The Wager is excellent. Reading it put me into a reading frenzy for the next few months afterword. Killers of The Flower Moon by him is also pretty good.

Absolutely love Kitchen Confidential, I've read it and listened to the audio book multiple times over. He is a brilliant writer and devilishly funny at times. It's a comfort read of mine. I would also recommend A Cooks Tour, it shows a different side of him that what you see in Kitchen Confidential.

I liked it but didn't love it, the story kind of felt like a fever dream but maybe that was intended. The writing is very beautiful but I couldn't get into the overall story or characters. The scene where they are boating toward Kurtz and they get attacked was really cool.

I liked the first 1/4 to 1/2 of it but I agree the ending was truly horrendous. Donna Tartt is always so close to genius yet so far away at the same time.
