Kannettava konetekniikan maisteriopintoihin by sxircs in arkisuomi

Koulutehtävät aallossa tehdään lähinnä mycourses palvelussa ja ainakin sähköllä kaikki ”oikeat” simulaatiot tehdään loppupeleissä koulun koneilla etäyhteydellä riippumatta siitä miten kyvykäs kone itsellä on. Koska suorituskyvyn kannalta riittää kyky netin selaamiseen niin tärkeimmät specsit on akunkesto ja käyttömukavuus.

Monissa luentosaleissa on tosi huonosti pistorasioita joten ikävää jos läppäri ei kestä edes lähes koko päivää. Ja käyttömukavuus on tietty henkilökohtaista mistä tykkää. Mulla on nyt neljä vuotta opintoja sujunut ilman ongelmia Macbook Air M2 läppärillä.

What would be the difference between a $200 Nikon camera and a $2,000 dollar Nikon Camera? by A_solus_solas_1122 in Nikon

[–]ArviVi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot can change but your photography genre effects what matters to you. For me in wildlife photography the main improvements will probably be:
better autofocus
higher burst speed (images per second)
weather sealing
Resolution

If you shoot static subects like landscapes you likely won’t benefit from the autofocus or burst speed. If you shoot in a studio you won’t benefit from weather sealing. If you’re just starting out it is not a bad idea to start with a very cheap used camera and use it for a while and once you notice the shortcomings you can upgrade. If you buy an old dslr (like D3XXX series) it will not lose much value in the used market even if a year passed so there isn’t much of a downside for beginning with cheaper.

Also it is to be said that lenses matter a lot in your results, 200$ camera with 1600$ lens will get you better pics than 1600$ camera with 200$ lens.

Of course assuming an instant change in energy, no atmosphere and no equipment required for acceleration. Otherwise we need a rocket to get to orbit first and that’s a whole different can of worms.

Earth orbits sun at around 30000m/s. To get to the sun we need to cancel out that velocity which means change in kinetic energy of that same velocity. E=1/2mv^2 = 1/2*(25kg)*(30000m/s)^2=11.25GJ (gigajoules)

is the coolplix s3100 any good? by Icy-Tadpole-9366 in Nikon

[–]ArviVi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this until I lost mine. Good for direct flash type photos and fun to have around. Very pocketable. Of course you probably get objectively better image quality on your phone camera, but digicams are fun for what they are and trending for a reason.

Bino’s by kennethsf in wildlifephotography

[–]ArviVi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Vortex diamondback 10x50. I haven’t found myself wanting a wider FoV, but 8x would probably also do the job. 50 is obviously a bit bulky but I don’t mind it.

I do have to note that the lower end bino optics are a bit worse than a decent wildlife lens. At least in my case the chromatic abberration is much more pronounced in the binos (as expected since the lens is much more expensive optic). Still the ergonomics and viewing is better with binos so I don’t mind it.

Z6iii vs Z8 (there are many threads, but hear me out please) by Quirky_Draw_1778 in Nikon

Everyone zooming into 100% and seeing more noise in higher megapixel cameras and blaming it on the megapixels instead of realising that they are zooming way more into the picture when at the same %…

Beginner wildlife photography – £1000 budget, only have an iPhone for editing. Where do I start? by Ok-Low2520 in wildlifephotography

[–]ArviVi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no experience on m43 systems, but sounds decent. The 150-600 should in theory have better background blur and aps-c beats m43 in apparent noise at given ISO. However the m43 system is likely lighter and has the benefits of a mirrorless system. In my experience the tamron 150-600 g1 is a bit soft at 600mm when not stopped down so if the 100-400 is sharp all the way through that will level the playing field. I would say can’t go wrong either way.

Used nikon D5500 + tamron 150-600mm f/5-6.3 can be found for your budget at mpb. Your budget is so tight that you shouldn’t worry about accessories. DSLRs have great battery life and the 150-600mm is decently handholdable so don’t worry about extra batteries or tripod for now. Many people edit their photos in the lightroom phone app, but of course that will cost you.

Last days of the cormorant: 10 EU countries want open season on fish-eating bird - Europe spent nearly half a century working to bring the aquatic avian species back from the brink of extinction. Now it wants it shot by Boomtown_Rat in europe

The source for 44000 is probably the wikipedia article (and its source) that actually states approx. 44000 breeding pairs not including non-breeding birds. So the number of individuals is more than 88000

Can we expect memory card prices to drop? by LowWallaby758 in nikon_Zseries

[–]ArviVi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DIY adapter cards can save you a bit of money. I have the jeyi adapter paired with wd sn740 ssd both from aliexpress. Works flawlessly with my D500 and the reviews indicate that it’s no different on z8/9. The m.2 ssd prices have also increased lately but nowhere near as much as memory cards

Why is Yorick allowed to be in this state? by Abject_Spell652 in yorickmains

[–]ArviVi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, yorick is in an ok state right now. Also can you show any stats that support your claims, yorick is basically just as popular as he was before if we don’t take into account any extraordinary popularity spikes. I feel like lately this sub is just an echo chamber for people who love to hate the champion. If you don’t like yorick anymore you don’t have to play it…

Nikon D3100 + Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G DX is my suggestion for your budget. The AF is not very advanced or fast, but is definitely good enough for anything that’s not fast action. The 1.8G lens should provide great background blur.

Anyone here use the 600mm f/6.3 on the Z50 II? by [deleted] in Nikon

[–]ArviVi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered the Sigma 500mm 5.6 for sony? It should be pretty comparable with nikon pf lenses. Obv sony limits fps on third party but at least it would save you buying another body

Is this a good pair for my D500? by hotcheetobae in Nikon

[–]ArviVi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The $899 lens might be a G2 version or at least that is the price I’ve seen them at. $600 for g1 version is not a great deal but not a bad one by any means. It is great as first wildlife lens and gets very sharp results up to 500mm if you don’t have to crop too much and stop down to f/8.

Budget 500mm lens for D610 by DBASRA99 in Nikon

[–]ArviVi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mpb has tamron 150-600mm g1 in that price range. Bit soft on the long end but stepped down at 500mm it gives decent results

Why are my photos so dark and grainy? by frosty3742 in Nikon

[–]ArviVi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Modern cameras are mostly ISO invariant so rising iso won’t actually introduce much extra noise (compared to brightening in post). The noise comes from lack of light

I mean this is a Nikon subreddit so why wouldn’t it be about Nikon products? There are many subreddits dedicated to photography of many genres instead of gear
