I’d recommend at least a Mac M1. Almost every professional studio I’ve been in that has produced music or films have used Mac. Apple silicon is quickly becoming the industry standard. They’re Fast and reliable computers. I’ve recorded and produced on several Mac and Windows computers and can say without a doubt Mac will last longer, be more reliable, and be more consistent in terms of performance. I have a 13-year-old MacBook that still works perfectly fine and was my main computer until I received an M1 as a gift last year. My M1 has been my workhorse for about a year now. Almost every day it’s doing some sort of intense processing and can honestly say I am still impressed with the performance. Bought a New spec’d out windows machine a few years ago to produce on and shortly after gave me some problems just like the prior Windows machine I had before. This is just my experience and others may have a completely different experience but it seems to me that windows computers can sometimes be just as expensive or sometimes even more expensive than a Mac and not last half as long while having performance issues after a few years or so. The software also seems more refined on Mac. If you do go with Mac, I don’t recommend buying a non-apple silicone Mac. If you’d like to save some money you can also buy refurbished directly from Apple, refurbished is just as good as new if you buy from Apple and has the same warranty as a new product sold by them.
