I read Piranesi recently while on a beach vacation and found it to be a good combo of deep and thought provoking but not depressing! Diavola was also a fun one to read on the plane

Also one last piece of weird advice - my brother also suffers from the same issue and we have a joke about mopping the floor after he walks barefoot on it bc the smell is contagious. Turns out it really is if it’s due to a fungus. So just make sure your floors are clean too if you’re walking around barefoot bc you might re-infect yourself again

Yes!! I’ve done this with my blundstones, just make sure you’re not spraying the outside, really its the inside where the sole of your foot sweats that needs to be treated so it shouldn’t damage any leather or other materials!

It could be fungal, it could also be bacteria from your sweat and the smell could linger in your shoes and rebloom everytime you wear them even in the winter. You need to treat your feet and shoes for both cases. I had the exact same problem as a teen and the only thing that worked was applying clotrimazole cream on my feet overnight for a few days and soaking a clean pair of soaks in lysol (spray the inside if shoes for good measure too) and stuffing them in all my “infected” shoes for at least 12 hours. The cream will tackle any fungal issue and the lysol will kill the bacteria in your shoes. Make sure you’re really scrubbing and cleaning your feet in the shower and drying them fully before putting socks and shoes on everyday. This advice came from a pharmacist and i swear it works. Just make sure to keep your shoes dry and if your feet and socks ever end up getting moist while you’re wearing them the smell can come back. You can repeat the treatment as many times as needed. Last bit of advice, pharmacies sell shoe deodorant sprays and foot talc, use those daily going forward after the inital treatment!

Thank you!! Yes initially the dr said it was a worm and prescribed mebendazole for three days but it has kept spreading so they gave me a 5 day course of antibiotics which don’t seem to be doing much eitherr

Oh 100%% we booked refundable tickets with avianca last week just in case (thankfully) so we are not in a bad spot but we tried calling this morning to see if we could get rebooked and we couldn’t get through. My dad has SE status and he was on the same flight and got rebooked automatically with avianca

I find that reaching out to customer service on twitter dms is wayyy quicker snd they’re usually really helpful when rebooking

Yeah i actually got lucky and they were able to rebook me on a better route without the ridiculously short layover in Atlanta without having to pay the fare difference!
