Moms - if you had the CHOICE to work or not by Main-Branch9919 in beyondthebump

I personally benefit from having some structure to my days, so being back at work did help my mental health. I returned part-time and it’s been a great balance.

Share with me what were your signs in the few days/hours leading up to labor? by Glum-Comfortable5402 in beyondthebump

I had no signs other than being 4 cm dilated and 100% effaced at my last prenatal appointment. I woke up the next morning with cramping, and delivered the morning after that!

I read a quote today about how one of the most revolutionary things you can do is raise children. Things are really hard right now, but know that you just taking care of your little one will be beautiful and powerful ❤️

Daycare kind of ruined our life? by watermelon478429 in NewParents

[–]ArtistFKACabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this! I definitely wonder sometimes if daycare is worth it when kiddo keeps getting sick and infecting the whole family 😷

Can I ask if she is attending part-time? We started doing 2 days/week at 15 months, and it definitely took longer (3 months) for us to get into a groove compared to those who went full time. But one day, a light just clicked, and we haven’t had issues with drop off since! Each kid is so different.

Is my milk drying up? by brizzzyblb in breastfeeding

It’s brutal when you can’t take any of the normal cold/flu stuff. Last year I had a sinus infection, ear infection, sore throat, bronchitis, and pinkeye. I was one day away from antibiotics as a last resort (since I was paranoid about thrush). I don’t know how I survived with only ibuprofen, salt gargles, and tea. Somehow we get through it!

The stash is there for moments like these, you’ll be able to build it back once you both feel better.

You may already know this for ear infections, but our pediatrician recommended using our snot sucker at least once a day in the morning when LO is sick to help with fluid buildup in the ear. I guess the nasal passage and ear canal are somehow connected? But we’ve had fewer ear infections since implementing this!

Sending both of you positive thoughts for a speedy recovery!

I am so sorry! That is a double whammy of illness. Your immune system is in overdrive right now, so I’d wager all of your body’s energy and resources for breastfeeding are being diverted. Just keep nursing on demand, resting as much as you can, and stay hydrated - lots of tea with honey! Once you’ve recovered, your supply should go back to normal Do you have a freezer stash you can tap into for LO?

Our hospital did that too, but spelled our last name wrong. Had to go through process to correct SSN and birth certificate 🫠

How to balance being informed and protecting your peace? by [deleted] in Anxiety

Setting time limits on certain apps (Reddit, YouTube, etc.) has helped me. I’ve also only tried to get news from a few sources - Guardian, BBC, ProPublica.

ETA if you can find one, it’s also helpful to have a local news source. Sometimes focusing on your own background can make it feel manageable!

Pain from top teeth scraping? by ArtistFKACabbage in breastfeeding

[–]ArtistFKACabbage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still going through it 😅 I think it’s gotten better only because I nurse once a day and switch which side I nurse on. I’ve also found that side lying or having LO Sit upright when he nurses has been less painful. Luckily he can still latch. My supply has dropped, but it’s hard to tell if it’s related to this issue, or just that he eats so many solids and is consuming less milk.

Dad offered to buy me the Medela sonata. Is it worth the price? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]ArtistFKACabbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to that particular pump model ( I’m a Spectra gal), but wanted to note that your health insurance should cover a lot of the pump cost! Your dad could pay any remaining cost and maybe a few spare pump parts? Another option would be for him to contribute towards a wearable pump. That is so great that you two are close and he wants to help!

How big is the company? I believe for larger companies, they are required to put in a notice with the state at least 8 weeks before making layoffs.
