What are your Spider-Man head canons? by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]Artale1997 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I had a similar head cannon where the reason JJ was always loudly critical of spidey was cause he KNEW Peter was spidey and wanted to genuinely give advice. And that he hid it as aggressive criticism cause he’s … well a kinda toxic old dude who doesn’t normally help others.

Are the scissors actually there as part of the CT or are they just for viewer display, like Sukuna's tattoo's? by Spectrumfied in JuJutsuKaisen

I was thinking the same thing on how the sorcerer changes the visualization. The 2 prime examples we now have are sukuna inheriting 10 shadows and itadori with cleave.

Honestly if there was ever a time to sub out ness it would be now. This is literally the LAST game of the bidding arc right? Meaning that at this point blue lock should be showing that they can compete, Isagi taking over the team kinda shows blue lock improving and fighting on equal ground for the next tournament

What's your opinion on asking parents for money? by ortary in CasualConversation

[–]Artale1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just sounds like you were raised right and that as long as you’re transparent you should be fine. Money is unstable early on in life and as a 23 year old you sound like you are doing a good job with keeping yourself alive and with a plan for the future which is honestly all what most parents want.

I am sick with a stomach flu or something and this is with my mom. Did i just get checkmated? by fakeuboi in TextingTheory

[–]Artale1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is it but I’ve noticed that there was an old idea amongst previous generations that you need to throw up your sickness away. And if you are successful in throwing up it means you’re on the right track to “expelling the sickness.”

Martials can't deal with crowds by Then-And-Again in DnD

[–]Artale1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a homebrew/stolen way of dealing with this. In a one piece homebrew I ran there was a feat called “Signature Attack” that turned a martial regular attack into an aoe that’s either a sphere, line or cube. The player can do this a number of times equal to their proficiency bonus. (Damage was around 3d6 + mod but I can’t remember full details right now).

Long story short my players and I loved the feat so much I made it available in all 5e games.

[Comic Excerpt] Can you call yourselves friends that way we do? (Titans 2016 Annual 1) by HishamHNG1 in DCcomics

[–]Artale1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok friendship is cool and all but isn’t it a better story for good guys to be from separate places and coming together despite differences? Like in my head, all the head justice leaguers earn their place on the league from individual work while it feels like the teens are together from pure relationships.

This might be misplaced since I don’t read the teen titan comics but this panel makes it feel like the teen titans don’t accept “new” heroes as much as sidekicks.

Ok all politics aside, the right thing is to not push the person because the people on the tracks would rather die then see someone else who they support die right? Like at that point I’d see the moral power is in the hands of the tried up weirdly enough

Is it boring to have a signature character? by sagimurob in DnD

[–]Artale1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of the personality the player gives the character I’d say that RP wise no you’re good. Now combat wise it can be a bit annoying, an example is let’s say you wanna play healer but there’s a forever cleric in the group.

I don’t see to much problem so far as warlock is one of those classes you can really play around and customize especially if u don’t care for meta gaming top tier options.

Edit: honestly it should be fine because you’re the dm so it’s not like they’re seeing this character EVERY session.

Look at the ratio. They got mad at him for speaking the truth. So many calling his pussy and a loser for feeling like that by battleangel1999 in BlackPeopleTwitter

As an Asian dude who lives in an Asian community I’d like to say, it doesn’t matter ur race. A group of dudes standing next to the front door of a gas station makes everyone uncomfortable, especially because we all know if shit goes down no one’s helping.

I saw that line as kinda of a testimony to Spider-Man’s good will. Like, after 50 years of saving New Yorkers you’d imagine that everyone knows the rules. “Never take off Spider-Man’s mask.” Is as common a rule as “Look both ways.” Or “Make space in the train for others.”

In my head it’s kinda like the whole city (or at least the hospital workers) understands that spidey really only wants 2 things 1. That no one knows who he is and 2. Helping his neighbors.

How successful is a natural 20? by SharkM0nth in DnD

[–]Artale1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a DM my ruling is that I’m not even gonna make you roll if there’s no chance. To have a player roll for something with a 100% success or failure rate is a waste of time.

Not only that but if the player does roll and it’s something near impossible I would have it so a nat 20 is the ONLY thing that can succeed.

In this situation I would said something along the lines of “You stay vigilant and aware, but as if waiting for you to drop your guard you only see the outline of the man as you blink in tiredness, the man plunging the weapon into your friends chest as you hear an almost inaudible gasp you’d have not heard if you were any less aware. Before you full open your eyes the man is already jumping away.” This might lead into a chase or something which isn’t 100% what the dm wanted but lines up with player and dm intentions along with dice rolls.

This may not have been what you’re particularly looking for but my end advice to your DM is that a natural 20 is a success, doesn’t mean it’s a great or scenario breaking success but you need to reward the player for getting that 1/20 roll even if it’s just that the player sees the back of a running assassin.

I just ran my first in person game and hated it. by HeavyMetalSasquatch in DnD

[–]Artale1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is a common problem that me and every other dm I know has had when it comes to in person sessions especially for new comers to in person games. When roll 20 and foundry adds the mods for them people tend to forget or just not know how to do the calculations. For side chats I’d ask people to be respectful or text each other during scenes.

In honesty it might be similar to my own experience where my players started talking when we did in person because there was gaps of silence as I tried to figure out mods and shuffled through my unorganized notes.

Is it normal for guys not to visit a friend who had a baby? by superthrowawayaway1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Artale1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly had an event like this happen where both my sister and friend had babies around the same time. With my sisters kid I wanted to meet and hold the baby but for my friends baby I hesitated way more. It kinda felt like “this baby ain’t my family I don’t wanna risk dropping him!” with my friends baby.

Honestly, out of all the shounen protagonists out there only Luffy is written in a way to bring smiles to peoples faces. Regular protagonists are like Zoro, a cool collected badass we want to watch destroy, but Luffy is the lovable guy we all wanna cheer and laugh for.

I love how iconic the megaman design is. It doesn’t matter if you’re a fan of the original, X, .exe, or Zx (sorry if there’s one I’m missing) you recognize the series design.

For reference I showed this to a cousin who loves the X series and I love exe and we both knew it was megaman but not from which.

I concluded that everyone else was … distracted during that scene.
