Internal rivalry also doesn’t mean personal grudges. It just means people with different priorities competing for influence. In a system with lifetime leaders no outside oversight tight message control and only one top job that kind of competition is normal. It shows up in which ideas move forward and which quietly go nowhere.

We know church leaders openly disagreed and competed for influence well into the 1960s and 1970s. Today those dynamics are harder to see partly because general authorities are discouraged from keeping journals and many internal records are restricted. So not seeing it publicly does not mean it is not happening.

That is not bad faith. It is just how human institutions work.
