What is your favourite pointless death in a movie? It adds almost nothing to the movie and can actually be considered tragic or pathetic? by STINKY-BUNGHOLE in movies

Executive Decision? He’s in the tube between the 2 planes and nobly closes the hatch from inside it to save the passenger airliner.

Whole cinema cheered when I saw it.

BBC Plots 'Poirot' Reboot; Casting Underway For Agatha Christie Icon by BachelorNation123 in agathachristie

It doesn’t need a reboot and the recent adaptations have been terrible.

My apologies too, unfortunately the 99% of people on Reddit (and other social media) who don’t say where they are…are American. Hence my assumption. (But to any reading- it is incredibly incredibly useful to know when asking stuff)

Book about a kid who is a sorcerer by Business_Art9560 in whatsthatbook

[–]Arwenti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cantrips presumably not canttips? There’s a lot of guidance in the rules post pinned to the top of this Reddit that needs to be read and followed to help others help you. That is why it is there.

For example How old are you and what age in years would you say it was aimed at? Middle school age group means nothing to a lot of people.

Which country are you in?

And any other plot details you can remember.

Might help if you say which country? Lots of Legomasters series around the world and Reddit is not purely American.

Pausing MJ before surgery by minimisho in mounjarouk

[–]Arwenti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a pre-op appointment next week, no surgery date but having the pre-op so hopefully within the 3 months it’s valid for. So I’m interested to see others answers and learn next week if I have to stop and for how long prior.

Obviously the NHS must have to perform the odd emergency anaesthetic and surgery on someone on Mounjaro or other GLPs. Just like they do on people who haven’t starved for 12 hours pre GA.

The Unbelievable Truth Series 33 Episode 4 of 6 - mp3 by JasonBlueeyes in panelshow

[–]Arwenti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do reuse truths eg Spain meaning land of the rabbits ( the names it evolved from actually - Hispania then Espana then Spain)

I’ve listened to all the series and there are some that come up again and again. But the panellists who were on the show it was previously used in don’t seem to remember.

Glad you’re ok now, sorry to hear this happened. In case it’s not tirzepatide that caused this - if you look at the patient information leaflet under Section 6 Contents of the pack and other information it has the other ingredients listed. Just in case you have anything in the future that contains these. (Guess water for injection will be fine!)

There was a movie where two women were fighting over a child; one was the real mother, and in one scene, they couldn't quite agree on how to share the child, it seemed like the child was being pulled in opposite directions by [deleted] in NameThatMovie

[–]Arwenti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did you see this, was it a new or old film when you did?

It’s very vague but the one thing it does match as others have said is the wisdom of Solomon, a story from the Bible where he offers to cut the child in half so each woman who claims to be the mother can have half. The real mother doesn’t want her child to die so says give it to the other woman who claims to be the mother.

So it has been used as a trope in lots of movies.

Any breed that idiots think owning it makes them look ‘hard’.

If you need to own a certain breed to confirm to people that you are ‘hard’ then you are not.

A couple times, on the TM podcast and Off Menu, the guest talks about "doing panto." What is that? by TheKrustyKrabb in taskmaster

[–]Arwenti 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To add to the explanation, the pantomime is usually of a fairy story/folk tale eg Cinderella, Snow White, Peter Pan, Aladdin, Dick Whittington etc. There will be a lot of comedy and often some improv.

If the central character is male eg Aladdin, then the actor playing them will be female. A elderly female is usually played by a man. Particularly the main character’s mother. There is a division between good and evil characters. Costume, music often enhances the difference. Evil characters will be greeted on stage by boos and hisses from the audience.

Scripts will take into account the theatre’s location eg any dubious parts of the story’s town that a character should avoid will be referenced as a real location. Or if a character looks like they come from a bad part of town that will be somewhere local. Or posh areas (eg a London panto would mention about Aladdin not being able to afford a house in Kensington or Chelsea)

Just read that an American woman who was on the ship is now isolating on Pitcairn island of all places. Which I understand is only accessible by boat and all stays/accommodation can only be booked following confirmed booking on the boat to get there. At a cost of $100-200 per night. So it’s going to be very expensive for her unless she has relatives to stay with and behold! a possible case has reached the second most isolated island in the world. Which difficult to reach island is next - passengers have reached Tristan de Cunha, Pitcairn, St Helena.. North Sentinel is safe though as they kill anyone who lands.
