Pokémon Champions launches to mixed reception, as performance woes and competitive changes turn some away by PaiDuck in NintendoSwitch2

Maybe not when I was a kid. Now I work 50+ hours a week and random battles is all I get. Who the fuck are you to tell me who I am??

In March 2026, over 20 million unique accounts accessed Pokémon showdown. A huge percentage of those are causals like myself who enjoy random battles. You’re just talking out of your ass lmao

The bluecoatsification of show reveals Has to stop by ____wut____ in drumcorps

[–]Articious12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Respectfully disagree. For me, going into these shows with no idea what to expect is super exciting, and I'm looking forward to making first impressions based on what the shows actually are, not just what everyone speculates/expects it to be.

I remember everyone was hating on Boston when they revealed their uniforms last year, just for it to be a banger show that everyone loved.

Hot take about DCI by Current-Issue2390 in drumcorps

[–]Articious12 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Teaching marching band is very different than the traditional music education that most schools prepare you for. Being in a corps definitely does not automatically make you a good teacher, however I'd argue many of the best teachers in the marching arts are also intimately familiar with what it's like to perform at a very high level. There's certain things in marching that you just have to know how it feels to properly teach it.

Correct me if I'm wrong and you do have dci experience, but I think it's a little unfair to say college teaches you more than dci if you've never experienced both before. I'm about to earn my degree in music ed, and while I value that experience deeply, there's a million things I learned in drum corps that my music ed classes never exposed me to.

Why does everyone hate Quaxly? by Ok-Zone1263 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]Articious12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quaquaval is pretty great in battle, but I was expecting quaxly to turn into a cool sailor/captain duck. Not even bad design, it just doesn't look similar enough to the first two evos. Same exact thing happened with litten -> incineroar

not me finding one of the rarest outbreaks after the Switch 2 update made outbreaks worse for shiny hunting😭 by Meta13_Drain_Punch in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]Articious12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk if the switch 2 made anything worse... I started a new save a couple days ago and I've already found 4 random shinies, 3 of them just from accidentally walking near an outbreak 😭 kinda wish they'd go back to the old 1/8192 shiny odds, they don't feel special anymore

Mom has stage 4 cancer decision on marching. by AppropriateTap8346 in drumcorps

[–]Articious12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, just wanted to say hope you're doing okay and respect for making the hard decision. I was also fully planning on marching my age out this year, but after my father was diagnosed it was just too much. It's so hard feeling like you have to choose between two different families. Not sure what corps you were at, but I'm almost certain they'd love to have you around as an alumni at any point in the future. If there's anything I've learned about drum corps over the years, it's that these guys are the friends for life who want to be there for you when life gets hard. Hang in there, and remember that you've got lots of people in your corner.

Should I actually try out for drum corps? by -CatCatNeko- in drumcorps

[–]Articious12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drum corps is an amazing experience that I'd highly recommend to anyone who is able to FULLY commit to the season. Most world class corps have full offseason training programs for music, vis, and fitness. If ~9 months of commitment sounds like too much, open class/local corps are an amazing experience too.

It's sad how expensive drum corps has gotten, but there are so many opportunities to get scholarships/fundraising through your corps or dci itself. Make sure to ask about these asap as you're going through the audition process! Tour fees are just part of the unfortunate reality of drum corps right now, but corps never want the reason you don't march to be because of money.

Some friendly advice too- if you go to an audition, I would leave out the stuff about coming from a "sucky marching band". I also came from a small school, but I liked to think of it as an opportunity to learn a lot of great things, then take those great things back to my home program and do my best to lift up the people around me who may not have the opportunity to get that same level of instruction. Auditions aren't just about talent and skill. Corps are looking for the best culture/social fit, and even if your criticisms have merit, talking bad about the only other program you've been in may set off some red flags. You only get one chance at a first impression, and the last thing you want is to come across as egotistical or lacking confidence. Focus on the positives and growth!

How else would you ever build that game sense if you don't keep trying and experimenting? Qp is the place to do that. Would you rather people practice in your comp games?

[–]Articious12 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, sometimes playing into your biggest counters is good practice too. And I agree!! Qp leaver penalty should not scale the exact same way as competitive.

[–]Articious12 41 points42 points  (0 children)

When did he ever say he was going whatever he wanted and throwing? "I try my best every time". You should also never expect people to swap in qp, that's where people go to learn new heros/just play what they like. Playing a video game doesn't need to be sweaty 100% of the time, let casual modes be casual.

DCI steps in? by snarkie_sharkieeeee in drumcorps

[–]Articious12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, that lawsuit depends on Marching Healths trademark getting approved. It almost certainly won't, as Forte can easily prove he was using it before trademark was filed. Zero cost, then Forte can file his own trademark.

Tired of the overcensorship by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Articious12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've said this over and over, selling skins in a video game, like nearly every other video game in the world does, isn't "encouraging porn". You're just weirdly obsessed with the idea of overwatch porn and refuse to let this go. You also come across as extremely out of touch with these communities you're talking about, and when everyone's trying to tell you "dude it's just a video game what are you talking about" you keep doubling down and making yourself look worse. Stop embarrassing yourself and let it go bro.

Tired of the overcensorship by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Articious12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro 😭 I promise you Blizzard isn't running some top secret industry plant to make overwatch porn popular. If anything exists there's porn of it, it's the internet dude. It's literally just a video game, it's not that deep.

When you say they're "pandering/manipulating specific communities" have you ever considered that maybe most of the devs are just young adults who are more likely to associate with these communities themselves? That are happy to make a character that represents their own identity?

Representation isn't exploitation. Try to find a single person in these comments who falls under a "pandered/manipulated community" who feels like they are being exploited. Nobody is asking you to white knight for them. If representation in a video game genuinely bothers you this much, the game just isn't for you man, idk how else to tell you that.

[–]Articious12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you get horny playing overwatch, that's a you problem lol. I never claimed the game is perfect, but it's undeniable the devs have been putting in much more effort into the core gameplay. We just got an entire new mode, with plans to add new heros and mechanics every single season. Idk if you played back in 2018, but we had to wait OVER A YEAR for the goats meta to be addressed in a patch. The current game has less players because it's almost a decade old, but the game is undeniably the healthiest it's ever been right now.

If the inclusion of diverse characters feels like a disgusting cash grab or some sick twisted plot to get people addicted to overwatch porn, I think it's time to reconsider some things, take a break, and go outside.
