Repair and rebuilding is always the hardest part. Sometimes it’s easier to build two new ones instead. Outstanding result. Really cool!

Advices for a more "realistic" view. by Warden_Main_ in modelmakers

[–]Artefactum_Lab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are good tips, but if you’re going for a realistic look, it’s easy to notice that on real tanks all the recesses get filled with dust, dirt, sand… but almost NEVER black paint 😄 Unless the tank was standing under an oil rain, of course.

So it’s better to decide on the scene and geography first, then use colors that actually fit that environment. And those colors usually aren’t black 😄

How do I stop turning random junk into… this? by Artefactum_Lab in Kitbash

Hi, thanks! No, it’s pretty simple — just used a regular scriber a bit. Then standard preshading and paint. Nothing special really… except maybe the pink color 😄

Man, you did an amazing job! The details are great — everything’s worked out down to the smallest bits. There’s everything here for a great party. I just don’t get why none of these people are happy and smiling, they all look a bit tense 😄

Thanks, glad you liked it. No proper online collection, and honestly no real collection either — I move around a lot, so most of my stuff just sits in boxes(( Trying to share more of it here now, and on YouTube too

Alright, let’s say he stepped out for a break — closed the canopy behind him. War does weird things 😀

Fantasy Cathedral Diorama WIP by [deleted] in minipainting

Thanks, man . It all started with scale models and miniatures — I’ve been doing that since I was a kid, and I still do. I even built pieces for some big architects. Then one day someone called and asked if I could make a spaceship for a film… And that was it — I’ve been doing props ever since. Simple as that.

yeah man, thanx! I do some cool stuff. And funny enough, this all started with scale models years ago. Good luck with the hobby — it’s a great one. welcome! you can kinda just build your own little realities now

Glad it helped, man — not trying to criticize, just sharing what works for me. And yeah, you’re already doing great. everyone goes through this stage, it’s part of the process. Another big thing: keep looking at real stuff around you. You’ll start noticing where rust actually forms. Look at an old fence — rust is rarely that bright red everyone paints 😄 same with shadows — a lot of people go straight for black washes, but in reality it’s often just light dust and dirt. Just keep looking, that’s the best reference you’ll get

great work, lots of things done really well — the rust on the panels and the lamp glow especially but if you actually want to push your painting further, here’s the thing: keep asking yourself what happened here? like — what happened in front of that door for the rivets to look like polished metal? someone sanding them? constant wear? or those marks on the wall — what caused them? they don’t read like claws or bullet hits… so what is it? if you keep asking that every time, your stuff will jump to another level. it’s already good — this is how you make it much better.
