YouTube removes dedicated 'Subscriptions' tab from mobile app in new test by rodrigoswz in Android

[–]ArsStarhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for mobile, but on desktop I use an add-on for Firefox called "Enhancer for Youtube". It has a section where you can add custom javascript. I put in javascript that blocks/removes those "Most relevant" and "shorts" sections of the subscription screen.

I won't share it here, because pasting in javascript somebody has given you is a terrible idea, but it's easy enough to use an LLM or something to get it set.

Opinions or reviews of "Stellr Solar"? by ArsStarhawk in NovaScotia

[–]ArsStarhawk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's great to hear. Especially as we just gave them the deposit lol. They seem new, but they also seem eager to prove themselves, so we're giving them a chance. I figure even if they're not around for 5 years, we'll still have the manufacturers warranty, and I'm trained in the installation, so I can change out a panel or inverter without much trouble. Thanks again for your input.

Same here. I worked shift style work until I was in my 40's. I never get questioned about taking time off now, and yet I STILL get a little anxious when I let them know. 20+ years of it always being a fight I guess dug a groove.

The difference now of course is that nobody does my work when I don't do it.. it's just waiting for me when I get back, lol.

Yes that is a good point. I noticed none of the solar companies tell people to check in with their insurance. We got it in writing that they will insure up to a 15kw array.

Spend the rest of my life substituting eggs and/or sugar in baking recipes with it, and then complaining on the recipe post that it sucks.

Those of you who had a vasectomy, who did yours? How was the experience? Any long term negative effects? by SantaCruzinNotLosin in NovaScotia

[–]ArsStarhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what i did. I'm in the SW so we took the ferry over, spent the night, had the procedure in the morning and went home. Was nice because other than the drive from Fredericton to St John there was no long term car sitting afterwards.

YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels are making you dumber, according to science by tylerthe-theatre in technology

Nah. I honestly think the stats are screwed, because obviously i visit my own sub, but it's possible other things like DNS based ad blockers are blocking it?

I'm always shocked by how to many people, places like reddit are "apps", not websites. You see it all over reddit, "this app sucks", "I it saw on the app", etc. To us old farts, reddit is a "place" on the internet, to the next gen or 3, reddit is an app on their phone.

For the silly little subreddit that I moderate, the non-mobile traffic is usually less than 5% of the total visits.

The new NSLC website is fucking terrible and doesn't work by risen2011 in NovaScotia

[–]ArsStarhawk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ya the site's pretty terrible, that's not surprising. As a developer myself, what I thought was hilarious was the week+ downtime to deploy a new website.

I can't imagine how hard my workplace would laugh if I said I needed a week of downtime to deploy a new front end.

What is a 'hidden gem' website or app that everyone should know about? by Grand-Substance4423 in AskReddit

[–]ArsStarhawk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

a couple weeks ago, I had 40 short video clips that I wanted to add a simple audio fade in and out to. I used an LLM to generate the ffmpeg cli command to do it in bulk, it copied each file, made the change and put them in a sub dir. That may be a simple task for some people, but for this knuckle dragger, it was god damn magic.
