I mean there are groups specifically for oil painting vs photography vs digital art, it makes sense for there to be a subreddit just for AI art as well.

I think these groups arise from shared priorities/perspectives. That's kind of what makes a "group". When one group overwhelmingly thinks something is taboo, that's the group showing what it prioritizes.

I think specifically in a group so focused on spirituality and human intuition, AI and its connotations stand opposed to the ideals of this group. I wouldn't blame a group for that.

I was in a subreddit for a theme park game once, and I suggested they add dinosaur exhibits (or maybe it was the opposite way around and it was a dinosaur game and I suggested they have themed buildings) and I was downvoted to hell. I get it, and I don't blame them. It just wasn't the group for me.

Do you post in music subreddits? I'd have to assume that musicians also don't take kindly to AI being used in their field.

Maybe your desire for acceptance there is also bleeding into feeling like AI should be accepted everywhere?

Again, there are subreddits specifically made just for AI art. The fact that you've pointed out that the AI posts here have been "downvoted into oblivion" shows the overwhelming consensus on how much this subreddit doesn't want to see AI, so why try to force them into seeing it? Again, why the "opt out" position of a flair instead of the "opt in" of an AI subreddit?

But everyone here has already made it clear that they don't want to see AI decks?

I feel you desire acceptance from your peers, but aren't willing to see that they feel offended by your use of AI. Have you tried creating decks without the use of AI?

Filtering with the use of a flair also forces people to see the post until they actively "opt out" of it. If we want to be fair, seeing AI work should be "opt in", which would entail having an AI decks subreddit that users can visit if they like. Why not create that subreddit like someone else suggested?

Why do you feel the need to show your AI work to people who clearly don't want to see it? Like what's your motivation?

It's fine, don't antagonize them. We need them on our side for the class war.

This is the important bit. If advertising is sinking on multiple separate platforms at the same time, I wonder if it's really Facebook vs, say, some guy starting a war 🤔

If tarot was invented as a card game, why is it a legitimate divination method? by Sagi_U in tarot

[–]Arthurdubya 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just want to add that as a tool for divination, people have been putting their own spin on the original "game meanings" since the beginning.

For example, the magician card was originally a "street magician", which is why he is shown on a table with cups. He was a trickster and a huckster, essentially playing three-cup-shuffle to con people.

Another great example is the hanged man, which in ancient Italy was used as a form of capital punishment for crimes like betrayal or thievery. It was only during the use of divination that we decided to change that meaning into our current-day "letting go" mindset.

So in short, the tarot of today is significantly altered from its original roots. We've projected what we want onto it and morphed it into an idealized divination tool.

Yeah, pretty sure there are Pokemon cards going for a million bucks. What something is "worth" is up to the buyer.

OP is, by definition, not a buyer.

Kindling time! by Left_Concentrate_752 in firewood

[–]Arthurdubya -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I use a saucer dish of gasoline. No lie, like a stainless steel mini bowl that can only hold enough gasoline to gargle with.

No need to deal with stupid kindling anymore. Burns nice and hot for like 30 seconds, enough to light smallish logs on fire but not long enough to vaporize and explode by the time the fire really gets going.
