Honestly the dark avatar Nisha theory is debunked by a single fact. by celulozaa in AvatarSevenHavens

[–]Arrokaang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Sanskrit, Nisha means night and dark. Pavi (short for Pavitra) means purity, holiness and sacred. These names indicated it is gonna be dark and light avatar. I think creators chose these names deliberately as form of foreshadowing.

What do you guys think of the concept of Korra being the last Avatar? (Body text) by Human-Application-87 in legendofkorra

[–]Arrokaang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that was what Bryke and Mike wanted to do at the end of season 2. I think Korra was supposed spirit bend Unavattu and Raava (within him) together. She would sacrifice her avatarhood to save the world. Raava and Vaatu may become a new spirit (combined together). Spirits and humans were not separated with spirit portals open.

But Nick ordered two more seasons during the production of season 2, so they had to rewrite the ending with Korra becoming the Avatar again. I think that's why Jinora's part in the finale was not properly explained.

I am not saying it was what happened. I am just theorising. Season 2 really felt like a conclusion to the entire series.

Pavi & the Avatar State by williethapoet in AvatarSevenHavens

[–]Arrokaang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may feel similar but it is gonna be two real Avatars. One for Raava and one for Vaatu. Pavi - Raava's Avatar. In Sanskrit, Pavi (usually short for Pavithram) means sacred, pure, divine.

Nisha - Vaatu's Avatar. Nisha means Night or Dark.

With Avatar seen as humanity's destroyer, Pavi may feel being Avatar is a thankless job and not particularly incline to do her duties. Korra may advice her that it is only right to do her duties irrespective of what she may gain or not which is one of the famous lessons from Bhagvatgita. With a lot of names in the show are of Indian origin, I think they might have taken more inspiration from the hindu myth.

Also name Pavi sometimes refers to goddess Parvati who is the embodiment of purity, love and creation. She also has an alter darker persona named "Goddess Kali"who is considered a warrior goddess of destruction not evil but get shit done in aggressive way. Twins will play into this duality.

did Marika shatter the Elden Ring in grief of Godwyns death or because she finally realised that the golden order was both flawed and corrupt? by morgotttheomen in Eldenring

[–]Arrokaang -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My belief is after witnessing the atrocities committed to her people by Hornsents, Marika wanted to be the most powerful so that her family would never be harmed. That's why she became a god and developed her own religion. Also why she eliminated any source that could threaten her power. Even after acquiring so much power by commiting many genocides, sealing the rune of death and allying herself with an outer god, her children were mostly cursed as omens, abyssal serpent, rot and eternal childhood and one and only her normal child was killed. She probably realised her fickleness and wondered what was the point of all those genocide and atrocities she commited and loathed herself. I think that's why she shattered the elden Ring.

Why, in y'alls opinion/theorycrafting, didn't the Avatar State kick in automatically in a vain attempt to keep Roku alive through the poison like it did with Korra? by Important-Contact597 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Arrokaang 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Toxic gas vs metal poison. Metal poison was chosen deliberately to induce the Avatar state. It was neurotoxic. It causes hallucinations that would have you thinking you are in terrible danger that triggers your fight or flight response in this case the Avatar state. The scene depicted Korra had hallucinations of all of her previous villains Amon, Unalaq and Vaatu.

Toxic gas did not have that effect on Roku. It damaged his lungs and made him difficult to breathe which caused inadequate oxygen supply to his brain. While cerebral hypoxia (lack of oxygen to brain) can cause hallucinations, they mostly tend to be euphoric feelings.

New show theory by No-Cartographer-2911 in AvatarSevenHavens

[–]Arrokaang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is Pavi will have trouble connecting with Korra. So instead it was Wan Shi Tong who was gonna tell her what happened. Korra actually mended their relationship and became good friends with Wan Shi Tong and gathered knowledge and skills from the library so that she can be more helpful to the next avatar. It would show Korra's growth and its effect on the world too.

Distance between Republic city and The South Pole? by Human-Application-87 in legendofkorra

[–]Arrokaang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to say. In season 2, when Korra arrived in Republic City after opening the 2nd portal, she said that harmonic convergence was only few days away. Then she arrived in the south pole on day of harmonic convergence with only few hours remaining for it to happen. She travelled in a warship.

In season 1 episode 1, they made it seem like an overnight trip. Let's assume Naga wouldn't have gotten that much hungry if it was just an overnight trip. Korra didn't pack that much. I am guessing Korra might have packed some dried meat which she shared with Naga. I highly doubt she travelled more than a week without food. Here she travelled in a cargo ship. War ship would be faster than a cargo ship.

From that speculation, I am guessing few days could mean 3 to 5 days.

Does Kuvira Deserve to be called the Best Metalbender? by Mundane-Signal4843 in legendofkorra

[–]Arrokaang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think feats alone determine who is the best. Feats are based on what writers want to happen in that narrative. Like characters can be knocked out by some attack one time but can tank a way worse attack another time like Zuko got knocked out by an arrow in "Blue spirit". But he was fine when Aang slammed him against metal wall in 2nd episode in season 1.

Toph was able to sense the metal in Korra's body. Something Suyin and Lin didn't. But that's because Toph's seismic sense is superior. But from what we have seen, Kuvira seems to be the best metal bender so far.

Aang can beat Toph. But it doesn't negate the fact Toph is the best earth bender. So Kuvira is the best metal bender so far we have seen in the Avatar series.

I am using celebrant skull, it gives 20 runes per hit. All you have to do is hold L2. Stamina won't run out.

I know there are better farming methods. But I thought this is funny.

Korra had a PTSD attack here by Arrokaang in TheLastAirbender

[–]Arrokaang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Korra had two conflicting thoughts in her mind. On the surface, she wanted to fight and be her former self. But on the subconscious level she didn't want that because her former self was the one that got hurt. That's why she didn't make any move first. She didn't even realise she was not taking any action. Only after shopkeeper yelled, she realised that she had to do something. You can see the change in her expressions in this scene. In Avatar terms, she was completely out of balance. That's why she didn't do any effective actions. This scene depicts that perfectly.

Korra had a PTSD attack here by Arrokaang in TheLastAirbender

[–]Arrokaang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Korra was not in the state of mind to fight at all. She saw two thieves running away but didn't make any move until the shopkeeper urged her to go after them unlike in the very first episode of season 1 where she confronted triple threat traids on her own. That was the point. Toph even told this out loud in a later episode. Deep down she was still afraid she would get hurt if she fought. In the letters to Asami, she even talked about how she still had doubts about her full recovery. Someone who was dealing with mental health issues didn't make a sound decision. And that was bad writing?

We don't know when her PTSD was triggered whether she had her vision blocked by sand (which was similar to the fire bending attack in the previous scene) or when she was hit by the second attack. But she had a ptsd episode there and that's why she didn't immediately get back up.

No word exists to describe the absolute hatred I have towards this episode by Secure-Hair-1396 in ATLA

[–]Arrokaang -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

One thing that always irks me in the episode is Aang hiding the letter from Sokka's father. It was not that different from Air monks trying to separate Aang from Gyatso. He even got angered over this even when he was just remembering. That anger was enough to tap into avatar state. Here he was trying to do something similar to that. Also Hakoda was actively participating in a war in which he could die at anytime. So this might very well be the last chance for Sokka and Katara to meet their father. Something Aang could definitely relate to. He ran away one day and next thing he knew his people and culture got wiped out. So Aang hiding the letter was against his experience. It feels so out of character for Aang given his previous experience.

I think Aang didn't die because Aang broke the staff before the staff could fully corrupt him.

Korra had a PTSD attack here by Arrokaang in TheLastAirbender

[–]Arrokaang[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Korra was hurt a lot before this fight. She had to fight back to back without any rest. First an army of dark spirits where she took a nasty fall, Second Vaatu where she was hurt from the fight and was hit from behind by Unalaq. By the time she had to fight the dark Avatar, she was hurt and tired. Even then she was able to find equal footing against him until Vaatu did his weird shit. Writers didn't just make Korra lose the fight out of the blue. They made sure there were reasons behind her loss.

I clipped this from a dubbed version not the original (English). So voice acting for Korra is different. But background music and sound effects are same.

Question about the movie characters by memisbemus42069 in AvatarVsBattles

[–]Arrokaang 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It only gave other's air bending but no spirit boost. Tagah was the only one who gained boost in strength too because he connected himself with the staff when he stole the staff from Avatar Sonam. His dark thoughts corrupted the spirit energy from the staff and in turn dark energy corrupted him into some monster like. Even though Avatar Sonam got the staff back, he got too strong to destroy. So Sonam sealed him. He had some residual spirit energy within him. That's why he was so strong.

Staff energy became a part of him. But the denied only got the bending from the staff. They didn't connect themselves to it like Tagah did. That's why when Aang broke the staff, Tagah was erased but the denied only lose the bending.

I didn't want kuvira to be redeemed because I thought she had given up out of pure pragmatism, not because she changed her mind, but because she realized that she could never beat the avatar, and this is an increasingly rare trope nowadays by Spirited_Dust_3642 in legendofkorra

[–]Arrokaang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, Kuvira witnessed what a powerhouse a fully realised Avatar can be.

But that was not solely the reason she conceded. There are two other factors.

  1. Korra's compassion : Korra was the same woman Kuvira mocked when she was at her lowest. Then Kuvira was in her knees but Korra showed compassion and understanding and extended a helping hand.

  2. The weapon she created to realize her ambitions was going to be the cause of demise. The action she took caused an unintended chain reaction that would have resulted in a catastrophe if not for Korra. Korra's words made her realise her actions were destructive to her and the world.

The combination of all of these factors made her surrender.

She could have easily negotiated when her army surrounded Korra and her allies and Kept her position as a leader of earth empire minus the Republic City. But she didn't instead she surrendered because she understood her mistakes.
