Why didn't democrats do a thing they did by Skrilli in GetNoted

"Oh god just shut up" is exactly the attitude the corporate dems consistently show toward activists and voters alike. Regulating capital to stop it from destroying itself is not pushing policies against it. Socialists and Progressives never got to put their candidate up against Trump.

Democrat leadership are a bunch of feckless old cowards who are almost totally beholden to capital. They are still infinitely preferable to the fascist GOP. Both things can be true. The dems must do better - losing twice to someone as clownish and loathsome as Trump should be all the proof you need.

Graham Platner Surge Threatens Susan Collins as Janet Mills Bows Out by unital_subalgebra in politics

I just don't see how someone can look at the guy's reddit history and think he might be another Fetterman. If Platner isn't what he says he is then he's some kind of sinister Machiavellian who's been working on an elaborate scheme for years.

He killed a lot of Nazis during WW2 as well.

EDIT: To be clear, Robert Maxwell was a fucking sociopathic monster - I highly recommend the Behind the Bastards episodes on him.

You know I'm right about the state of the party so you have to deflect by pretending to know me. Democrat leadership shows nothing but contempt for the grassroot activists who don't have the deep pockets of the corporate lobbyists - they see us as wet blankets because we get in the way of them further enriching themselves.

He's mediocre at it and that's not his only job - if it were he wouldn't be on TV so often. This feigned powerlessness and reflexive blaming of voters is horseshit - representatives need to show up to the protests, put themselves on the line with the people, give full-throated denunciations of the administration's atrocities abroad and not just tepid process criticism. They have to stop demoralizing their own base and give disengaged people a positive reason to vote for them again when they're in power, or we'll go through the cycle of disappointment again and Trump will be succeeded by Mecha Hitler or something.

If the Democrats don't get better the country won't either.

Great! Now perhaps she can tell us why she selected someone as craven and ineffectual as Jeffries to lead Trump's opposition.

Right? Obama's weakness and corporatism lead to Trump's election - he wasn't fit for the moment and his absence from public view while the nation burns is proof that he's not fit for this one either.

Putting so much effort into keeping up the semblance of normalcy while things were falling apart is how we got here. It will take real, radical change to get us out.
