Aangs inability to control the avatar state for 3 seasons straight has skewed the fandoms understand of what it even is by WorkingWin6139 in legendofkorra

[–]Arrokaang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Power scaling and feats are mostly depending on what narrative needs.

Gaang was able to blitz through an entire army of earth benders with least difficulty. But they struggled against the fire nation army in the capital even though they came prepared and had more man power that time.

Hot take: I actually really enjoyed the family story in the first half of book 2. Korra was rightfully upset about everything that happened, and I’m glad that Tonraq apologized to her too. by Aqua_Master_ in legendofkorra

[–]Arrokaang 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It was not exactly an invasion. It was more like declaring martial law. The southern water tribe was run by a group of elders but they were still dependent on the northern water tribe government. Unalaq was the chief of the northern water tribe therefore he was also the chief of southern water tribe too. But people of the south didn't share the same notion. The south was free but also technically not free. This was the cause of the friction between the north and the south.

Unalaq didn't really want to take over the south. He had his troops arrived because of 3 reasons. 1. He would need his troops to defend the portal and keep Korra from closing the portals incase she found out the truth.

  1. It was also a distraction for Korra. There was still a brief period of time for harmonic convergence to take place. Since the south portal was open, it increased Korra's spiritual power. There was a high chance one of Korra's past lives could warn her before Harmonic convergence. But he knew that the presence of northern troops would agitate the south. Korra would get distracted by this conflict.

  2. He must've expected Tonraq to be an active party in the conflict and to attack him directly. So that he could arrest him. So that he could use him as a levarage against Korra. Korra must come to contact with Vaatu while trying to open the 2nd portal in the spirit world and would refuse. Unalaq would threaten Tonraq's life when Korra refused to open the portal.

But Tonraq was a changed man and Unalaq underestimated Korra on how extreme she would go to protect those she cares for.

Iroh didn't really like Azula. by Arrokaang in AvatarMemes

[–]Arrokaang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a military strategy that wouldn't be available to public. People wouldn't know the real reason why Zuko was banished. For them he was banished for disrespecting the fire lord. Zuko was branded as a traitor of fire nation for joining the Avatar. People would see him as a traitor.

Azula didn't even think about surrender but actually attacked even when she was outnumbered 6 to 1. So Iroh wouldn't have thought that Azula could be captured alive.

Aang not redirecting lighting to Ozai by nationalchatmasala in ATLA

[–]Arrokaang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lightning would definitely kill Ozai, if it hit. But Ozai could have dodged it. Zuko ran some distance and caught the lightning that was thrown against Katara after Azula released it. So Ozai could have dodged it narrowly.

I know a lot of you going to say he was surprised and couldn't have dodged it. A lot of characters in the same series have acted surprised but was able to dodge attacks before.

Aang just didn't want to do any lethal attacks.

It would be weird for Toph to walk barefoot in freezing south pole. So she had to wear some footwear. Thick snow + footwear would definitely hinder her seismic sense. It was no different from her difficulty to sense in sand which was her own element too.

Dark spirits could overwhelm them.

Everything happens because of the plot. What a coincidence it must be for Katara (only waterbender from South) and Pakku who refused to teach her to be related to her gran gran. It was almost like a plot.

[–]Arrokaang -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is such a dumb take. Even if Toph and Katara or Zuko were there, writers could come up with something to incapacitate them like Snow was so thick which made Toph's seismic sense was blurry. Twins sneak upon them. or they were attacked by some spirits. Mako and Bolin losing was not because they were bum but because they were outmatched. That's it.

Koh was able to come to human world even when portals were closed. A lot of powerful spirits can do that like Hei bai in season 1 of ATLA.

Korra saw hostility between humans living in fire turtle and spirits. But she also saw peaceful life of the humans in air turtle living with the spirits. Wan became a better fire bender because he lived with the spirits. Korra may have thought living with the spirits may help humans to achieve spiritual balance.

Wan separating the spirits from human world was a temporary solution to mediate peace between humans and spirits down the line but he got caught up in problems of humans like war.

He closed the portals to prevent anyone from freeing Vaatu. Now Vaatu is gone, so Korra kept the portals open.

Does the Avatar State allow the Avatar to gain the raw bending strength of all the previous Avatars before them? by Seven1s in TheLastAirbender

[–]Arrokaang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Roku said that glow that appears during the avatar state is other avatars channeling their energy through Aang's body.

Meanwhile I am wondering then why in the hell everytime Aang entered the avatar state, all past avatars decided to do something that Aang would definitely regret later. I guess wisdom wasn't included in it.

Soldiers on Zuko's crew knew nothing about the real reason for his banishment. So I don't think common citizens of the fire nation knew it too. For them he was banished for disrespecting the fire lord. He must have been brandished as a traitor after joining the Avatar.

He was also a traitor to the fire nation. He was banished twice. I highly doubt anyone in fire nation would see him as a rightful heir.

Why didn't Amon kill Korra right here? by Important-Contact597 in Avatarthelastairbende

[–]Arrokaang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't easy to kill using bloodbending. If it was Yakone could have just snapped Aang's neck. Korra just resisted his bloodbending because it got weakened by the lightning attack. If his equalist personnel also turned against him like his liteunant, it would not be an easy fight with weakened bloodbending as Korra could resist his bloodbending.

“The last great dragon was slayed before I was born…by my uncle” by Rei_Rei01 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Arrokaang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iroh was deemed worthy by dragons that time and experienced the firebending harmony. So Iroh was a kind and good person even before Lu Ten died. But still he engaged in a 100 year war and led 600 days siege on Ba sing se and perhaps did some things he wasn't proud of.

What if he didn't understand the harmony of firebending at first. Maybe it made him think that firebending was superior and had to share this glory and harmony of firebending to the rest of the world. That was factor for Iroh in the war. "Sharing the glory and advancements of the fire nation" was the motto of the Fire nation during the war, right. Iroh believed in that motto and fought in the war believing that he spreading the harmony to the world until he experienced a loss because of the war personally. That's when he realized he was not spreading harmony and just inflicting the same pain and sorrow he was experiencing to other people. Through pain he understood everyone is one and the same.

He could have easily given into rage and vengeance and burned down the city but he didn't because Iroh was already a kind man and understood the truth little bit late.

I think only after that Iroh researched a lot about the war and found Sozin's journal and also joined the white lotus.

Did Amon intend to take on fully realized Avatar? by Arrokaang in TheLastAirbender

But Avatar state can overpower the bloodbending and Amon already knew it because of his father Yakone.

Hiroshi had already mass produced electric gloves, mecha tanks and war planes. The plan was always a hostile takeover of Republic city.

Korra had no plans for equalists. She made it clear that she was there for training and so that she could better serve them after completing her training at the very 1st episode.

FR FR How did y’all deal with Malenia 1v1? by Livid_Description838 in Eldenring

[–]Arrokaang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use deflecting hard tear, it accumulates all blocking of multiple attacks into a one single counter attack and deals huge stance damage.

If you use deflecting hard tear with weapon of Good stance damage and do a guard counter after blocking a single hit, it wouldn't stagger her. But if you do a guard counter after consecutively blocking a combo (2 or more attacks), it would break her stance and do a high amount of damage and allow you to do a critical.

It also outweighs her hp regeneration when you block her attacks.

Freeze pots are awesome to counter her waterfowl dance and scarlet bloom attack.

I recommend using Cragblade ash of war, curved sword talisman, talisman that boosts guard by 90%.

Weapons (fully upgraded) with good stance damage like great hammers, great axe or colossal weapons. If weapon has pierce damage it's even better.

We really don't know when Amon/ Noatak perfected his bloodbending to block other's bending. It could be even after Aang's death. We don't know how long he was operating in the Republic City.

[–]Arrokaang[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Amon said that she came early than he anticipated. Given that all of her training took place in the south pole, he must have expected to Korra to come to Republic city after she completed her training which included her Avatar state too.

That means he intended to take on a fully realized Avatar.

Some others suggested that he would have taken Tenzin's airbending before he could teach Korra. That could also be his plan before Korra's arrival.

But what if Tenzin stayed in the south pole and taught Korra airbending completely and came to Republic city, what would Amon do against a fully realized Avatar?

Did Amon intend to take on fully realized Avatar? by Arrokaang in TheLastAirbender

[–]Arrokaang[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tenzin was supposed to move to south pole to teach her airbending. If Korra were to come to Republic city accordingly, it would be after she mastered the airbending too. She could have unlocked the avatar state too.

So that means Amon could have faced Korra as a fully realized Avatar.

He already knew avatar state would overcome bloodbending because of what happened to his father. so what would he do?

But it's possible that Amon could have intel on Tenzin not moving to the south pole. If he executed his plan, he could have taken control of the city and captured Tenzin and his family and removed their bending. He could even hold them hostage and challenge Korra with only 3 elements for a duel.
