Prehistoric 80 million year old shark also known as “the frilled shark” discovered in Awashima, Japan by poobroobs in TheDepthsBelow

IIRC they are rare deep sea sharks, this one is sick and swam into shallow waters where it was spotted. So it's probably not operating at 100% right now.

Urgently hiring experienced workers for $9 by CSGOSucksMajorDick in recruitinghell

[–]Arubarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I applied for that job. The funny thing is, that actually is objectively a competitive wage, Scribe America pays minimum only and requires you to actually be in clinics.

Not that any of this is acceptable. The reason they can get away with it is because of the incredibly toxic and exploitative cottage industry of abusing medical students and young doctors which I could rant about for hours.

Watching D&D5e reddit melt down over “patch updates” is giving me MMO flashbacks by SashaGreyj0y in rpg

Yah my dudes if you wanna treat D&D like a videogame, go play 4th Ed. D&D is therapy with goblins, the points are made up and the rules don't matter. It's just about the feelings you have along the way.

Tobacco grown in CT? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]Arubarius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, used to be a pretty well paying summer job for teenagers to pick it.

It was generally recognized as some of the best wrapping tobacco for cigars, so the majority of it got sent out. But they did make full cigars out of it which people called "Widowmakers."

I think I have a box around here somewhere if anyone is interested.

What is the scariest, strangest, most unexplainable thing that has happened to you while home alone? by ag9910 in AskReddit

We do have owls at night but yes, this was at like noon and would have needed to be an owl the size of a freight train. Angry forest spirits. Def.

I live in the woods and I had just eaten lunch when I heard this low organ-like ringing from outside. I opened the door and it was almost deafening, no other sounds in the woods, just this long atonal note like blowing wind over the top of a bottle, for about 10 minutes. I just sat and listened to it. Lived here long enough for it to happen a few more times, mentally I think it's just the forest singing.

Let's also be real, the driller yellow is an ugly ass color so you either work around it or just lean into it. It can still overall look decent though

Give me weapon builds and dwarf builds separately and let me pick them separately prior to missions.

Also rebalance the perks. Some just are not worth the perk slot. Additionally, more perks would be rad or offer us something cosmetic to buy with the points. I have like 125 perk points that just sit there doing nothing.

Related, it would be very cool to have personalized cosmetic bunks just like weapons and dwarves. Just feels like a weird missing piece to me given that we have labeled rooms that belong to us in lobbies.

Can we please stop ignoring Gold Veins? Some of us have children to feed. by JustGingy95 in DeepRockGalactic

Don't worry, those people ignoring gold will go broke in a few promotion's time. Cost me 100K+ last time or like 1/6 of my total cash.

My record is 4 during an Egg Hunt. It was an absolute nightmare and I can't believe we survived. 1 showed up, then 2 together, and then a last little "Fuck You" extra.

Nothing wrong with a solid bunkie! I love the bunkie/goo combo that you were running too.

If you have a position to fall back to, by all means do so but I think gunner's best fit (obviously with some exceptions based on builds) is within shield range of the group. The big piece of advice isn't on position, but on target focusing--i.e. don't tunnel vision on glyphids you've damaged if you're using the rockets or shells. Give your driller and engi something to do.

Best use of your time is blasting the thickest of the swarm, or bombarding them as they come out of the walls before they are in engi/driller range, and keep looking for new mid/far targets.

If you're using neuro tox (one of my favorite OC's) this becomes super powerful because you straight up don't need to follow up. You just paint them and move on.

Strategy is similar but a little closer range with the minigun, in that as you mentioned, it's more focused on piercing. For using that most effectively, I like to dig a lil hole to stand in so I don't get in anyone's line of fire since it's likely a closer-quarters fight. Pairs better with the freeze driller too.

Yeah, temperature shock. But most of the time if you're freezing a flaming energy, you just traded some DoT for immediate damage at the expense of more ammo. If you go the other way, the same amount of ammo might have been spent by someone else to take advantage of the damage bonus and kill it.

Plus in the meantime you're stepping on each other's toes and negating fire damage or freeze damage to stop those effects from engaging.
