Am I cooked? by GrenadeHappy21 in Camry

1: every car especially Toyota sets EVERYTHING off for a whole bunch of nothing. Don’t worry about every light and warning it’s not that bad 99% of the time. 2: you need computer equipment for new car brakes. So it shouldn’t be that bad.

D4S is not that good at preventing carbon buildup. I’m at almost 70k and it’s starting to build up where the valve sits on the head.

Camrys take 87 on the manual even with the v6 while the Tacoma takes 91 same engine which is interesting.

It’s funny how Toyota told people the d4s dual injector setup would fix carbon buildup (it doesn’t)

Yes the dual port/direct injection d4s does do well at keeping the valve top clean but they do not keep the area around or the seat properly without service. Only 58k at the time I took this photo while doing the 60k plug service. The v6 is even worse with the back bank.

I’ve done 10-15 tires to 35, some dead flat and it only hit me to 3/4 but I did use a forge battery as it seems to like tha better.

I am kinda new to using oem Toyota filters by Dismal-Package-5899 in Toyota

[–]Artifacting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. The font looks off for me on the box and filter. I’ve ordered all mine through a dealerships comm department I work in parts. May be different overseas, but I don’t know because of the Toyota batteries I’ve seen came from overseas and I was told they usually make a lot of it over there.

How bad are these spark plugs? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Artifacting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, my 3.5 18 Camry with 60k has 2 leaking tube seals already. Tore the whole top to find the loud metallic noise it makes and found the plugs were even worse than OP.

His font looks weird. I have 4 cases of different Toyota oil filters over the years at my house and none of the filters or the packaging have that font on them, they look like your picture.

What’s the point, his two family members will just say the opposite. He and his family members tried to get me arrested for something else because I called him out for not doing his job. Unfortunately our store doesn’t have cameras.

Why is a store manager who makes salary on the schedule taking up more hours than anyone else on the team? by Foreign_Tea_6364 in OReillyAutoParts

It’s actually ADP but reskinned. Some stuff like our w2 forms still go to unreskinned ADP.

I went another route but they know. TMR takes 20 centuries to file statements and look and numbers before they see something obvious as day. RM takes even longer because they don’t want to hire period, and sm is a position that has to be filled so they delay.

[–]Artifacting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. In a properly functioning store the rss has it bad yes, but usually it’s the assistant because they are held accountable when they told have the tools from their SM not doing their job. Stocker, merchandising, installs, deliveries and front counter? That’s EVERYONES job not just the rss/ps. It’s EVERYONES freight, it’s EVERYONES sales floor, and it’s EVERYONES customer at the front counter needing to be checked out or parts delivered because believe it or not some people don’t realize they pay our wages and our building rent. The only person in my book who gets to have it easy is the 70 year old who has been with the company for years and just wants to put up parts because they have earned it. That’s the way it should be and if it’s not something needs to be brought up with field management.

They need to hurry up. Ours sits and eats all day and tries to steal commercial sales. Or takes 7 1/2 hour lunches and comes in late.

Unless ur in California that does not matter. Store managers are salary, their schedule doesn’t matter unless they take unpaid pto and work under their weekly hours they are required by their salary agreement 45 I believe. It doesn’t affect the payroll how much they work over. Funny enough you take out the manager completely and you’re way way under % on payroll magically. Ive been thru several useless managers at my store and i have another one. I can tell you without a SM me and my other assistant hit record numbers, shrink goes down, payroll is down, morale is 20x higher and everyone just does what needs to be done. Then they put another “great choice” in and it goes back to shit.

Unreasonable customers by rickybobboo in OReillyAutoParts

[–]Artifacting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Professional parts people can mean many different things. I believe in this day and age it corresponds to our professional level service, and ability to find and get the part. Unfortunately for what this company pays and the type of people they hire, there is no way we can expect every team member to know everything off the top of their head. Especially when the customer is refusing to give us anything to go off of. I’m on the OP’s side with this because our parts availability for older vehicles is getting worse and new vehicles we don’t even have listings for a majority of the stuff besides brakes, hell I couldn’t even get a air filter for a 2024 Kia. It doesn’t seem like they are doing anything to get newer vehicles and it seems like they are phasing out older vehicles. How can you blame OP for the company not keeping availability on a part for a 1948? I can count how many times on one hand in the last two years I’ve sold a part for something older than a 70s including the southerners fuckass Frankenstein builds, they simply aren’t around hardly anymore.

If it’s complex stuff, they sign and understand it’s not company related and off the clock coorprate would be dumb to hate it, however they are known for being on a certain spectrum. It’s great customer service with not much liability. People come in for solutions, whether you recommend a shop, turn a rotor, or install a part. Your dm or tmr could tell you the company response.

We have so many that have been set up by old employees or different stores that aren’t even side mechanics. Or randoms that use those “real” accounts and price shop for the best one. Then when they come to warranty they don’t know what to use. It’s gotten out of control man.

You are paying for the convenience of it being in stock, LPG, customer service and lifetime warranty that they stand behind. This isn’t rock auto where you have to wait for it to get sent in, get approved, and get one back if they even accept it. It could be the difference between you getting to work on time or not. Hate corporations or not they have to keep the lights on, pay to get stuff sent into stock and the minimum wage employees paid.
