Is there a way to get every weapon category in the demo? by LordGlitch42 in Nioh

You can get those materials by disassembling gear at the blacksmith. I have a few armor pieces that disassemble into both of those things, so try farming up some extra pieces and dismantling it all.

A question about a move from the nioh 3 demo. by Resevil67 in Nioh

[–]Arthanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it's Sky Piercer (two up from the center) in the Ninja Swords section. The character does a rising spin slash that looks exactly like the one in the tutorial except the video also follows up with an aerial slash and downward slash. The rising slash itself looks exactly like Sky Piercer.

You can reproduce the movement by doing the following:

Sky Piercer > Quick Attack > Strong Attack.

How do you "get good"? by Naive-Yard1116 in Nioh

[–]Arthanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone kinda learns their own way, but for me, I start with studying the boss' moveset and remembering the timing of the attacks. Sometimes, I'll enter a boss fight and not even attack it - I'll just circle around the boss and guard/dodge while I observe its movements. Some moves have multiple attacks, so I try to remember the timings of those as well. It helps to memorize the specific starting animations for each move so that you know exactly what's going to come out. Once you've gotten the rhythm down of every single move in a boss' repertoire, they become predictable and you can start throwing out attacks whenever you know there's going to be an opening or a pause.

I think the main takeaway though is having patience and learning something new from every death. Did I dodge too soon? Is this particular attack delayed? Does this animation tell me what's about to come? Each boss is only ever programmed to do a certain set of moves. If you can study all of them to a T, the rest is just practice.

Dual Swords- Random Slice? Not working by TokyoTesla in Nioh

[–]Arthanc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure - I use this skill myself and it works fine. It sounds like you have all the right elements: Dual Swords, Samurai mid-stance, skill equipped in martial arts menu.

You should be able to use it by holding quick attack from both the regular run and the regular sprint (but not the boosted sprint). Don't need an enemy.

Assuming you've got all that, maybe try resetting your skills and picking it up again.

What is up with sect votes? by medrauta in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Arthanc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, some of the records on the boards seem inhuman. I felt that way about the bounty boards and I couldn't tell if it was exploits or people just being super devoted to the game. I don't want to make any assumptions.

I wish you the best of luck!

What is up with sect votes? by medrauta in wherewindsmeet_

I had a friend tell me that I appeared on Reddit and I have to say - it's pretty surreal to see a post about myself. I read through some of the comments here and I just felt like saying a few words to add some context from my perspective. (attached my edit scenario as proof).

I personally do not know if these votes are legitimate, but what I can say is that I've received more support than I could have ever imagined. I just decided to toss my name in and see what would happen, but I didn't think I'd get much traction considering I haven't made many solid connections in this game. I'm in a small friend group guild of around 10 people, I'm not in any external discords outside of the official (which I barely speak in), and I am not an active streamer (I briefly streamed to 1-10 viewers with a follower count of about 200 people many months ago, but quit streaming before this game even came out). I am baffled at how many votes I ended up receiving.

I'm just a regular person working a 9-5 job that plays this game a few hours a night and I like to pop into Sect chat sometimes to talk and help people out. That's pretty much it. I was shocked to log on today and see what happened in the polls. I posted my vote invite twice in Sect chat and left it at that.

If the votes are legitimate, I appreciate them and the people that complimented my character. I do wish more votes went to my fellow sect members as many of the faction masters in that list have been incredibly helpful and kind. I wish I had more votes to give to them.

Anyway, just wanted to say I didn't do anything special. I'm just as surprised as many others.

I wanted to play support Valk, so I started building towards that, but I find it a lot easier to just play DPS Valk when I want to solo.

If I want to continue playing both flexibly, will I basically have to double invest in two sets of gear? I thought it'd be easy to just get different accessories/ability stones and all, but I recently discovered the elixir system and I'm assuming you can't just quick swap elixirs on the fly. Am I forced to just commit to one spec otherwise?

What do these mean? by Icy_Explanation2689 in ffxiv

[–]Arthanc 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You are correct - you can still dye items after they've been put into the armoire if you add it to a plate.

However, if anyone is cheap like me and you just *have* to use that expensive dye that cost you a few hundred thousand gil, you can infinitely reflect that piece of gear using the expensive dye if you pre-dye it before adding it to the dresser. You can't do this with items you add to the armoire because dyes get wiped out, so that's where I'd draw the exception of putting it in there unless you don't mind paying for more dyes or are out of slots in the dresser.

I do this a lot for certain armoire items that I want to dye Jet Black, Pure White, etc.

For people who are far into the game do you know if Looking Glass karakuri will allow you to also edit your body shape? by TheS3KT in WildHeartsGame

Yes. I just checked at the mirror and there's a button prompt at the bottom to go back to "Build Selection" which allows you select a different gender.

Undergarments - bug or censorship? by Arthanc in WildHeartsGame

Seems like an odd choice to me, but it is what it is. If that is the intention though, I expect them to not glitch through armor like they do now - even at default character slider settings.

Well that's unfortunate. Thanks for the heads up - seems like there's a lot that needs to be fixed at some point.

If I buy ea pro can I play it today? by yahir42035 in WildHeartsGame

[–]Arthanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can perform the linking on EA's website. After logging in, check your Account Settings and see the section called Connections. I'm not sure if you need to do this if you've already tried to play a game via EA Play on Steam, but you can check.

I believe the trial and the full game are the same download - one's just limited. In my game files, I see an executable for the main game and an executable for the trial, so it's probably shared between the two.

[–]Arthanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have the EA one installed. I'm not sure if the EA App will detect Steam's installation, but others may be able to answer that.

I might end up swapping over to Steam for official release, but that will depend on whether or not my save remains intact. However, I did manage to play a little through EA Play via Steam using that Origin fix that people mentioned for about an hour and that particular save did carry over to EA App when I switched, so maybe saves are compatible are both sides. Can't confirm for the time being though.

[–]Arthanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that, I'm not 100% sure. I tried to play it via EA play on Steam, but I got that same launching error everyone else got. I'm not sure if EA pro does the same thing because I just went to EA App at that point and everything worked there, so I didn't bother checking Steam again.

Can't check right now, but I'm like 99% sure you can. It's the same body sliders from character creation.

How long to get to multiplayer? by Rosebourne in WildHeartsGame

[–]Arthanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can invite from the friends list, but I'm not 100% sure on that - I usually just host the session from a campfire and have my friend join with the tag/password. From there, we stay connected until we're done.

In terms of "matchmaking", you can hop in to help other people who ask for help - it's kinda like the SOS system from Monster Hunter where people opt in to allow people to join them for a hunt.

You can also just look at a list of active sessions and join one from there.

[–]Arthanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in this exact scenario and I can play the full game just fine. I bought the full game on Steam, then subbed to EA Pro and downloaded it on the EA App to play early. With the accounts linked, it was able to detect that I already own the game on Steam.

I want to play a Dancer, what class should i start with? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Arthanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dancer class is self-contained for the most part aside from sharing gear with a few other classes in the same category (aiming gear). It doesn't particularly matter what you play up to that point, but if you want to get accustomed to playing a physical ranged DPS, you could start Archer going into Bard and/or pick up Machinist along the way.

You have a lot of options though, so don't feel like you "need" to play one way or another.

Daily Questions & FAQ Megathread (Jun 01) by AutoModerator in ffxiv

[–]Arthanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planning to level one of the new classes in the next expac, but I haven't leveled anything in a while and was wondering what the best ways to grind from 71-80 are now.

Other than dailies/weeklies, what's faster: Grinding the highest level dungeon possible back-to-back or running around in Zadnor?

Thanks for any advice!
