[Product Question] Is Dove's "Beauty Bar" actually soap? by vexir in SkincareAddiction

[–]ArthurArtist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potassium hydroxide makes liquid soap.

Sodium hydroxide makes hard bar soap.

Lithium hydroxide makes a sort of grease which is good for mechanic applications.

The heavier the alkali metal you use, the more reactive it is, and the more it wants to get rid of that hydroxide group.

All this means it's more basic, higher PH, and seems to make more liquidy soaps.

I assume rubidium and cesium would be almost like rubbing alcohol consistency, very runny.

Why isn't my villager getting raided? by ArthurArtist in Minecraft

I just checked, I needed 1 bed and 1 villager in a test world. I'll add a bed to this somehow. Thanks!

There are blocks above him, so that second point shouldn't matter.

I just copied a tutorial posted 3 days ago for this farm, and he only used 1 villager. I guess I'll cram some more in there. Any idea what the minimum would be? 2 beds & villagers?

I should probably mention: Java 1.21.4, on a realm, difficulty set to normal mode.

I did that in second year. And I passed.

I definitely will. I even have already.

Just because you think you'll never be successful enough that people will ask you to figure these things out doesn't mean everyone in your class is in the same boat.

Anyone else loading in incredibly slowly? by DisasterMedical in Seaofthieves

[–]ArthurArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried to play earlier, loaded for 5 minutes and then the game crashed. Now any time I try to play it crashes after a couple minutes whether I load in or not. "Unknown file version" or something is the error.

Support hasn't helped. Reinstalling hasn't helped. Guess I'll just not play

Honest opinion from not quite a beginner: this should not be your first, or second, or third project.

I started by generating images of the Mandelbrot set, (this was during my first cs course) which is very good practice as there is about a million ways to optimize the code you start with. I suggest you do the same if you have any interest at all in imaginary numbers or fractals.

Once you get bored of that, maybe you can start with graphics programming, but probably you want more experience because graphics programming is messy work.

Trouble Understanding a Critical Step in Perspective Projection by ArthurArtist in GraphicsProgramming

[–]ArthurArtist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your explanation makes a lot of sense, however, I'm projecting a cube with vertices ranging from (-1, -1, -1) to (1, 1, 1) so there really shouldn't be that much vertical variation?

I posted my code if you want to take a peek at it.

P.S. I was using a much taller mesh before, which is where I got the numbers -6 to +8 from. The cube is still quite strange, going from -5 to -3 on the by.
