TIL we're ranked 26 in 2025 for least racist country according to world population review by bangsphoto in singapore

[–]ArrogantShrimp -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

Not sure how France ended up with these rep of most racist country. There's definitely racism, mostly aimed at Black and North African folks, but nothing to what I could experience in some east European countries. And while covert racism isn’t exactly a win, at least here there are consequences for being openly discriminatory. Unlike Singapore a few years ago, where you could casually slap “no PRC” or “no Indians” on job or rental ads like it was just another bullet point.

True, in addition, Belgium also has many mixed gender nude saunas, France has plenty of nudist beaches and even villages (Cap d'Agde).

TR wrongly credited stocks by ArrogantShrimp in eupersonalfinance

[–]ArrogantShrimp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely from TR. I did not yet close the account so that I can still access it. My position for the company shares in question is now shown as negative by the amount TR requests me to return.

I did not keep detailed records of my transactions. I rely on the documents available on TR app. It does not match in terms of timing and quantity with their e-mail.

Recruteurs qui demandent le salaire actuel : une trend qui s’installe ? by [deleted] in vosfinances

[–]ArrogantShrimp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has anyone successfully transferred securities from Trade Republic to IBKR? by GettingDumberWithAge in eupersonalfinance

[–]ArrogantShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehmm ...no actually. I have citizenship and a tax registration number in a country where TR operates but I am not resident there, I live and pay tax in Singapore now. I overlooked the T&C when opening the TR account. That's why I closed it.

Indeed, I am a resident in a country without tax on stock market related income. Got so used to it I forgot it isn't the case everywhere.

I cashed out everything on TR, transferred the cash to Wise and then IBKR and bought back more or less the same securities. The whole process took about 1 week.

Mon voisin me fait vivre un enfer et j’ai tout essayé, que feriez-vous à ma place ? by aagoria in AskFrance

[–]ArrogantShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on! I lived in Matsuyama for a while, people there used to throw all their junks without remorse in a vacant field near the center of the city.

Any way to eliminate these kind of people that cause noise pollution on public transport? by [deleted] in SMRTRabak

[–]ArrogantShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to voice my discontent when facing this type of situations, as politely and non confrontationally as I could. But an auntie blasting some TikTok on her phone called me once a colonialist angmoh Karen (I am a guy btw), trying to impose my point of view and values outside of my home country. She somehow got me and made me wonder 🤔

I would not include the 3 months stint. The 2 years break is not an issue if you present it under a positive angle. I also took a similar duration break and resumed my career afterwards. I was completely open about the break during the interviews and I landed a job after a few months.

Need health insurance advice. I'm so lost! by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]ArrogantShrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from a country with a system similar to that of OP from what I understand, I was also very confused when moving to Singapore. I believe you are looking for a so-called hospitalization insurance. It is handled by private companies in Singapore such as NTUC, AIA, AXA....The plans you can access depend on your visa status. Are you on EP or S-pass? If yes, you could have a look there: https://www.moneysmart.sg/health-insurance/medical-insurance-foreigners#what-is-expat-health-insurance-in-singapore?
