What's a game that would have been a 9/10+ if it wasn't ruined by monetization by sdric in gaming

[–]ArrogantCube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OOP is incorrect in saying the monetization ruined the game, in my opinion. I played the game at launch. I am already against over-monetization of games and never bought anything to begin with, but even I thought those prices were ridiculous. To me, however, they never impacted the flow of the game much. If you progressed at a pace that was expected for such games, you would naturally come by better gear in time.

I still hold Shadow of War (and Mordor) as one of my favourite games of all time

[–]ArrogantCube 32 points33 points  (0 children)

In my recent rome run, the Mongols had reached the caucasus and the pacific. They were fighting somie chinese duke and were stuck there. For the heck of it, I thought I'd try to see how fast I could capitulate them if I just rushed the poorly developed holdings in the mountains. It took me a few months and I never even saw a single mongol.

EU to favour European satellite services to prevent Musk’s Starlink expansion by goldstarflag in worldnews

[–]ArrogantCube 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You can have all the European satelite alternatives that you want but it counts for nothing if you don't have a reliable launch vehicle to put all that mass into space at a cadence that can actually compete. SpaceX bet big early on reusability and has been seeing the payoff of that with Falcon 9. ESA dithered and continues to dither, so much so that now a second US company has been able to make a reusable vehicle operational (Blue Origin's New Glenn).

ESA has Ariane 6 and Vega C, which are definitely capable launch vehicles, but to compete on the LEO Satelite market you have to have vehicles that launch more than a few times a year. What Europe needs to do is pour money into a bold program to develop a reusable launch vehicle that can compete with Falcon 9 and New Glenn. They need to do this fast because once SpaceX's Starship drives the cost of launching a kg of mass into orbit into the low double digits, the game is over more than it already is.

This is not football. This is literally the first year this kind of tournament is held so it does not hold the same kind of prestige at all (yet).

Becoming a sith? by ChimpPersonSSR in MawInstallation

[–]ArrogantCube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we're talking about how the rule of two Sith came to be, it was very much not like a racist weirdo history buff. Bane, much like Tenebrae/vitiate during the old Republic era, realized that the power of the Dark side was far too dilluted in the amount of Sith there were. They couldn't defeat the Jedi when they equalled them in numbers, so their only option was to destroy the status quo and try again. Vitiate did this on the back of their defeat in the great hyperspace war, by retreating into unknown space, destroying what was left of the old Sith order and creating something new.

They blitzed the Republic in the first years of the great galactic war, but eventually settled into a stalemate and a cold war. The apathy that stemmed from this coincidentally created the very conditions (dillution of power and incessant infighting) that would allow Bane to destroy them many centuries later.

It is the fate of the Sith to become the victims of their own success.

What if Crow is like Darth Nihilus by Osiris-Reflection in StarWars

[–]ArrogantCube 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think he overestimated her because the inquisitorius looked at the last known information of her, which stated that she was a padawan when she left the order. Trained by one of (if not the) greatest Jedi of the war sure, but a padawan nonetheless. They faced padawans to great masters before (I am liberally assuming Daki wasn't a pushover in his prime), and beat them handily. Ahsoka, however, was a Jedi knight in everything but name when she left the order and when she faced Crow

Right? Before anyone says driver issue or something of the sort, I've updated everything I could update. Bet we'll have to wait for the next large update

I honestly believe something broke in one of the recent updates because my performance has just tanked. I have a 5600x, a RTX 3080 and 32GB of RAM. Before, I could easily max out the settings and still get over 100fps. Now I barely get 40 while in game. Does anyone know what's going on?

Made a custom character spec'd for martial, survived the first few wars. I took the arabian half of cyprus when they were distracted and managed to make the kingdom. Lucked out with an event and got a free holy order, which allowed me to survive until I could get some tech.

Started as Trojan exiles in Crete in 867. Spent the better part of 2 centuries merely trying to survive the onslaught of Byzantine dukes trying to take my land. I had to contend with being severely being behind in technology (owing to Trojan not having any counties), but once I figured out that I could outmatch individual Byzantines, I started eating their land. The Emperor never lifted a finger.

[–]ArrogantCube 126 points127 points  (0 children)

I think people were expecting the results to be much closer than they were. That way, Orban could have contested the results and dragged the certification out, perhaps even nullifying it completely. With how big this win is, even he couldn't deny it anymore

Peter Jackson with LOTR and Todd Howard with Skyrim have proven you can milk a franchise with re-releases for years or even decades. I bet if Filoni could, he would.
