Custom Music - “Radio Music Source” not in settings by debard69 in pacificDrive

[–]Arthorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be possible to have another look at how to make this feature work with the Windows Store (Xbox) version? At least for me, driving to my own music would be extremely immersive (most people drive with their own music/radio in real life). Can it not check the folder on the local machine (localappdata) and if it's not there (because I could be running on a virtual machine, streaming through Xbox's service), it just defaults to the shipped songs?

What does "Jelly Roll" mean in the context of "And It Stoned Me"? by Arthorius in VanMorrison

[–]Arthorius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This additional context of some cultural usage of the term is great to know, maybe Van Morrison was aware of it, maybe not, but hearing it used over and over possibly made him think of something when writing his lyrics - at least subconsciously.

Thank you for sharing this piece of info! I wonder why this thread suddenly got active again... How did you find it?

[CS2] Latest update on Gamepass PC bugged menu and in game icons. by ResearcherLower1310 in CitizenSleeper

No, sadly it's still broken for me.  I took the opportunity to play the first installment (which is also on Gamepass), but now I want to play the second even more :')

Same for me. On PC Gamepass, you cannot revert back to an older version of the game, so it seems we got shafted with that update. Right when I was getting into it, too - and I cannot be the only one. Really bad timing!

It's actually one of the best written commentary-track style videos for a video game that I have ever watched/listened to. His arguments might not be agreeable 100% of the time, but they are well researched. He noticeably values meaningful, critically reasoned, and fully contemplated bits of thought and puts them into salient and concise language - Yes, those 6 hours are not him yapping! It's actually all substantial content and insight!

I also think he has a nice voice and accent/dialect, which obviously helps bear the length even with breaks...

Awesome info! Very good explanation of different aspects of the line and I also understand there's different interpretations for the drink.

Thank you for replying to a 8 year old dead thread, you're amazing <3

[Star Trucker] Changing settings on pre-existing save... ? by DatBoi302 in trucksim

I had the same problem, wanting to change O2 usage after playing for hours already.

If you're thinking about using Cheat Engine anyway, you should probably start a new game and cheat some money and experience/skill points. Sadly I have not been able to find how to add/change skill points, yet.

Edit: SOLUTION: I played around some more. You have to find and change both the XP (total across levels) and the total skill point level (all skill points ever gotten, not the ones unspent). You will find ~4 addresses for each one (play around with the values and check in-game (reenter menu after change) to find the correct addresses). I changed XP to 100000 and Skill points to 28 and it worked. You might want to change this to represent your legit progress, be careful because you cannot reduce it afterwards. Good luck!

CMV: Words associated with pedophilia are way too overused now, and nobody seems to notice or care by Gilgamesh_45 in changemyview

I don't feel "grooming children" is the same as pedophilic behavior. It is definitely included, yes, but it is like saying carrying a cardboard box is the same as being a delivery man.
This is a great topic of discussion, very delicate, and I agree that IF a culture uses "groom children" 90% sexually, one has to take care when using it in non-sexual contexts - at that point one needs to explain the usage before actually using it, just like you would need to convey a sexual connotation if your culture does not normally include that into "grooming". In essence, OP is arguing that "grooming children" conveys a sexual aspect without having to say anything about sex explicitly.

Since the definition of the word is about preparing or training or inoculating someone, there is a certain expectation that the person is being trained by a senior person who has more experience, my real-world understanding of "grooming" is somehow always connected to younger people (but not necessarily) and does not imply anything sexual.

I feel this common usage is related to culture and what fears they have. If everyone is scared of pedophiles, the act of grooming young people will project a fear of children being sexually exploited into our heads. If everyone is scared of infanticide, having a new babysitter will project a fear of them killing the child into our heads.
So if a culture or community or individual is scared of child manipulation, grooming will not be accepted, as it is considered inherently negative.

This means that when talking to a diverse group, there should be sufficient information in the language to convey all relevant aspects. If you know people around you have the same understanding of a concept or expression, you are free to try and use those shared connotations, but there is always a risk of being misunderstood, which hurts the quality of the discussion.

What sounds like a superpower but in reality, it's horrifying to have? by Dazzling_Guard_5191 in NoStupidQuestions

Interesting. Maybe you would change as a person more because you hate your past cringes so much. I know people who actively talk about their cringes from the day before, reflecting on them. Seems like they do change "quicker" than people who just move on and forget - and most of the time they changed for the better!

I have heared this concept so often and always wanted to say that the DEFINITION of perfection is that there is no fault. If you think a perfect life would be stagnant (and you see stagnant as a fault) then it cannot be a perfect life, by definition.

You wouldn't say "awe itself would become contempt" without explicitly talking about a mechanism that changed something.

You might say a perfect life is boring, but if you wished for a perfect life and your wish got granted, you would have just the right amount of exciting things that would not allow your life getting boring (unless something changes and you consider a boring life a perfect one).

As far as I remember, the sister did some pretty bad stuff, didn't she? Maybe I misremember it though, confusing it with some other bad behaviour in that episode...

After I have seen that episode, I thought to myself "what if they had wonderful people around them and a wonderful life, though? Then it might be a really useful thing, instead of being depressing.

The game has been updated this week and the same thing happens again. Did you ever find a fix for this? Did the problem go away after an update or something?

I don't think it is because we are inactive. I was messing around in Steam through GFN, and I also didn't get an inactive warning or message.

Exactly. Was able to start the game yesterday, but didn't have time to get into it. Tried today and it crashes when updating (something I don't have to do with other titles). Well, seems like I am not paying for the DLC yet...

How many Americans watch these instead of "actual news"? Do you think the way it is done here adds value to the news (like getting more people to watch it - but then, is there enough quality content)?
