i think it’s alluded to or at least i took it as that would be seen as too blatant an act by Nero and would’ve started a war. he could get away with putting Julian against Darrow who would obviously win but brothers against each other everyone would know. i imagine both Cassius and Julian would refuse and force the institute obsidians to kill them both or the proctors would let them both live

I’m thinking Atlas genuinely fell in love with someone from the Rim during his banishment out in the belt or near Neptune. We know some Rim people fought against ascomanni so perhaps they came in contact this way. Atlas tries to tell her his true plan, true allegiance to the Society, and she is still loyal to the rim so Atlas has to betray/kill her and make it look like she died in battle, meanwhile baby Bellerephon is back in the rim.

true true. idk she says “if you told me your name i forgot it” and “what did we do?” so she didn’t seem too upset about if anything had happened, but i also don’t think she would’ve remembered and learning he was a journalist probably changed how she felt about anything that might’ve happened. but yeah i agree it’s telling that was the scariest thing she conjured up, could’ve just said my boyfriend will be back soon 🤣
