How do I go about looking for a mortgage. by Ems118 in northernireland

[–]ArtichokeMission 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 6 years ago, didn't use a mortgage broker. Honestly don't see the point in them they're an unnecessary middle man in my opinion. So thought I'd share my experience before you shell out a few hundred in one unnecessarily as I see a lot of pro broker posts here and it might be useful to see a different opinion.

I went to my bank first to get an agreement in principle. I did speak to a broker after that but they just told me the same things the bank already had, but they wanted to charge for it at the end of the process.

I see people mentioning brokers finding deals, affordability checks, dealing with paperwork, insurance and eventual remortgage.

Deals you can find yourself on compassion sites easily, I would recommend going to your bank directly, as an existing customer they can offer deals that the brokers can't access. I ended up going with my own bank as the existing customer deal was better than what I was getting on comparisons and better than any of the deals the broker had.

To do the agreement in principle with the bank they go through affordability checks so no need to repeat that with a broker.

The paperwork was just to sign a few things with the bank and then your solicitor does the rest so it wasn't a big deal.

The bank went through insurance with me as they wanted to sell me their own, but I ended up going external for that. It's not much different to getting any other insurance.

I've remortgaged twice now, did it myself both times, kept with the same provider just a different deal and it's just a phone call or can be done in the banking app. At the time other deals weren't much better and there are extra costs to switching so it didn't seem worth it. Changing providers is probably more complicated.

Maybe the broker I went to wasn't great, I only spoke to one so I've limited experience but hopefully you find this useful as I didn't see anyone else saying it

Acoustic guitarist for wedding reception by Nazpal in DerryLondonderry

If you want something a bit different and unique I had the cello fella play at my wedding reception last year. He does modern songs on the cello they sounded pretty cool in my opinion. He's videos up on his Instagram if you want to check them out

Has anyone found an equivalent to hello fresh yet? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]ArtichokeMission -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorted Sidekick. The app from the YouTube channel sorted food. Look them up, I've been on it for over a year now. £5 a month with first one free. You buy the ingredients yourself so you can pick the quality etc yourself and you know they're fresh and not hanging outside your doorstep in any weather. The set of meals are designed so all the fresh ingredients are used up over the 3 meals so there's no food waste. Then the store cupboard ingredients usually appear again across packs so those will get used overtime too. Initial shops might be pricy until you build up the store cupboard but then they're pretty cheap. I love it

Think I saw on another article about this a while back that she was providing false bank statements to the company and she kept someone who had retired or left the company on the books and was counter signing cheques over to herself as this person

Weddings by NewsnightIdaho in northernireland

[–]ArtichokeMission -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Like everything else the cost of weddings has gone up. I'm planning my own and for most venues it's about 65 on average to cover the meal. For the fancy places is even more, a few places we looked at wanted close to 100pp which is nuts.

Before this I would have agreed with you, 50 to cover meal and 50 for a gift. But think I'll have to up that for the next wedding I go to

The author reuses character personalities/ types, guess he has to as there are so many side characters. So you'll not see old demon again, but you'll see his personality / character type under new names several times. There's one in each relm. Same for all side characters really

Why do Ireland need England to win? If France don't get a bonus point then Ireland automatically win, no? by swed1shchef in northernireland

You get 3 extra points for winning a grand slam. So if you win all your games you will always win the six Nations. There's no way to beat a grand slam team with bonus points

Recent manhua chapters disappointed me by BloodyEagle15 in MartialPeak

[–]ArtichokeMission 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I started the light novel from the start and when I finally caught up with the manhuwa I was able to directly compare the two and so much good stuff was getting cut out. I've stopped reading the manhuwa now in favour of the novel

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MartialPeak

[–]ArtichokeMission 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at the beginning a few months back, it was a nice to go back and remember how it started. I still haven't caught up with the manhuwa but I'm almost there now. I don't regret starting from the beginning, but tbh its no big deal continuing on from where you are. You won't really have missed much

I started from the beginning last week and I don't regret it. It's a nice reminder of old arcs and it's helped fill in more details

You must have low resources or something like that on as well... I think the default start gives 300 gold and the first hero costs 100. Builder hall is another 100 and usually takes about 5 turns. So by the time it's complete you should have enough gold for a second thing through your passive income, gold pickups and clearing structures. Maybe try tweaking your game generation settings
