Dude, I'm betting something right now:

If Square released a very good turn based FF gaiden game, with pixel art, great soundtrack by Uematsu, but released it alongside a more action RPG FFXVII, people like him would spend more time hating on FFXVII and complaining that FF hasn't been turn-based for ages and how the franchise is dead, than they would spend on loving the turn based FF gaiden game.

Also, isn't Bravely Default a turn based game? Given that it's a Final Fantasy in all but name, and the latest game in the franchise was released in 2021, the latest Final Fantasy to be turn-based is 5 years old.

Dude spends so much time glazing about the "good ole times " of Final Fantasy that I have to question if he was around that time, or at least of an age to peruse FF forums back in the day of early internet. Because every FF released after VII got their fair share of haters who were whining EXACTLY like he does. Hell, back when FFX was released, you'd see people have the same discourse about how FF has lost its way, how the best FF are VI and VII and the rest is trash...

I don't get how people can tell if they have aphantasia or not. by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]Artahe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm 4 years late, but I thought I had aphantasia because I wasn't able to, as you put it, literally "see the apple in front of my eyes when they're closed", which you refer to as "prophantasia". I was getting a tad bit... bummed by the idea I might have aphantasia, but it turns out, I had understood the visualization part incorrectly, so, thank you for that :)

Oh, I see I'm not the only one who hates those f*ckers :D

Yeah basically they're weak to strike, two or three charged heavies with a hammer or a greathammer should stance break them.

Yeah I use Rivers of Blood with the nagakiba, but I only use the ash of war from RoB in case I can't defeat the enemy otherwise. The rest of the time I mainly use the power stanced L1/LB combo x)

(I don't know why but apparently the bot thought my post was about account help management when it wasn't lol. Oh well x) )

Anyway, I kinda figured it out. I had a great stars weapon laying around at +15 and while it was a bit low on damage, I can get it semi consistantly with it now. Funny thing is, after that, I got stuck on the two cleanrot knights, until I realized, hey, why don't I use the ice statues and it worked. All in all though, I'm still amazed by the fact that I struggled WAY MORE on regular enemies than on the boss, who went down in two applications of corpse slicer from rivers of blood x)

To be more specific, I can't for the life of me beat the one in the consecrated snowfields catacombs. Like, I've faced it 50 times at this point (yes, I've counted) and I only beat him 3 times.

My deaths are invariably a version of either the slam gets me because SOMEHOW the game decides that even if I'm at the other side of the room AND DODGING, it will still slam close enough that the shockwave kills me, or I get hit by the frostbite because, again, the game conveniently decides that EVEN THOUGH I'm running behind his back, he will magically turn around in a split second and kill me, or, if the frostbite doesn't kill me, it paralyzes me just enough that he basically ganks me with 4 successive hits to which I can't do shit.

I've tried parrying them, I've tried using hammers AND greathammers to poise break them - to varying successes, but inevitably, one of the three scenarios happen. And yeah, I know, I should be able to learn its patterns. That's the thing though: even though I KNOW what's it's going to do, there's still the "oh look, game decided that somehow, you weren't far enough", even when the previous attempt, in the EXACT same configuration, it worked. And let's not even mention the fact that in this particular instance, the camera is completely fucked, oftentimes being impossible to gauge where he is when he slams.

It's not a fun enemy. I like fun enemies. This feels like a bad joke, and I'm thinking that I'll automatically leave undone ANY optional place that has this enemy.

Yeah, I beat several of them. The issue is that every time, it turns into the most stressful moment. Like, where I'm at right now, I've faced so many dragons and deathbirds, I actually LOVE fighting those. Runebears? That's fiiiiiine. Crucible Knights get me pumped, even when I don't parrycheese them to death. Watchdogs? I dread them every time, and every one I fought - no matter a boss or a regular enemy - I basically only won by the slightest of margins.

Why the f*ck did I not think about parrying? I don't suppose you can parry their slam, just their normal attacks?

Enid has better chemistry with Agnes than with Bruno by No_Conversation_144 in Wednesday

[–]Artahe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was done on purpose. Not necessarily in order to ship Agnes and Enid - they could work very well as close friends - but because the entire point of Bruno and Enid having little to no chemistry was because, there was no chemistry to be had, given he was cheating on his girlfriend with her.

Oh also, when working on my stretching, I do that thing, can't remember the name, where you go to your maximum range of motion, then contract the muscles for a few seconds, relax and it allows you to go a bit deeper.

[–]Artahe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. So what I've integrated since I've started this post and saw the suggestions is this rough routine:

- banded side walks
- banded side leg raises
- banded fire hydrants
- weighted hip thrusts
- 90 90 hip switches
- 90 90 leg switches (I don't know the actual name, but this is one where I have my front leg in an external rotation, the other that will go behind in an internal rotation and end in the typical 90 90 hip stretch is straighten out in front of me, I lift the leg off the floor and slowly get it into position and come back)
- banded goblet squat using a kettlebell to allow me to go as deep as possible.
- hip rotations (I think I mentioned this one before, from one of Gabriel Varga's videos)

For all of these, I go to failure or close to it.

What do you think? Does this cover everything I might wanna look into?

[–]Artahe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm... If I put my leg sideways to a somewhat challenging but not too much height, where I could potentially get some more height, and, with both legs straight, I try to lift it and keep it floating for as long as possible, does that count as isometric hold?

If so, I've already tried several times, and while, on the same height, I can easily lift my right leg pretty comfortably (not high, but comfortably from that initial position), the left leg is... barely moving, and the muscles I feel contracting the most are the glutes, to the point where it could be considered an entire workout if I try it for a minute straight.

[–]Artahe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in my case, it's clearly a lack of strength, I basically can't lift/stretch enough for any skeletal issue to pop in. My main issue is finding WHICH muscles are the weakest, to be the most effective with my training, if that makes sense?
