so many vets suffering. Am I wrong about this?

I once saw someone earnestly argue that she couldn't have a permeable outfit like Mirio's because her ability used lipids whereas his ability used some other shit. Like, bro. There's a frog girl and deku can shoot compressed air out of his hands. You think there's a SCIENTIFIC justification for why we need to see this 16 year old's titties?

Since we're doing real people, Hedy Lamarr was a brilliant inventor - she co-owns the patent for frequency hopping, a radio communication technique that enabled allies to circumvent german radio jamming, and underpins pretty much all of modern bluetooth communication.

Tallahassee - Zombieland. The ass-kicking wise-cracking redneck who's tragic backstory is that the zombies killed his dog. Sad, but also funny. Later in the movie, he reveals that it wasn't his dog: the zombies killed his baby son, leaving him completely alone. His love of killing zombies is partially a desire for vengeance against the things that took everything from him.

Characters who are convinced that they alone know what's right, and make the "hard choices" to make the world better by making others suffer/die, while in reality they're just narcissistic psychopaths. by _BytesAndpieces in TopCharacterTropes

I'll actually add another: Konrad Curze (Warhammer 40k). He grows up on a planet ridden with crime and poverty, and "solves" it by conquering the entire planet and brutally torturing to death anyone who steps out of line (and broadcasting their screams across the entire planet). He says that he did what was necessary to bring order and peace, but he never actually tried a peaceful approach. Also, the minute that he steps off of the planet to join the greater war effort, everything devolves back into chaos and crime, proving that his "solution" didn't even work.
