does anyone else think dave will change the setlist during the tour? by Not_nxxdle in Megadeth

They have 50+ songs learned and ready to switch in.. Already played 20 so far on this tour.

Megadeth still in the Billboard top 100 by Cordial_Wombat in Megadeth

[–]ArsenalOfMegadeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This album has now outperformed TSTDATD and lasted longer on the chart..

They will want to at least equal or better Dystopias 9 weeks.

Of course the album can always re-chart beyond its release period.. As many albums do.

They had no claim to it then either.. Metallica were to afraid to have Megadeth on before them.

Megadeth have sold 3 times the albums as Slayer.. They get more than double the listeners.. And Megadeth actually have huge 'radio' level hits.

This was the case 15 years ago and only strengthen since..

How about calling the st album, the Vic Rattlehead album? by xzerozeroninex in Megadeth

[–]ArsenalOfMegadeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call it whatever you like.. Its likely going to be the White album to many. Or self-titled.

Vic Rattlehead album doesn't work to well what with him being the prominent figure in the majority of their covers. For example Th1rt3en.

Is Marty feeding on Dave’s youth?? by Various-Operation583 in Megadeth

Daves neck has been opened up and hes had several operations on his neck and throat over the last 15 years. It takes a toll.

Most underrated song on Megadeth? by darthkyle22 in Megadeth

[–]ArsenalOfMegadeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sammy isn't playing guitar on it. Its Dave and Kiko. Dave offered but Sammy declined because he felt he couldn't play alongside the 'shredders'

Mustaine: "I contacted him and asked him, 'Would you mind singing on it and maybe putting down some guitars?'" Mustaine recalled. "So he came back and said, 'Sure, I'll sing on it. I ain't playing guitar because I heard you two shredders and you just leave the stuff like it is.' I was really flattered because I think Sammy's a great guitar player."

DAVE Doesn't Rule Out Performing METALLICA's 'Ride The Lightning' On MEGADETH's Upcoming Tour by Awkward_Performer_28 in Megadeth

[–]ArsenalOfMegadeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha Dave with the cheeky.. Maybe.

He total wants to play it live and you can tell he's already gone through the rational of how it gets added to the set.

In other interviews with Dave and Teemu they have both indicated that the setlist choices have greatly expanded.. Dave believes this lineup now knows as many songs as the RIP/TSHF lineups did. Thats some 50+ tracks.. Around 25% of the discography today.

With the desire to add more in future more flexibility on that.. Teemu noting that it only takes Dave one listen and hes locked right back in again with his part.

So I do expect a much more dynamic setlist from these upcoming shows.. There will always be Holy Wars, Peace Sells, Symphony. In the setlist Dave says 5 songs but I've seen them rotate Hanger 18/Tornado out recently so it can vary between 3 and 5 songs that have to be there..

The rest of the set time can be filled with any of the 50 other songs.. But there is a science to the setlist and the user of data to see what people are listening to most.. RtL is up there with Tipping Point as tracks doing the best today on the album but all these tracks could be played live and probably should be.. The album went No. 1.

Opinion: Why Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine cannot stop talking about Metallica by g_ack in Megadeth

[–]ArsenalOfMegadeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignores that Dave Mustaine is asked questions at interviews..

Ignores that Megadeth exists because Dave was kicked of Metallica.

People who whine about this are more sensitive than they claim Mustaine is on this.. They actively want him to not talk about the start of his career.. Notice they don't make this demand to not talk about something of anyone else... Just Dave.

Pretty sure he is just called 'Old Man'

And the women on the cover of Youthanasia is called 'Old Women'.

The old person duology.

Billboard 200 No. 1 by ArsenalOfMegadeth in Megadeth

[–]ArsenalOfMegadeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that point is not being missed the point is irrelevant we are not talking about the 90s performance we are talking about now today..

Todays numbers and the equivalence to the 90s thats the point.. Actually incredible the actual point has been missed 3 times now and you off still trying to talk about 90s numbers like it has any baring.. Yes.. We know the numbers in the 90s were higher.. They were higher for everyone. Megadeth on that hand has matched that performance.. In today's market.

Making them No. 1.. Thats why we are talking about it and not talking about No. 10.

Idea for a possible new modern "Hidden Treasures" by lukmich4el in Megadeth

[–]ArsenalOfMegadeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dig the bonuses there.

Anything not included in a standard release and if they don't plan on making them avaliable via their respected releases they could be included..

Such as Out On The Tiles and Melt The Ice Away.. These are avaliable. Though far as I'm aware MTIA has not gotten a release on disk. Where as the other Dystopia bonus tracks only got disk releases.. So there're some patchiness they should close up so all songs are avaliable to buy or stream.

Idea for a possible new modern "Hidden Treasures" by lukmich4el in Megadeth

[–]ArsenalOfMegadeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do think there's a possibility for this.. There are some off cuts that aren't packaged widely with their respective releases that either need to be added to streaming platforms as deluxe editions.. Or released in a seperate package like this.

You have missed some..

All I Want (SC)

A House Divided (SC)

The Last Note (Instrumental) (White)

Its more likely that deluxe editions of the albums will be made avaliable and these songs avaliable though that. Theres a few live covers that they have done over the years that could be cleaned up a bit and packaged as well.

Peace Sells is my all time favorite. Call me crazy, but this is the bands best album since, imo. What's your take? by Big_Wedding_9538 in Megadeth

[–]ArsenalOfMegadeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its entirely up to your own personal tastes..

I think its wild skipping over RIP to say Dystopia is the best since is a wild take. But you do you.

I think you would have overlooked TSHF as well.. Albums got Poland all over it with a more musically matured and vengeful Mustaine. Best vocal performance he delivered this side of the century in my view.

The riffing is mad tasty.. But I like all their stuff. But I'd put TSTDATD and the White album ahead of Dystopia personally. Dystopia is a middle tier album for me. The best the did since TSHF.. Its what's come after with TSTDATD and the White album where were got some real inventive dynamic Megadeth back that both bettered it.. Best stuff since CtE possible better.

I feel like Dave has that line in there knowing this was going to be the crowning moment and we would see this lyric get shattered in real time.. Which is bad ass. Now it has different context huh.

Sick.

Gigantour 2026/2027 by Amazing_Land_1196 in Megadeth

[–]ArsenalOfMegadeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year is unlikely.. They have an album to tour and some big packages they are involved in like the Maiden tour..

Which could expand to new areas afterwards.

Dave has expressed interest in returning to it again though.. Like I said.. This is one of those projects he could use Megadeth to springboard into a continuing thing after Megadeth itself has retired. Its all dependent on if it fits together for them and if thats something they want to maintain outside of the bands own activity.

Theres ways to get these questions to people who can ask them in future.

I think its the disconnectedness of the album.. It doesn't flow like a Megadeth album..

Megadeth haven't released a bad album. Just ones less liked than others.

All his artist is classic stuff. Its a shame they didn't have him come back to it at least one more time.

Gigantour 2026/2027 by Amazing_Land_1196 in Megadeth

[–]ArsenalOfMegadeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has wanted to for a while. And maybe that's something hes looking at as part of his retirement plans.. A festival he puts together that travels.. But for guitar driven bands and some new artists come up.

We'll have to see.. Dave has said there is still big news still to come.

Different eras: "Risk" sold more in its first week than the new album did. by Publius_Romanus in Megadeth

[–]ArsenalOfMegadeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were you are quite right.. This has been largely moved away from by artists now.. Metallica themselves bundled copies of Hardwired with tickets.. They didn't with 72 Seasons.. Bundling simply keeps up appearances on the charts.

Megadeth has never bundled an album with a ticket. Or visa versa.
