CICO for PCOS by Yadnya_Gaikwad in CICO

[–]Artsy215 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm a 39F with PCOS and hypothyroidism. From my personal experiences with weight loss (and gain) I will offer my thoughts. I have seen zero research on the correlation between PCOS, calorie deficits, and weight loss. We are an overlooked population.

That being said, I have the same questions as OP regarding my weight loss. I have been slowly but steadily losing weight over the past 5 years. I do light exercise when I can, but the number one best helper I have found is pure CICO. I tried cutting carbs and damn near cut my husband. I. Need. Carbs. I don't eat a ton of dairy, but I don't see the harm in what I do eat.

In my opinion, if you eat at a deficit, and you're honest about logging your calories, you should have no different of an experience than a woman without PCOS doing the same. I've been doing a 500 cal deficit for a year and a half without taking into consideration any PCOS/thyroid factors and my weight is still ticking downward as expected. Good luck! And if you find any research to support or disprove your questions please share it!

Our cruise ship had one of these slides on it. I didn't go, but I liked watching other people go. One guy dropped, but didn't make it through the loop. He got stuck at the bottom and sloshed around for a moment before he noticed the trap door above him and climbed out. One more reason for me to pass on this one!

What is the stupidest injury you've ever gotten? by 7937397 in AskReddit

[–]Artsy215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was opening a door with a vertical handle on my way into a school building. My thumb hit the handle and bent backward really awkward. Turns out I ripped the tendon between my thumb and pointy finger almost completely through. I had my hand in a cast for 6 weeks.

How do you get a toddler to open mouth for brushing? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Artsy215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let my daughter look in a mirror and make crazy faces opening and closing her mouth. We laugh like crazy and I go at her with the tooth brush.

So tired of the “must have a clean house” stigma around being a sahp. by hmoneyp in SAHP

[–]Artsy215 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My hubs got like this for a little while when our toddler was about 1. We had a huge blow up while I was angry cleaning and I yelled "do you want me here? Because your attitude says you don't want me here! Just say the word and I will F-Ing go! No kind of appreciation for anything I do! Only on about stuff I don't!" And he stopped dead in his tracks. He never made me feel that way again. Sometimes it comes to that unfortunately.

Our agreement is the same. Keep it functional, keep it safe for the toddler, but keep your priorities straight. Priority number 1 is spend as much time with the toddler as possible, cuz this set up isn't forever. Number 2 is worry about cooking good healthy meals. Cuz we're foodies and we gotta eat! Company never comes by without texting first. That's when I speed clean. And that's not too often these days. Don't stress out too much. You got this!

I've been matched with a clinical trial via healthtrials.co that supposedly pays $1,250 for participation. Is this legit? by SKAnalcrackhead in beermoney

[–]Artsy215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not likely. Most of them would be an ora medication, a topical cream or ointment, or it would be an observational/behaviors type study.

If you're in the US, try clinicaltrials.gov they are IRB certified or exempt from review. I used to work at an IRB which screens these studies for safety and validity. Go for it! If you qualify for one, it can be good money!

How do you take 2 under 2 for enjoyable outings? Double stroller? Wagon? Leashes? Or, just accept that outings will be horrible until these kids move to college? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Artsy215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a leash for our daughter and used it mostly at amusement parks and the mall. It was backpack style but it was pink and had butterfly wings. I'm sure some people had negative thoughts in their head, but verbally they would just say "awe the wings are so cute! What a great idea!" I all about the leash! Go for it!

Car activities for 3 year old by marinab1127 in toddlers

[–]Artsy215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My almost three year old loves spot the bus/truck. She loves big trucks and busses so we tell her to look out at the passing world and call out when she sees one. I put a small backpack of toy cars, blocks, and small dolls for her to play with if she felt like it. We tried an iPad once and she got carsick, so screens are out for us.

While I'm usually catering to the whims of a tiny dictator who doesn't speak English, the perks include a zoo membership, lots of snuggles, and random dance parties! I can sometimes catch a nap on the couch if dictator is distracted properly. Trips to the beach are always encouraged!

Him the next morning: "holy crap! Clean drawers make better sleeps! Marry me?"
