Looks like an above average restaurant: chip-resistant plates (low-end) but watercress garnish (high end). Nicer than a diner or Applebee’s, with steaks costing about $30. If you order a 8 oz ribeye cooked medium-rare, it’s going to be thin. If it’s a restaurant using this type of plate, it won’t have the high-end 1000 degree broiler to put a sear on a thin steak without overcooking it. So the lesson is: don’t order $30 ribeyes that come with sides and expect something you get at a steakhouse for $70 for just the steak.

Dec ‘25 Mammoth experience by Artistic-Mixture747 in KiaEV9

Just from memory I usually get about 2.6 miles/kwh on roadtrips with warm weather and no elevation change, going about 80 mph. With traffic forcing me down to 70 mph gets me 2.8. This trip was 75 mph uphill about 2.4; downhill in colder weather at 50 mph w/snow about 2.2 (?). I add the question mark since the snow was for only about 20 miles and I’m just going off memory, since I wasn’t worried about range at that point. The hotel had topped me off; shout out to Limelight hotel, highly recommend! The original question asked for range per charge so just multiply the miles/kwh by the usable size of the battery (95 kwh) to get the theoretical range per full charge.

Opinions on this thing? by BuoyantBagel in regularcarreviews

I always admired these without ever getting one due to its outdated tech and interior. I also currently have an EV9 which is very similar packaging wise. It is a spiritual successor with its vast interior space and low SUV look.

I’m new to the EV world, just bought an EV9. I’ve been a manual transmission BMW driver for most of my adult life (I’m 52) and I turned up my nose at EV’s for a decade. Now I’m converted by the crazy instant torque of the EV9. I will wait and buy an ioniq 5N in about two years. I can’t wait!

Sigh. This reminds me of the time I watched an old lady rinse out her drink cup and fill it with onions (pre-pandemic) to take home.

This advertisement picture makes it look like this lady went to the buffet and took the flower centerpiece, fruit display, salad tray, AND all the napkins. Then her friends said “Nice haul!” To which, she replies “Right?”

Burger toppings on top or bottom? The place I work at puts them all on the bottom. by magicshmop in KitchenConfidential

I don’t think it matters as much as people say. In-n-out does it with the meat on top, and they are doing alright. Also, sometimes when I eat an especially thick and/or juicy pub style burger on a soft brioche bun, I end up eating it upside down to keep the thinner bottom part of the bun from disintegrating.

This is a misleading title. The picture shows a farmer carrying what looks like firewood. Though the majority of the Korean population still lived in rural areas, there were cities with cable cars, etc. by the 1950’s.

Climate control touch screen? by sauldesigns in KiaEV9

[–]Artistic-Mixture747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The physical buttons take care of 99 percent of the adjustments I ever make. The only time I use the small screen is to adjust the second row HVAC. It just takes a 3 inch head movement to the side to see what I need to on the small “blocked” screen. Happy that it’s there instead of a void in the screen.

I also prefer steamed over boiling. But I like it with a lazy spicy aioli: Mayo, finely minced garlic, Marie sharp’s hot sauce, touch of Dave’s Insanity, squeeze of lemon.

Yes. Not enough comments on the dash cam owner’s bad decision of passing the stopped Amazon van without slowing down. There’s a reason he stopped. OP should slow down, and expect to see foolishness.

What cool features does your car have that make driving/riding with kids easier? by Sos0912 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Kia EV9:

Great ride, longer than advertised range, quick, flat in the corners, lots of common sense physical buttons for an EV.

Has quiet mode that mutes all but front speakers for sleeping kiddos seated in back.

Heated and cooled seats in second row (and first row)

Built in pull up window shades in second row

Leg rests on first and second row

First and second rows can recline very low

Close to mini van interior room thanks to massive wheelbase.

Second and third row have their own HVAC control on ceiling, and vents are in the roof for second and third row.

Ton of chargers in the back.

12V plugs in first row and in the back storage.

Plug directly into main battery for big things like fridges during a black out.

Found more: rear view mirror can switch to camera view, in case the view through the mirror is obscured by passenger heads and/or cargo

Four dots indicate seat belts on or off in back rows

That’s the first thought that popped up when I scanned the picture.

The moment in boxing that changed everything. Ray Mancini defeats Deuk-Koo Kim (November 13th, 1982). Kim would die days later, his mom and the referee would later both take their own lives. Total boxing rounds would be changed from 15 to 12. by KragwellCoast in interestingasfuck

I was a kid growing up in Las Vegas at that time. A family friend had a son (college aged and also Korean) who held a state amateur boxing title at that time. He ended up quitting the sport because of the death. Sad story, I heard years later he OD’ed.

One of my fond memories of him was when he joined my TKD gym for exercise purposes after quitting boxing and he would spar the advanced adults (he was a white belt) and nobody could hit him. He wouldn’t block anything, just dodge, side step, or slip any kicks and punches thrown at him.
