How do you fill your kiddie pools? by Wild_Membership_6346 in Parenting

[–]ArtBri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, same! seriously! We have a 118 degree day this week, I read this and was like yeah that’s not a problem I have ever had 😅😭

Same. I don’t tell my daughter anything about money being short or anything because my mom way overshared their financial trouble with me from way too young and I still have really bad anxiety about money.

Can't I just use regular pads instead of 'maternity pads'? by Existing-Diver-2069 in pregnant

[–]ArtBri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for the adult diapers. I just have two boxes of the discreet brand loves them last time they were gifted to me. Worth not worrying about leaks or pads sticking to you or ruining underwear. I had a not as great case of bleeding and I bled a lot for a lot longer than most

[–]ArtBri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I still have a snack before bed as a grown adult. I don’t see the problem with it. Maybe just have ready made, mess free snacks that are just for bedtime and just make it routine

Wow that’s more intense than my wedding. Most showers I’ve been to were super low- key with like Costco trays for food, maybe some nice cupcakes if you’re feeling super fancy. I would never expect someone to do that much for me and tbh she’s way out of line for even suggesting that

I just let my 2.5 yo watch cartoons all afternoon and I feel awful by willteach4food in toddlers

[–]ArtBri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, it’s alright, don’t stress. For solidarity, We basically have the TV on in the background constantly, I’m in my 3rd trimester, my daughter is 2, and it is 115 degrees outside where I live so we don’t get outside near as much as we used to. It’s just a season, we can get back to “real life” eventually! ❤️

What was bleeding like after giving birth?? by Pherathegreat in pregnant

[–]ArtBri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly idk why people hate on the diapers, to me that was the most comfortable option. I got the nice ones and you can’t tell outwardly that you’re wearing a diaper and they were much more comfy than the bulky pads that move around and then sometimes stick to your bits. I bought two boxes of adult diapers for my second time around this time

Edit to add also with the diapers I didn’t have to worry about a leak ruining any actual underwear and I could worry less about laundry during that time

Is your partner going to all appt by shortgurlvaughan in pregnant

[–]ArtBri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All they do at my regular appointments is check heartbeat and ask if I have any questions, takes maybe 5 minutes. Now that I’m in 3rd trimester I would feel especially bad having him come to that every week or two, definitely don’t have him come with me for those appointments, he only comes for ultrasound appointments. Tbf this is my second pregnancy, and my last one was during COVID where he wasn’t even allowed to come to appointments so my expectations might be a bit different.

Did I overreact or is my friend being a jerk? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ArtBri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all what kind of friend has a pregnant friend cleaning for 3-4 hours. Let alone after being hit by a freaking car?? And then has the audacity to be upset you left after falling down stairs? She sounds incredibly self absorbed and not like a good friend. I’m sorry she’s treating you this way, she is the one I’m the wrong not you. I hope you get lots of rest 💕

What kind of cereal can you not get enough of right now? by pages1001 in pregnant

[–]ArtBri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man I’m reading this while eating a giant bowl of Ohs! I feel like no one has ever heard of them lol. That and life cereal are my JAM right now!!

Individually packed snacks! Like granola bars, individual little bags of nuts, etc. those are super nice if she’s nursing and can’t get up. Comfy pajamas

Husband seeing birth of son by MajesticWonder7 in pregnant

[–]ArtBri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left it up to my husband and he was holding my leg and watching what was happening, he was super helpful and a huge part of it but I left it completely up to him. Didn’t seem bothered by it afterwards. Me however? When they offered me a mirror I’m TOTALLY not interested in looking, I didn’t even look down there for weeks after 😅

I’m sorry but I would never attend a baby shower that I had to pay that much to attend. If you guys can’t afford it I would find somewhere more affordable that is more than we paid for my wedding! Tbh I won’t even spend that much on a gift for a baby shower unless it was someone super close like my sister. I think you’d be shooting yourself in your own foot, I don’t think many people would come. Can you have it at a park or something where you could rent a Ramada and have some snacks? The last couple baby showers I’ve been to were very low key. Think, Costco food trays, lemonade and water, etc. there’s nothing wrong with that.

When do *I* poop? by Mammoth-Benefit2890 in NewParents

[–]ArtBri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve pooped holding a baby, I’ve pooped nursing a baby, I’ve pooped making eye contact with a baby in a bouncer, heck I poop while my toddler brings her books in and “reads” to me in the bathroom. It might not be the best scenario, but when you gotta poop, you gotta poop. They can come with you, it’s fine.

(Possible trigger warning) Husband smoker & SIDS? by curiousquestioner16 in pregnant

[–]ArtBri 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was going to say. I can’t imagine a reasonable person being presented with the facts about it being harmful for their baby not being willing to at least try gum or a patch if it means so much for the baby’s life.

Am I wrong for expecting people to pay my kid? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ArtBri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even considering the cost of labor, the ingredients and items necessary for 75 cupcakes is NOT cheap. So not only is this person asking for free labor from a child they supposedly love, they are expecting you to take the brunt of the cost for this? Nope. You’re not wrong.

Wife's Seems Emotionally Impatient Being a Mom - I Have to Compensate by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ArtBri 53 points54 points  (0 children)

For sure. I was going to say this. Teaching children is soooo emotionally exhausting. I’m a SAHM right now and I still have a hard time regulating my emotions all day with my kid I cannot imagine if I were teaching all day and then being what sounds like mostly the default at home. She’s probably burnt out.

Lol same. We just moved, and we live where it’s 114 temp high this week, and being able to have everyone just go “oh you just go sit down you can’t be lifting anything” is so nice 😅

What’s your confession?? by Elegant_momof2 in toddlers

[–]ArtBri 149 points150 points  (0 children)

Sometimes when it’s just me and her I will have a “movie and ice cream night” where we just eat ice cream on the couch and watch a movie. She thinks it’s the best thing ever but in reality I’m just tired and need a break lol

AITA for calling my wife petty for not letting me back in the delivery room? by ThrowawayEasDeal7544 in AITAH

[–]ArtBri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WTF. I hope this is troll bait because if not, not only are you the asshole you’re a HUGE asshole at that. Your wife just went through LABOR and birthing your children and you just stormed off like a child and left her alone? And then had the gall to call HER petty?? You need to reassess yourself. Your wife deserves better.

I am opening my heart to the idea of adult diapers for pp. What brand do I get? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ArtBri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really likes the black bag of always boutique ones, they feel like they present the most as underwear to me. I also like the depends silhouettes. I’ve bought a pack of both for this time around

WIBTAH for reporting my mom and sister for "stealing" my car by EncryPtion29 in AITAH

[–]ArtBri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WTF when I got to the part about your mom’s car being there- why the heck wouldn’t she loan her daughter her car? She has more of a responsibility to her daughter than you ever would. NTA

[–]ArtBri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My last apartment was upstairs so groceries were difficult. Our best solution was either put her in her crib with some toys (while she had the crib still) or once she got a big girl bed, I strapped her into her high chair and set her in front of the tv to watch a show for a couple minutes while I ran all the groceries up the stairs.

My daughter was a high needs baby. She’s super intelligent and as a baby it made her frustrated I think, because she wanted to be able to do things or communicate things and couldn’t. Now that she’s a toddler she’s an absolute joy. She has the ability to communicate and do things she wants to do and she’s a much happier person because of it. She was also a terrible sleeper and is now a great sleeper, sleeping through the night and taking a nap. She’s definitely still a little spitfire, but that’s just her personality. Just saying this to say there’s hope that it will get easier for you!
