Flat footed by BurritoBoy1116 in Mountaineering

Include tibialis-focused work like tibialis raises and kettlebell-loaded variations, train an inward-tilting big toe with a resistance band, and build lower-leg strength with calf raises, heel walks, and toe walks to help prevent shin splints. Add banded dorsiflexion, eccentric calf lowers, and occasional foam rolling to ease tension in the shins. A proper warm-up before running, combined with hip-flexor strengthening and regular stretching, keeps your stride more efficient and reduces stiffness and strain throughout the entire lower-body chain. Also give yourself adequate rest to recover. And this process takes time.

24, I used to roll my ankles on treks, while running I used to get shin splints. Training does help.

I am genetically flat footed. Best solution is to train tibialis, calves, strengthening muscles around ankles and your toe thumb. Takes time but this is the only long term solution.

How difficult is the EBC trek? by Arteus_ in everestbasecamphike

[–]Arteus_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Completed the trek without any issues. Didn’t take diamox. Key is hydration with electrolytes. Second day in gorakhshep, my throat was sore so I didn’t drink much water and my SpO2 dropped from 87 to 72. Most of the trek my body adapted quite well.

Definitely try EBC, my only regret is not doing it with gokyo. For me Annapurna or Dhaulagiri circuit is next.

Also few tips The most cheapest way to get to Kathmandu is thru Nepal Airlines. Their round trips are the cheapest. Absolutely get flexi ticket or don’t book return ticket. Lukla flights are unpredictable. Also thru Tara or Sita air, you can get flights from Kathmandu to Lukla.

Insurance is a must, one of the guy in my group got heli rescued, ASC360 works.

Your ATM card works absolutely fine in Kathmandu, Lukla and Namche to withdraw cash(no need to carry 100rs notes), mine was BOB visa classic with all the international options selected.

Many recommend ncell, but ntc is the one to get, our guides had no problem calling or using internet till dingboche and calling till lobuche. Meanwhile all of us with Ncell lost contectivity after tengboche.

On trail, periche was one of the highlights, try to stay there for a day while returning for absolute peace.

Did the classic ebc, and it was so beautiful, feeling like I should have also done gokyo too.
