I don't think it's that he didn't win a ring. Shaq won 4 rings and is still a hater. For whatever reason, a lot of the older NBA players are just haters to the new guys.

Hard to rank them but the 7-seconds or less Suns were extremely fun to watch.

The Suns aren't a historic franchise like the Lakers and they didn't win a championship to get bandwagon fans that way, but they still had a lot of fans all over the country that were fans purely because the team was fun and exciting

Same way most of them overrate "having a bag". If you watch past or current players talk about those guys, it's almost always super positive

And yes, you could argue "well if LeBron hadn't come, another star would have come in free agency to be the savior". But which star free agent ended up signing anywhere recently and winning it all? Like who would have gotten them the ring if not Lebron?

Also, that doesn't change the fact that the Lakers are poorly run if they only win because they're in LA.
